Bagels are ok and are overpriced, but that’s everywhere! However, the people that work there look like they hate being there and are miserable. I will not be returning to this bagel shop because they do not know what customer service means. I like to walk into a business where the workers are happy to be there and are welcoming.

Great bagels! Crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. Just the right amount of cream cheese, perfect combination! The line was moving fast and service was very efficient, we had our bagels in no time. Love this place. Cash only and no seating, but that’s fine with me.

This place used to be my favorite, even though the staff is unfriendly. However, they do not make their own bagels anymore. They have them delivered from somewhere else. They open at 6, but don’t have Bagels until 6:30. The bagels used to be crunchy and fresh. The bagels are now doughy. If I wanted a Doughy bagel I can just go to Dunkin donuts.

Decent New York bagel, hard on the outside and chewy inside. Ordered an everything with lox cream cheese spread — not toasted. A bit stingy with the lox cream cheese but tasty. However, not exceptional which is surprising for the neighborhood and its population. Hubs ordered a whole wheat with tuna — toasted. bagel boss has better veggie tuna and the bagel was status quo. He was quite unimpressed and prefers to purchase bagels at key food and self prep a sandwich. Staffers could have been friendlier but I’ve come to realize that Riverdale isn’t the friendliest place to live. Cash only but there’s an hsbc with an ATM nearby so no worries.

Who owns this place? The only one person who is nice is the guy. There are two nasty, nasty, women with attitude who work behind the counter. Who the heck are they to work at a store with these atrocious attitudes? Who hired them? They also need to change their gloves. They use the same gloves to serve bagels as they do touching ur money. The bagels used to be good but now the bagels taste like they were u frozen before they were put into the metal bins. Owner must’ve definitely changed.

**please take note** the first thing you will notice from this place are the miserable expression across the face of the staff, in particular, the two older women. Service is attrocious. Also, I CRINGE when people say these are the best bagels? Ladies and gentleman we have lost our standard of quality. Maybe the customers have been condemned to these horrible dunkin-donut bland bagels for so long they don’t know any better. Unfortunately, the choices for bagel selection in this area slim. I don’t sugar coat.

Bagels are good. Not great, CERTAINLYNOT anywhere near an H&H as some reviews claimed. These have to be the best bagels in this area because there aren’t any other bagel places IN the area, so unfortunate. They are also extremely expensive for a bagel. $ 18 for 3 bagels and 2OJ’s is insane. Everything bagels need to have EVERYTHING on them. Not just garlic and poppy seeds. Rude staff. I mean Soup Nazi rude. Each time I go I ask for LIGHT butter and am gifted with globs, enough to run over my movie theater popcorn. I’m afraid what happens if you ask for extra of something. 2 stars because the bagels are just okay. And that’s it. A small step above a bagel in a bag at the store. I wanted to add a photo but for whatever reason I can’t. I have one of a puddle of melted butter(literally) under the soaked bagel. Everything Butter sponge, anyone?

Good enough bagels with a grouchy cashier. The rest of what would be friendly staff have no time to look up from being overworked.

Very good bagels & I think they also own Rolen’s Bagels on Riverdale Ave. These two venues are a notch below the old H&H Bagels downtown in Manhattan which is pretty darn good.

I really really want to enter a place with the word«bagel» in its name and be satisfied with the bagels. But it didn’t happen here. I ordered their«new» egg bagel and received a specimen that was paler than a regular bagel, and just as plain. Over-starched, possibly steamed; I don’t see how it could have been boiled. No character… and somehow they’ve survived all this time? Ah well, I’ll journey elsewhere next time. The two stars are for having a jalapeño cream cheese that actually has some bite, but I’d prefer to bring my own bagel from a better place.

If your looking for a good bagel and cup of coffee first thing in the morning go to the bodega. The women in bagel corner are nasty enough to ruin your entire day

How can you be out of everything? This place does not understand they are here for customers… they were out of lemons, they were out of change(and they only take CASH?!), they can’t put tofu cream cheese on your bagel, the stand up counter to eat at is covered with a sales rack and giant trash can– they just don’t seem to have it together. And by all means, don’t expect anyone to be pleasant. The bagels, on the other hand, are not bad.

