That being said, Emmy was great! She found a happy medium between several reference photos I brought in and even dried my hair so that I could see it before we decided to go shorter. Conversation was pleasant but not forced or «catty» like I’m sure we’ve all experienced at some salons. She styled my hair before I left and didn’t make me feel like she was rushing to get somewhere. Her space is beautifully decorated and, while not cheap, I find her pricing on-​point with independent stylists in Boulder. I would definitely trust her with my hair and hope to get some color work done the next time I’m in. Thanks, Emmy!

I started going to Emmy about a year ago, after just moving to Denver. She’s cut and styled my hair better than anyone — ever! My mom and sister are always complimenting how great my hair is looking these days, and they are well versed on the tumultuous history of my thick, course hair.
Emmy also recently did my mother and and my hair and make-​up and all of my bridesmaids’ hair for my wedding. I couldn’t have been happier with it all! She did a great job making everyone look and feel like their most beautiful selves, without making any of the ladies look overly done-​up. And she’s always a pleasure to hang with while she’s making her magic happen — my wedding day was no different. She kept the wedding-​day vibe just as chill as I needed it to be. I can’t recommend Emmy enough!

Do yourself a favour and go see Emmy! I am visiting Boulder for a few months and my hair really needed some love and attention. Emmy was ahhhmazing! She took the time to understand what I wanted, what I liked and didn’t like about how my hair was coloured, I felt like she was really working through what was going to work for my hair and me.
I have naturally brown hair, that has been blonde for years, but my last hairdresser was rather lazy about the colour and it felt flat and blah. I am always apprehensive about going to a new stylist but Emmy put me at ease right away with the initial consultation. She added much needed depth to my colour, and the cut and blow out is gorgeous. I walked out so so happy with how it looks and a little sad at the same time because it’s going to get costly to travel from Australia to Boulder to get Emmy to do my hair!

I recently moved to Colorado and I’ve been looking for a good stylist for a while now, and after having a few terrible haircuts I stumbled across Sage Studio. It had great reviews so I set up an appointment with Emmy. This past Saturday I went in and got my first haircut from her. When I first got there we sat down and talked a little about what I wanted and she recommended some things and I said go for it. I AM SO GLAD I DID. I don’t remember the last time I walked out of a salon feeling good about my hair before Saturday, but even two days later I’m still loving how easy and manageable it is.
Emmys studio is wonderful and Emmy herself is very down to earth and very personable. My Fiancé tagged along with me on this occasion because he wanted to do some climbing in Boulder after and he said he even enjoyed the experience… and he was just sitting on the couch!
So happy to have found Emmy and I will definitely be using her in the future!

I’ve been using one of the finest Denver salons for years. I pay twice what I paid in Denver for what I received a Sage Studio. I get 2/​3rds the quality. My search for a Boulder stylist continues.

My mom was visiting for a girls’ weekend, and I wanted to treat her to a fabulous time including a great cut and style. I found Emmy by searching Unilocal for the best stylist in Boulder, and am so glad I did! The moment we entered Emmy’s Zen-​like studio, I knew we were in for a treat. From the calming color palette to the scented candles to the bowl of chocolate treats, you can tell Emmy has put a lot of thought and care into creating a space for respite and self-​care. Several of these reviews have mentioned Emmy’s orbit of positive energy, and I couldn’t agree more. She took the time to truly listen to my «hair story» and create a cut and style that would work for me. There was no guilt trip or nagging about split ends or heat damage, just positive and affirming suggestions for working with my texture. I think Emmy is an intuitive spirit with a gift for understanding what will work for someone on a soul level. My mom and I both left feeling transformed. I can’t wait to go back!

Emmy is a phenomenal! I get compliments on my hair cuts all the time. She’s incredibly talented and really takes the time to get to know her clients. I highly recommend her. She’s outstanding, I can’t say enough wonderful things about her.

My hair is looking and feeling great after my first appointment with Emmy. Not a lot of stylists have been able to understand my hair texture and my salon experiences have been fraught with the stress of getting another bad cut. Emmy made me feel comfortable right away. She was able to assess the positives about my hair and execute a cut and color that is flattering for me. I felt confident that we were communicating clearly and I was not surprised by a color or cut that I didn’t want. I feel comfortable with her skills and I might even try to make a big change to my look with Emmy sometime. I will definitely be returning to her cozy studio for my future haircuts.

Emmy did my hair and makeup on my wedding day and I recently started having her cut my hair as well. She is as good as it gets and her space is just the right size and is very tranquil. No bullshit, no product pushing, just a great stylist with 13 years of experience and wisdom.

Emmy is the one. Look no further. She is the most creative, inspiring, and wicked hair visionary you can imagine. Talented beyond belief, and as nice as she is talented. I discovered Emmy in 2009 after eight years of ‘meh’ haircuts from various stylists throughout Boulder. I was immediately smitten with her hair wizardry, and delighted to have stumbled into Emmy’s orbit of positive energy. She gets the intangible connection between hair and personality, whether it is a 20-​something, 40-​something, or 60-​something woman in her chair (or a kid; my kids adore Emmy). She always turns me into the best possible version of myself, and she listens. I’ve also had Emmy do my hair and makeup for two special occasions outside of her studio (a photo shoot and a wedding); each was made more fun by having Emmy there, and her artisanry was exquisite and perfect each time.
Stepping into Emmy’s studio is to step into a retreat, a magical space outside of the mundane Boulder world outside. A refuge for those of us who love Boulder, and who take the time to find the very best. Love and respect; highly, highly recommended.

Emmy is amazing. She gave me a short and sassy haircut months ago and I couldn’t be more happy. I receive compliments nearly daily! She’s a true artist and takes her time with style. My cut grows out well and today, even after wearing a hat for hours and a workout at the gym, another stranger told me I have great hair. I owe it all to Emmy and wouldn’t see anyone else. She’s thoughtful and takes pride in her work. She’s also fun to talk to!
Her studio is adorable and intimate: a one chair room hidden inside the doors marked Sola Salon Studios. Allow yourself a few extra minutes to find it on the day of your first appointment. The entrance is on the north side of the building that also has the School of Rock, Phở Basil and a CorePower Yoga studio. If driving north on 28^th St, turn right into the CorePower parking lot, just north of Glenwood Drive, and stay to the left/​north of School of Rock.

Emmy is the kind of person who just looks at you and somehow knows what would be the perfect haircut for you right then in that moment of your life. It is so fun to sit down in her chair and let her work her magic. Emmy is the best. She is also particularly gifted at creating beachy natural highlights, which grow out wonderfully. Emmy is phenomenal. She’s a passionate perfectionist mixed with a visionary hair artist. And just a lovely gal too. I’ve been a client of Emmy’s for more than 6 years, and she has beautifully taken my hair from long to short, dark brown to auburn to blonde and back again.
