I really have no idea why this place even has customers. I’m disgusted after ordering delivery for the first time. I ordered the Honey BBQ Pork Empanadas and Pulled Pork Quesadilla. The Quesadilla was a HALF Quesadilla and was impossible to eat with my hands. It was full of bland beans and bland cheese, with very little pork. The entire thing was(you guessed it) bland, and the portion was child-sized. I also ordered the empanadas, not empanada singular, and it arrived burned and cold all at the same time. The filling was barely recognizable as pork, and reminded me of wet dog food. In my experience, I spent more than 20 dollars for extremely lackluster food, miniature portions, and a terrible experience. I would’ve had a more enjoyable time watching a 20 dollar bill burn right in front of my eyes, because at least it wouldn’t go to the crooks that call this a restaurant… Nice job losing a customer.

The food here is great quality – wonderful salads, various kinds of chicken – and the people who run it are totally lovely. A very nice addition to the neighborhood!

Came for Sunday dinner and ordered the family platter — chicken, ribs, Mac n cheese, biscuits and vegetables. The ribs were great! Could’ve eaten those alone. The mac n cheese was good but could have been better had it come out hot. The chicken was tasty and the vegetables were ok. Tried the iced tea and it was as delicious as all the reviews have claimed. All in all, this place is good for chicken ribs and biscuits via take out, not necessarily a sit down dinner spot. They deliver as well, which is a plus.

So i used to work here when i was 15 years old. and still to this day(6 years later) i’m still craving the food! Every time i’m home in the Bronx i always want to visit, but North Riverdale is quite a trek for me. In terms of the food some of my favorites were: Corn Bread(first time i ever had corn bread was here and i fell in love with it) Cole Slaw(SUPER fresh, also my first time having cole slaw was here) Mediterranean Salad. amazing Turkey meat loaf, with a side of sweet potatoes and the spinach is amazing, and has a hint of indian spice which i loved! Wings. always super crispy and yummy, i would always take some home Steak Sandwich: YUM OMG and the Turkey Chili. i still think about it till this day DELICIOUS! And trust me when i say that every single dessert is amazing, and made with love!

I’ve been going here for the past 10 years. Great food, prices are not bad, very friendly people. Although it’s called the«barbecue» pit, it has great alternatives for non meat lovers. Give it a taste!

I love this joint! Yummy food great service and so much is home made! That never happens. Granted it’s not typical southern bbq but Kansas bbq is different from Tennessee bbq. So what? It’s good food.

Always cold. Never on time and also it’s just a lot of money for cold food! Only thing that’s good is the sweet tea. No thanks!

Most of the food is pretty incredible. If when you hear«barbecue» you’re thinking Souther-style barbecue joint, it’s not that. BUT, it is barbecue grilled food that is of great quality. Good meats, good seasoning, just good tasting. HOWEVER… the fries are terrible and cardboardy and the prices are absolutely outrageous. I’m not poor. So I’m not saying that in a «I’m 13 years old and had to spend my whole allowance on this» or like«I had to work 2 weeks to get some ribs» way. I mean in general, the prices make absolutely no sense. Her profit margins must be insanity. Seriously. I would love to see the formulas they use in managing the revenue there. Just go get some meats and buns from the grocery store and grill stuff yourself for a fraction of the cost. You’re probably better off. Also, not a sit down place. Must take out/deliver. I mean, decent use of space for sure, but there’s only so much you can do with a hole in the wall. Also, you know how there are some hole-in-the-wall places that are totally worth going to because the food is great and the prices are great? Or even, especially for NYC, the food is great even though it’s also really expensive? Yeah. I mean, again. The food is good but the balance is not struck. Just not worth it.

Great barbecue place! I stopped in randomly one day. Excellent service and good food. I had the half chicken with macaroni and broccoli. They have something for everyone. Good for family with a kids menu that all kids would like. The owner brought me chips and salsa as an appetizer so that was nice too

Surprise, surprise! I came across this as a Grub Hub rec and thought the menu looked good and different — BBQ and Eastern Fusion — what?! We ordered the food and the people were super nice on the phone — and I was really surprised at the quality of the food. We tried a little of as much as we could, since it was a new place — like others, I docked a star because portions were a little small for the price — but not too bad. I had the fish and chips, which was catfish and it was still crunchy when it came. The fries are thin and though soggy(mostly from takeout, probably) taste substantial, as they’re thin cut with the skin on. The mac and cheese didn’t look good, but then I tasted it and realized it was as good as mom’s home cooking. The hamburger was like one you would make at home — I feel like the food here is home cooking and not a lot of trucked in stuff and preservatives. I could be wrong, but it seems like this stuff was *made.* We had the pork samosas, which were good — but I got a cranberry and mango chutney and I really wanted cilantro. Had apple pie and key lime pie — both were very good. The key lime was pleasantly tart. I want to try the greens, cornbread, ribs, turkey chili and turkey meatloaf. I will be back.

I disagree with Tom A.‘s review of the ribs. We just had them for the first time. Seasoning or rub is charred to the meat, but the ribs were not burned. Quite the opposite, they were thick, moist, and uniquely delicious! I was pleasantly surprised with the spinach and mashed potatoes too. The Bronx has BBQ that I didn’t know NYC had! Being from Ohio and having lived in the South for ten years, my real BBQ cravings will finally be satisfied!

Interesting take on BBQ. A real hole in the wall with some surprising renditions of American classics. Good veggie options, burgers, turkey burgers, and finger foods — samosas, fried chicken chunks, and the like. Portions are a bit skimpy and it’s somewhat expensive for what it is.

Had the chicken and ribs with spinach and cornbread to take out. it seemed like a very comfortable place to eat and converse with patio style storefront. Seems most people order out cuz no one was in sight i went around lunch may be a different story in the evening. Ribs were amazing tender and juicy… meat fell right off the bone. Chicken was the same calibur. Spinach was seasoned with indian herbs tasted great. Cornbread was decent. Best BBQ i had in the bronx. No bar… high priced … Tis life Small and cozy but comfortable. Price is not cheap but food is well worth it… you wont find comparable BBQ in a 5 mile radius. Will go again!

I have been going to Barbecue Pit for a few years and love it! I occasionally get the craving for some chicken or ribs with macaroni and cheese and collard greens. I have taken friends to the restaurant as well and they loved the food. I am happy that they are in the neighborhood.
