The best choice for quick affordable and tasty food. I’m a big fan. Everytime I crave at night, Illegal Pete is the way to go. Staff great!!!

I really enjoy their breakfast burrito, probably one of my favorite things on the menu. The lunch menu is diverse and has a wide array of choices to choose from, and can cater to anyone. I would like to state though that, their lunch is just okay. I usually get the burrito bowl with chicken and it comes with chips or tortilla. I have an issue with the chicken here, with it being on the dry side. I compare them to chicken and chipotle or qdoba and comparatively illegal Pete’s chicken is pretty dry. I’m not sure if they use the thighs or not but its on the drier side. I have to applaud them for their green chile though, they go well with the breakfast burrito for sure.

First thing I had to eat in Boulder. Soft fresh tortillas with delicious ingredients. Nice vegetarian options. Reasonably priced.

Went here because my boyfriend kept talking about how good it is, I was NOT impressed! Got a carnitas burrito and chicken taco, the meat in both were pretty flavorless and dry despite all the extras I had added on. Guacamole was fresh though. nJust your typical chain taco joint. Will not be coming here again, luckily Pearl Street has many different food options to choose from.

The nephew took us here for lunch and to my surprise it was delicious! I am a sucker for knowing where my meat is raised and how it was cared for. Illegal Pete’s gets their meat about 30 minutes from their restaurant. It is humanely raised and grass fed. No antibiotics or hormones involved! I really wished more restaurants switch to the farm to fork mentality. The food was great! My sister and I shared a steak salad bowl and chicken taquitos. The guac was so rich and so real. It was fresher than other places like chipotle. The green mild sauce is on fire! It has the right amount of heat and flavor. Tomorrow I plan to eat a burrito! As far as atmosphere it’s like every restaurant you go to near the university. It is loud, great music, and filled with so many college kids! The service was OK not being from Colorado I would’ve love a little more leeway when ordering. We really wanted the full illegal experience. All in all its a perfect place to hang out and eat. Do not be afraid of the long lines they serve food fast. Max wait for us was 15 and the line was out the door. Great local flavor!

Cheap and quick breakfast goodies! Loved the quality for the price. The green«medium» salsa wasn’t very spicy but it was super flavorful on my chorizo breakfast quesadilla.

If Chipotle and Qdoba hooked up and had a ridiculously good looking child, it’s name would be Pete. Seriously, I can’t say enough good things about their burritos. Both the carnitas and pesto chicken are great options. They offer choices of white or wheat tortillas, white or brown rice, and a ton of toppings – everything from salsas, guacamole, and queso, to jalepenos, cilantro, and onions. The best part? They mix the filling of your burrito up before wrapping it. The finished product is perfectly blended and ensures the first bite is just as good as the last. The beer selection at the bar only makes it that much easier for me to give them 5 stars.

Illegal Petes is a fun atmosphere. You walk up to the counter and describe to the employee what you want and how you want it made. The food is always good and fresh and the price is decent for what you order. This is a great place to eat for a quick lunch while shopping on the Pearl Street Mall.

I’m really spoiled with my Mexican food in San Diego, but this place was delicious too! Stopped by while visiting Boulder, it’s really neat and packed with college kids. It was definitely a great stop!

I showed up at 10:35am. The staff told me they didn’t have lunch ready yet. I tried to order breakfast but they said they stopped at 10:30. So they couldn’t serve me. They also said they had breakfast food still but it was a precedent that they stop at 10:30 even though they couldn’t serve me lunch. Used to be my favorite place for breakfast burritos. Such a bad experience.

I’m giving these folks five. I’ve been coming here on and off for 10 years. And I have yet to be disappointed, a reliability like that is rare. They seem to have cuter girls on weekends working but I’ll still show up for the dirty hippie shift because they make a killer burrito. The spicy sauce actually has decent kick. I don’t think my bud John who carries his own ghost pepper would agree but I down habanero like crazy and I can live with it. Lots of options haven’t heard a complaint from anyone. I mean it’s not crazy clean its high traffic for sure. What impressed me is that the bar stays pretty mellow and to themselves. Yup there’s a bar aswell. In three words. Quick, Tasty, peoplewatchingprimerealistate. That’s a compound word.

This place makes a great steak burrito. It was so good, aka I was so hungry, that I completely forgot to take a picture of it! I almost bought a second one when it left me wanting more, and it was not small to begin with. The tortilla was thin and I liked that about it since it is usually my pet peeve when ordering a burrito. Also, if you’re into soft and delicious cookies try a white chocolate macadamia one here.

After a long a hike, I wanted to enjoy a big meal. In the outdoor shopping area in Boulder, Illegal Pete’s is located on the corner of Pearl st. This establishment runs like a build your own burrito or bowl. They have tacos available that seem like a hit. The vibe is grunge style with loud alt-rock music and various stickers all around this food stop. As I walked up to order my meal, the employee making my burrito messed up my order. I didn’t mind but was given the rudest reaction. The girl chucked the wrong burrito into the trash, did not say sorry, and sighed before asking a co-worker«what time is it, I need to get out of here.» Im sorry I came here to eat and intruded on your day. Her reaction was horrible. the other employees weren’t nice either. The food was good. I enjoyed the fajita option they had. Really good sautéd veggies. I thought the rest of the items were just fine. the steak wasn’t all too warm. The salsa tasted great but poor heat for a salsa thats considered hot. Overall, the experience was poor. I thought the food was good. This type of food is found everywhere so I’m not quick to come back. 3 stars for decent food and bad service :/

Simple burrito shop that looks exactly as you would come to expect from this type of restaurant. A truly perfect selection of toppings. Swapping cheese, and sour cream, for free guacamole, that’s right up my alley. Came in for the first time tonight because it was open until 2:30am, and I can say safely, I will be back many many many more times. Oh and, my big burrito only cost $ 7 and some change; great deal. Also, I like the name of the restaurant!

Not bad but nothing special. The quesadilla last night lacked the right amount ingredients namely cheese and meat which is kinda what makes a quesadilla. I have eaten at these places many times and while the atmosphere is good I would rather go elsewhere to get my Mexican fix, you can get much better quality food elsewhere for a better price. But that being said not a horrible place to go if your expectations aren’t to high. I would stick to the burritos or tacos.

How much should GUAC + MEAT + SALSA cost? Not $ 9!!! No fun Illegal Pete’s! Convincing your employees to charge customers for products undelivered(aka: rice, beans, cheese, veggies) is not commensurate with your corporate mission statement. The location that I’m referencing is the Hill in Boulder, CO. Charging a customer for products not delivered is a serious fallacy in your pricing model!!! I’m not asking for: lettuce, cheese, rice, or beans. My order is incredibly transparent. Illegal Pete’s pricing structure is obtuse. Please, fix this immediately or I’m done with Illegal Petes.

Stopped in Here for a Burrito before the Avery Brewfest. Delicious just like Illegal Petes in Denver. The guy who made my burrito was a rock star.
