service is terrible. u stand there waiting to try on clothes and theres no one in sight. then no matter what time of day or nite theres always a huge line and only one person if anyone behind the counter and then theres a few other people just standing there or just walking around. why cant more peple just jump on a register? I cant tell you how many times ive just walked out. no rush to go back.

Let me set the scene for you — I’m a loyal Express customer, a member of their Next rewards program. I have a dinner date tomorrow and wanted a new outfit. On top of that I had a gift card and the entire store was 40% off. I also walked in with other shopping bags, which if I’m not mistaken is a surefire sign that someone wants to shop(yes, I’ve worked retail). I’m not sure you could have had someone more intent on spending money in that store tonight. I walked in and started browsing, picked up 3 shirts that I intended on buying without even trying on and then started looking for leggings, specifically an Express staple — the Scuba legging. I have them already and wanted to buy two more pairs. I didn’t see them at first so I asked an associate — he advised leggings were in the back of the store, so off I went. No Scuba leggings. Next, I asked another associate if maybe I was just missing them — She was new and didn’t seem to know the product — OK, at least she told me she was new and walked me back to the front of the store. At this point. I’m a little antsy and want to buy my stuff and move on so she calls the manager over. The manager is in plain site chatting with a friend. She continues to chat and finally comes over while we patiently wait. Once she arrives I ask her for the Scuba leggings to which she replies that«these are them». These rubber leggings are not in fact them. I tell her they are not what I’m looking for and she curtly tells me these are the only rubber leggings that they sell. I advise I am not looking for rubber leggings but the Scuba legging that Express has carried for some time and is currently available online. She tells me they don’t have that legging and I must be mistaken. At this point I just nod and accept the terrible customer service. She leaves to go BACK to chat with her friend without a care in the world. I put all the clothing I was holding on a rack and walked out, heading back to Nordstrom and their wonderful customer service.(Where note, I had already shopped earlier) Nice job, Express. Your best employee tonight was the new girl but unfortunately for her she had no clue and clearly management isn’t helping out much. The lack of customer service and product knowledge was appalling.

My wife and I visited the store on a quiet Tuesday close to closing time. We came in with a bag from Express because we were going to exchange a pair shoes that she purchased at Express in Dedham. We were not greeted upon entering the store. I noticed an employee engaged with either a friend or a co worker. They were engaged for a bit. After they finished talking, the employee, Nicki who ended up being one of the managers, decided that she wanted to provide us with memorable service by following us around the store. From the front to the back, to the front of the store again we were followed. She was treating us like thieves. As a result, my wife ended up with the wrong item because she did not try anything on because we just wanted to leave. This was definitely a case of stereotype and prejudice. Whether it had to do with our ethnicity, race, age or style of clothing we are not sure. Nonetheless this is absolutely wrong, especially considering I am a frequent shopper.

I am a frequent Express customer and have visited several locations in the area. Unlike Courtney L., I have found the staff rude, unhelpful, and hard to get a hold of on multiple occasions. I have never been greeted or asked if I needed any help. The girl on register seemed annoyed at me for no reason on my part. Go to Hingham or Dedham, they’re much nicer and helpful.

I like this store a lot better than the one in Hingham due to its size. The only thing I cannot stand about this store or any of there stores is the fact that I am being OVER helped. Every associate I meet on my way(front of the store/back of the store) is always asking«Can i help you?» or «Did you know… blah blah blah» 9 out of 10 times I am there just browsing and am able to find what I want/put my own outfit together. I once had a girl follow me around telling me about the perks of being a credit card holder. The nice thing is though is if you«left» your coupons at home & can describe what the deal was they will almost always give you the discount