I like their bagels and coffee. However, Valerie, the mean lady behind the counter could not be any more rude and unwelcoming. I prefer their sister store«Rolen Bagels» on Riverdale avenue whose staff is a lot more friendly.

I was charged almost 5 dollars for two bagels with cream cheese, which IMO is way too expensive for average tasting bagels. I wouldn’t go back any time soon.

Really good bagels. The service is borderline cruel. Real old-school Riverdale jerks. Terrible, horrible people. I have no doubt in my mind that they would kick a baby if they thought they could get away with it. I think it’s a family business, too. I don’t want to imagine what their reunions are like. They may or may not be related to the guys at Rolen Bagels a ways down the street, where the bagels are inferior but the non-bagel food is better and they’re very slightly friendlier. You should go anyway, though. Just bite your tongue for the 30 seconds it’ll take to get your food.

Best bagels in Riverdale, hands down! Get the poppyseed bagle toasted and slathered in butter, an everything with cream cheese and a large coffee. Thats how you start the day out right in the Bronx! That being said, you should know what you’re getting into. The women who work there have a real NYC edge to them — they’re quick and they mean buisness. There aint no A/C in the place, so they’ll turn off the toaster if its hot out and they don’t mess around with credit cards or medium size cups. Its take out only, but don’t worry you won’t want to stay long anyways. Bottom line: Go for the bagles and coffee, ignore the attitude.

My first time here and I asked for my bagel to be toasted. The surly woman behind the counter told me «we don’t toast.» I saw the toaster right behind her, so I said«oh, is your toaster broken?» when the response was«it isn’t broken, we don’t toast, it’s too hot», I walked out and won’t be back. Maybe their bagels ate as good as the other reviewers claim, but this woman has either got to get an attitude adjustment, or be fired and replaced with someone who understands the meaning of customer service and appreciation.

Grumpy people Don’t toast Cash only And the bagels aren’t good enough for me to deal with any of the above issues. Absolute Bagels is cash only, their line is out the door, but their bagel is top notch. If you live in Riverdale, it’s fine in a pinch. Run some errands in the city, and hop off the 1 at Absolute for the real thing.

By far the BEST bagels in Riverdale. The onion bagel with plain cream cheese is my usual here, and I sometimes find myself dreaming about it. I will go as far as to say my favorite bagel in NYC, or maybe… the world. Yeah, I said it… The bagels are pretty damned near perfect. The slightly hard rind and the chewy center? Carb heaven. A true neighborhood gem… and the coffee is pretty good too. And a great tasting whole wheat bagel?! I kid you not. The place can get a bit backed up in the morning(isn’t that a good sign?) but they seem to speed through customers efficiently and send them happily on their way, bagel and coffee in hand. However, take heed… there is one woman who works here who has become a neighborhood institution for how sour and easily irritated she is. I’m sure many a Riverdalian has experienced this scenario: You are on line and the polite unsuspecting person in front of you requests a toasted bagel, and you think to yourself«Oh boy, here it comes…» and sure enough, the dread bellow«WEDON’T TOAST!!!». Alas, this scenario won’t play out anymore, as I’m pretty sure they actually have started toasting(which I think is unnecessary when the bagels are so damned good — its like ordering a great cut of steak well done). And they have added other carby goodnesses like flagels and onion twists and the like. Atkins dieters beware…

The waitstaff here reminds me that other people get grumpy too, but if you can overcome the fact that the women who work here look forever offended and angry, you won’t be sorry. Coffee is $ 1.25. That pisses me off. I like to buy regular coffee for $ 1 or less, is that so wrong? But I digress… Bagels are on point. Come at the crack of dawn on the weekend OR after 11 am, anything in between, and all you’ll get is a line. Do not bother asking for a toasted bagel, it’s not going happen. Go to Liebman’s for lox or other fixings. Also, can get an fat girl clap for Syrian onion rolls? Absolutely fabulous!
