Peter David Salon

I brought in a picture of a shoulder length cut with super blonde color with dark roots. I left with brown hair that was ten inches shorter. I called back an hour later saying I wasn’t happy and was told to come back in. I did and a few blonde highlights were hastily placed and I was charged $ 50 for it. Over $ 350 for something that has taken over a year to fix (at a different salon obviously)! No follow up call or anything.

Not impressed, terrible experience! The only reason the salon is getting a star is for the product lines they use. I came here on the recommendation of a friend and great Unilocal reviews and had my hair cut by Roxanne. She was unprofessional and it was a disaster, involving her recutting my entire hair after cutting/​blowing it out, without asking, or stoping when I asked her to. It took over 2 hours and I ended up the worst haircut I have ever had after spending a year carefully growing it out – Apparently she didn’t like the cut I had asked for. It now appears as though someone took a machete to my head, with blunt uneven chunks everywhere. I went back to try and have her fix it and she spent the entire time telling me I just didn’t know what I wanted, that I’ve probably never had a good haircut before, and that all I could do was to let it grow out and start over, but that it was ok because I was someone who could wear a bag over my head and still look fine. Not what you want to hear from your stylist you just paid $ 65 to an spent 2 hours with. The salon never called to check in or offered to compensate me in any way, and were pretty rude overall. Apparently it’s under new ownership. Go somewhere else (anywhere else)!

I used to really like going to Peter David Salon but the last two times I was there the vibe was different and I didn’t feel as comfortable. The price went up also.

Trying out new salons because my former place closed. I used a living social deal and was matched with Roxanne and it was meant to be. She was patient and gave me full highlights and cut that complimented my personality and lifestyle. And they play great music while you’re there. Very happy with my experience. Already made my 6 weekend appointment to go back.

Not at all impressed with this salon. They are way overpriced for their location and services that they provide. For the money that they charge, you can go to another high end salon and get pampered.
Unfortunately they cannot take constructive criticism from people, because they keep requesting my posting be deleted.
As another reviewer posted, this is an over priced Supercuts!!!

This place is excellent, and if you’re a new client I’d highly recommend Travis. He has 25 years experience coloring, styling, cutting… he does it all. I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed. I’m a blonde, picky about my hair to a point of embarrassment haha, and have tried a ton of high end salons. I currently live in Hoboken, NJ and drive to Peter David Salon just for my hair — yep, it’s that’s good!

After a year of neglecting my hair due to an intensive graduate school program, I realized that I was in need of some serious change and looked into many salons in the area. The reviews I read about Travis at Peter David Salon made me trust him implicitly when I made an appointment for balayage highlights. I have since returned for a second appointment and will see him many times in the future. Just give him an idea of what you want to work from and he will work his magic while you relax with a glass of wine and walk out with a smile on your face. He is also passionate about his craft, and I have seen him stay late to make sure a client was perfectly happy with her hair. He stays up on the latest styles and techniques and often returns to NYC for advanced classes on the most cutting edge techniques at Loreal.

I wish I could give more stars! I am in love with this place. Roxanne is a life saver. I love her. She transformed my hair from brittle and orange ombré gone wrong to beautiful soft and flowing. I am so happy with the work that she did. She also cut and blow dried it and then went back over to make sure it all blended. Amazing hairstylist! Also Kendra helped in the beginning and I watched her working on another head and it looked beautiful. Great salon! I couldn’t be happier.

Funny how things work out. Woke up this morning, looked in the mirror and thought if I don’t cut my hair I’ll die. Fortunately, I went to a little shopping plaza for something else, saw the Peter David Salon and decided to see if the salon takes walk ins. I was lucky because Kendra had a cancellation and was able to cut my hair. I liked her, the salon is very attractively done and thought Peter was a gracious owner/​host. My hair cut is great. I just found myself a new hair salon when I’m in CT. My cut was $ 60 but I pay more in NYC so thought for the service and cut, not a bad price. Very happy I stumbled on them. edited: Kendra is no longer there but it’s a salon I’d go back to and find another stylist.

