If you’re in the mood for crab cakes, this is the place. The plus side is that it’s convenient to DC. A must have is the Crab Bomb.

The food was delicious had the crab imperial and couldn’t have been better. I don’t really care for the family style seating and they are a bit pricey, but fresh seafood isn’t cheap to get either so understandable they must pass on the cost. It was the end of a long day shopping and I wanted a really good treat and that is exactly what I got.

Jerry’s has a nice atmosphere. The crab bomb is really terrific. The service was fine. I realize crab is expensive but Jerry’s is a bit too expensive for my liking. I would love to be a regular customer but price would deter this from happening. I would save it for a special occasion. If in the Bowie area and want amazing crab, visit here and get the crab bomb. But bring a full wallet!

I had heard a lot about Jerry’s but was not all that impressed. The Crab Bomb was good… But it’s kinda hard to mess up a ball of crab meat, don’t ya think? At any rate, I’d go back if someone wanted to go, but it wouldn’t be my first choice.

Came here on a Wednesday night for an impromptu dinner. We waited about 10 min to be seated. Service was mediocre but not bad. The crab dip as an appetizer was delish! Nothing but lump meat. I’m glad I ordered the mini bomb because that 6 oz. of lump was more than enough. Food was above average and fast. Better Drinks and service would make this a 5 star

After enjoying me time, I needed to refuel and warm myself up because cold wet weather isn’t a good combo for me. My best friend was running late as usual and i sit at the bar because the vibes were good and the Wizards were playing, Friendly bartender made my drink and took my order and my friend shows up and orders similar we both decided to stay at the bar since it seemed more livier than the dining area, the dining area was nicely decorated for the holidays and it seemed more for larger parties than just us two. I ordered a cream of crab soup because that’s my favorite during the winter and I heard that they don’t disappoint here. I was hoping that I wouldn’t be disappointed after my failed dinner at Matchbox. I ordered the fish and chips and the crab bomb, my friend got a salad and drinks. The verdict on cream of crab, it was so delicious! The best I had thus far. Each spoonful had chunks of lump of crabmeat! Matchbox please take notes from this place! It was well seasoned and it was served hot! My fish and chips were good as if I were in England. Hot and fresh and most importantly the fish was fresh and served hot. The chips aka fries were the best! I don’t know what type of batter they used but it was good. Crab bomb was great as my friend and I decided to spilt it since I was getting full and she was full off her salad and drinks. It was well seasoned and not mixed with breading as some places rip you off by doing that. The greens were good, baked potato we passed, too much carbs. Bartenders were all nice and helpful especially the younger male bartenders. The crab bomb is one of my favorites now and will come back to this location.

Sucks! Phillip Gainey called me a liar when I told him we were unhappy with our service even BEFORE ordering… Pour Jason! Having to work with such a jerk! We used to spend a grand a month as a family here… NEVERAGAIN! ALL because our server was very slow and extremely rude… And who pays 100 bucks a person to be waited on by someone dressed for work at a sports barwhen ALL the other tables have nicely dressed waiters… Good luck. I see why your businesses are doing so poorly…

On my last night in Bowie, I asked my friend where I could get a good crab cake. He recommended a place in Baltimore(G&M), but I wanted to stay local so he told me to check out the crab bomb at Jerry’s Seafood. That sounded adventurous — crab bomb– so I thought –why not? As you approach Jerry’s, you see their signature dish touted on their front sign: «Jerry’s Seafood — Home of the Crab Bomb.» Yes, they are very proud of their crab bomb — proud to the tune of $ 35. My friend had warned me that the crab bomb would set me back $ 35, so I wasn’t shocked, but I did expect Jerry’s to be a somewhat upscale fine dining seafood restaurant. It is not. As I entered I almost felt like I was in one of those all-you-ca-eat buffet places that your parents like to take you to. The décor is very simple — One large room filled with tables and chairs. Not much for ambiance. But then again, I didn’t come for the ambiance. I came for the food. I surveyed the menu, confirming that the crab bomb was, in fact, $ 35. There were a few other options that intrigued me.(What? Is that a raw bar boat I see against the wall??) They have a small version of the bomb called the«baby bomb,» but even that was $ 27. I had come for the full bomb and figured that it was something I should try on my last night in Maryland. The menu promised a 10-ounce mound of crab(no fillers!) served up with two sides. My sides were green beans and baked potato. When the plate came out, it certainly looked impressive. Beautiful chunks of crab meat in a half-softball mound, baked to a nice crisp. I flaked off the first bite, inspecting the inside to see if I could spot any filler. Nope — just crab meat. And it was very good, albeit somewhat greasy. The sides were nothing stellar. Was it the best crab cake I had ever eaten? No. Not by a long shot. Was it worth $ 35? Ummm… probably not. I’ve had better crab cakes in Minnesota for less. Yes, I said it — Minnesota. But I was looking for crab in Bowie and that is exactly what I got. The service was friendly but on the slow side. If you are in Bowie, looking for crab, then this may be your best bet. But a better bet would probably be to drive to G&M. Enjoy!

A buddy of mine called last night and said, «You know, it’s been a while since we’ve been to Jerry’s… wanna go?» With absolutely no encouragement needed, we were soon on the Beltway and making our way towards Bowie for another wonderful dinner at Jerry’s. We started with the spiced shrimp, served steamed, peeled, and de-veined. I don’t know of any other place in the area that actually preps the shrimp like this for its patrons — all you have to do is pick one up, dunk it into the house-made cocktail salt, and eat! We both had what Jerry’s is best known for, the Crab Bomb — 10 ounces of absolutely delicious jumbo lump crab, with no filler at all. We ordered the Firecracker version which, in addition to the Old Bay seasoning found in the classic version, is also seasoned with black pepper and dry mustard, giving a really nice kick to what is, by far, the best crab cake in the DC area. For your choice of sides, have the seasoned wedge cut fries and Grandma Gainey’s coleslaw along with your Crab Bomb. Don’t think twice… you know you want ‘em. It’s worth the drive to Jerry’s and, for those of you closer to DC, it’s not as far as you might think. The back of the runners’ T-shirts says it all: #CrabBomb !!!

As soon as we entered the man at the desk was on the phone seemingly on a personal call so we were never greeted. The woman that took us to our seats was surly because one of our party didn’t want to sit near the kitchen so she led the way to another table, flung the menus down without asking is this ok. Our order was all wrong, I had ordered fries and got green beans instead. My friends who had ordered baked potatoes both had under cooked and hard potatoes. Our waiter(Alex B) never came to see if our order was right so we had to flag him down. As we waited for our replacement food, our other food was getting cold. No apologies, nothing. Once we got the correct order, still nobody asking if things were now ok. Even the toilets weren’t clean and the handicapped one had no toilet tissue. The absolutely worst service from such an expensive restaurant. Who cannot cook a baked potato? The waiter never asked if we would like drink refills or would we like to see a dessert menu so we asked for the check and left. If I could give no stars I would.

Yesterday I seriously considered driving back to Bowie, from Va, for another crab bomb. It was so good. I think the best food is prepared the simplest. Take quality food and cook it. Don’t bother with the small bomb, get the regular size so you have leftovers. The green beans were still crisp and the slaw was tasty, just the right amount of celery seed. I also had the warm rum cake, plan to have that. Next time I visit, I will ask if they can mix old bay into the mixture before baking it. Mine was orange from the ample sprinkling I did, I like old bay. Work this place into your restaurant list, even as a stop to/from BWI, it’s worth it.

The crab bomb was excellent and the serving size is enough for two people. The service was good and the servers were friendly.

There are two locations Bowie and Lanham, I was at the Bowie location yesterday. The majority of the table ordered crab bombs, but we also got a variety of apps. Basically anything with crab will have large lumps of crab, not the stringy left over bits you find in cheaper crab cakes. The flavor on the crab dip, and crab soup(I tried all three!) were really good. The crab bomb was good, but not anything I’ll talk about. Maybe I got spoiled growing up in Maryland? Pretty slow service for the price you pay. Also this is not the place to bring kids. If you feel like getting good seafood, but not driving all the way to Annapolis this is a solid option.