As a grad student transplant to the New Haven area, I typically wait till I can travel to my home salon for my blonde highlights. After too many weeks though, my hair was in desperate need of some TLC. I found the Peter David Salon through Unilocal & I’m so glad I did! Travis worked some serious magic & my cut/​color ended up exactly what I had in mind!

Travis is the best, I’ll follow him anywhere. I have searched all over the new haven area for someone who understand hair and he’s just amazing!

I am a young male professional who always had trouble finding a barber/​stylist who could provide a nice, professional looking, longer haircut. Travis at Peter Davids in Branford has a great eye for style and design and provided me with a cut that was just what I was looking for. The salon has a great lay out, is both clean and modern, and the staff are all great. The prices are highly competitive and to add, coffee, muffins, are available if you’re into that.
Will definitely be back!

Peter David Salon is fantastic, and you feel pampered the minute you walk in the door. Everyone is so welcoming, and the space has a sophisticated elegance… there are beautiful arrangements of fresh flowers, and the décor is simple and elegant… AND, there are iPads to use with every imaginable magazine subscription and internet access too… so cool!
Tina has been my stylist and colorist for many years and she is a true professional… she listens very carefully to what I want, but also makes great suggestions to optimize my look and help me take care of my hair. I have gotten so many compliments over the years on Tina’s great work, and several of my friends started going to Tina after asking me who does my hair…
Travis is also an exceptional hairdresser, and both he and Tina have won awards for their work, and have styled for runway shows and other industry events… they are always up to date on the latest style and color trends… I love them both!
Finally, I have to comment on the Kerastase line of hair color and hair care products that are used at this salon. My hair has never looked or felt so shiny and healthy, and the color seems to last longer without fading.
So, do yourself a favor and make an appointment… you can even use their online booking system which is so easy, or you can call. I guarantee you will be very happy that you did!

This salon is top notch. The staff is so friendly and inviting. It is so clean you can probably eat off the floor. Natalie is a dream come true. My hair was a hot mess and she took the time to do a great consultation, recommend products and future treatments. I will never go to another salon again. Prices are about average and worth every penny. The personal touches are a bonus as well. Today I went for a simple conditioning treatment and blow dry and was given a long stem rose before I left. Can’t say enough about this place. It’s about time someone in the area got it right.

I have had a great experience at Peter David Salon. The owner Peter is very friendly, and the staff is all extremely helpful. I’ve gotten my hair cut by Travis for a while, and he has always done a great job. I especially like this place because they are really considerate of the customers — last time I went Peter took time to get to know me and my girlfriend and gave her a rose for New Year’s Eve as well! Overall a great experience

I originally found Natalie at a different salon in New Haven and while the salon itself was fine it was Natalie I returned for. She became my stylist and I owe her skilled hands to the fact that I now — after 30+ years — really like my hair (cut and color). When I called the salon to schedule my next appointment they told me that Natalie had been sick and then quit. The whole thing smelled fishy and while they tried to pawn the owner off on me to do my hair (I remembered hearing him with a client while I was there once and his cockiness was such a turnoff that I knew I’d never want a haircut from him), I declined and did an online search for Natalie.
And I found her at Peter David! Needless to say that the information I was given by her former employers was false (she was not sick and unfortunately due to Natalie’s extreme professionalism I was unable to find out much more than that). So now Peter David salon is where I’m hanging my hat these days for a phenomenal cut, color and style.
The salon is lovely. They have plans to expand and include a variety of awesome-​sounding services over the next year. The energy of the space is light and calm — it’s even more evident that this is a happy work environment now that I’ve been to her former workspace. And a happy work environment is key to good business and retaining skilled staff. And these people are seriously skilled. You won’t be disappointed coming here.

Their stylist Travis gave me a keratin treatment and style. The products they use are fantastic! My hair is shinier and silkier than it’s ever been. The salon is modern looking and the staff is very friendly. I live in New Haven and will definitely take the ride to Branford to go back there.