When I read«Home of the Crab Bomb» in reference to Jerry’s, I felt a bit like emitting an evil genius-doctor laugh while hunched over rubbing my hands together. Crab BOMB! So we had to try this place. The place is casual with an upscale feel while not being pretentious like some seafood restaurants I have been to. Once seated, we were greeted by a chipper(almost too happy) waitress who explained the specials of the day and took our drink orders. They had a special Yuengling that day — wheat. Ice cold and smooth — just what I needed after a nine hour drive. So we started with the crab dip. Sensational! There were chunks of crab for every last bite. Long after the dip seemed done, the wife was dipping into the corners with the toast points trying to get every morsel. We moved on to the entrees. They have a seafood platter on the menu named«Mariner’s Platter». I had my eye on this since we first opened the menu. I asked the server what made up this platter. Four proteins and a two sides. I balked at that when she then told me that they have another platter that isn’t on the menu. So I asked if I needed to get a special code for her to tell me about that one. No. She told me that this platter came with my choice of two proteins and two sides. Well, okay then. I went with that one because I am counting calories. And they are adding up quickly! So I ordered the scallops seared, oysters fried, with baked potato and a side salad. My buddy ordered the special crab and shrimp bomb with baked potato. This was one of the specials and it is made the same as their usual crab bomb, but comprised of 60% chopped shrimp and 40% lump crab. I didn’t order this myself because he ordered it and I simply planned on eating part of his. The wife ordered the crab cakes — baked(you get your choice of preparation), with veggie of the day. We all got side salads. My scallops were done perfectly. Seared properly with a light crust and opaque and almost raw in the center. Sweet, succulent, and worthy of fork stabby if anyone tried to take one. The oysters were done properly. Lightly breaded and flash fried so they were not chewy at all. The breading was seasoned just right. The baked potato was baked. The wife’s crab cakes were the real deal. Barely any filler and full of crab. There was no overwhelming heavy handedness with the Old Bay either. But the star of this meal was that crab and shrimp bomb. This was incredible and the reason why I love seafood. I realized this was my buddy’s meal, but we «helped» him with the bomb. It was 10oz and the size of a softball. One of the highlights of this place was the sense of humor our server had. We were ribbing her all evening and she truly was a sport. She disappeared on us for a while, but she did recover. Her service was commendable as well. At one point she asked my wife if she needed a box. The exchange went a little like this: Me: are you really going to put the food in the box? Her:(perplexed) What? Me: the food. are you going to really put it in the box. Her: no, this is how it works, first I take the food away, then I eat it, then I give her the box. Me: LOL — okay, thanks! So I am imagining that I will be checking in from Jerry’s next time I am in Bowie.

I was rather unimpressed with this place. When I pay $ 60 for just myself(tax and tip included) for an average place, then I want to have a fantastic experience to warrant a second visit. However, this was a girls night out and I had to pay for my own meal. I would only return if someone else was paying. Anyways, I ordered: 1. Firecracker Crab bomb(extremely unimpressed) 2. Crab dip(shared with others and it was so good I almost ordered another for just myself) 3. Cream of crab soup(very good) Also, the homemade blue cheese was extremely thick for it to be a salad dressing. It was the consistency of dip.

If you’re a crab cake aficionado, look no further than Jerry’s Seafood. I’ll give you the quick and dirty. I went with a group of friends on a Sunday evening. We sat a high top table by the bar so that we could get quicker service. We ordered the crab dip as an appetizer, and it was delicious. I had the catfish, which was ok, and the crab cakes, which were OUTOFTHISWORLDGOOD. Also, their bread is tasty, and their HALFANDHALFISRIDICULOUSLYADDICTIVE! I mean two carafes later, and I still wanted more. I’ll be back soon to try the crab bomb, which I’ve heard great things about.

The home of the CRABBOMB never fails me! I’ve never visited this location, only the original location in Lanham. I was impressed! Located in the same section of the parking lot where the Bowie Movie Theater and TGIF’s is, this Jerry’s location is much more modern than the original location. Fireplace roaring, tons of tv’s in the bar and extremely friendly staff assisted me. As per usual, the food was delicious and the drinks were strong. Yes, it’s a bit pricey, but in my opinion the food is worth it. The Crab Bomb is literally the bomb!(See my review on the original location) This succulent jumbo crab cake with little filler and no shells makes me want to slap someone! The crab cake is accompanied with two sides of your choice. Fabulous meal! Either location does the job. As long as they keep cranking out those crab cakes, I will be a customer for life!
