We had a blast here. We got a couple of cheeseburgers and some chicken wings. All delicious and hit the spot. The atmosphere is outstanding with enough landfill to entertain you for hours. The band that fired up was pretty good as well. Overall we had a fantastic experience. Watching the world cup soccer finals was a huge bonus!

After reading many reviews about Dark Horse my sister and I decided to give it a try. This is a college student’s paradise. Good food, good beer, and a really cool atmosphere(didn’t mean to rhyme that but happy it worked out that way). I ordered the Jiffy Burger which is a hamburger with peanut butter on it and loved it! My sister ordered a decked out chicken sandwich and she enjoyed it as well. Depending on the time of day, you will either have to order at the counter or will have wait staff. They also serve Rocky Mountain Oysters here so if you are in to that definitely try them. All in all, this is a really cool place to get an affordable dinner and beer with friends if you are in the Boulder area.

Every time I’ve found myself at the Dark Horse, it has always been in good spirits. Whether I’m on the hunt for wings, a radical burger, or just some out of the ordinary atmosphere, this place delivers. First, the Dark Horse has some of the coolest decorations and ornamental style of any place I’ve found here. Sort of like a symphonic madrigal of railroad props, retro Boulder artifacts, and dive bar classics, you could easily find entertainment in this place just looking at the walls. There are multiple rooms, that all have their own flair; their own je né sais quoi. Second, their food is at the top of the food chain — so to speak — of the dive bar world here. Enthralling burgers, wings, and prime frites are sure to satisfy, but they also have plenty of other options. The beer is not too expensive in my experience, and although the selections are simple, I’m not complaining. The Dark Horse is also quite the venue for nightly things-to-do, with trivia, karaōke, bingo, live music, and the altogether awesome trike races. You can check out their nightly specials here:( ) I’ve found that the crowds differ from night to night, but overall the average age of this bar is seemingly around 30. Para resumir, this place is bar none the funkiest in town — and the food will keep you coming back.

Dark Horse is a Boulder can’t-miss and heaven for burger lovers. You absolutely have to try the Jiffy Burger. It’s phenomenal. And the curly fries can’t be beat. Dark Horse’s atmosphere is weird and fun. A couple of pointers for newcomers: 1.) After a certain hour there’s no wait staff, so you have to walk up to the bar for your drink order, and a separate kitchen window for your food order. 2.) Bathroom signs are intentionally switched to trick you. I fell for it. You’ll walk into the wrong one. It’s part of the charm — they’re just trolling you. 3.) The Jiffy Burger requires lots of napkins. You’ll destroy 127 of them.

Dark Horse has an incredible atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoy the interesting decorations, you could wander around for hours and still find new weird things. They make the best burger in Boulder, and the staff is very enjoyable.

What can I say about the Dark Horse that hasn’t already been said? It’s fantastic. I spent many nights here during my college days and it never disappointed. I love their burgers. Simple, greasy, and delicious. Now that I live in Denver, this place is one of the ones I miss going to on a whim the most.

We were excited to try this place. The vibe was cool and we loved the«go with the flow» atmosphere. But the food was really lacking. We tried the jiffy burger everyone raved about but honestly it was too much pb and not enough of a mix of flavor. It was missing something and our fries were old. Unfortunately this experience didn’t turn out as great as we thought it would. Sorry Dark Horse, but we won’t be back.

We had no idea what we were walking in to when our hotel desk recommended we walk there. It was a labyrinth of wood, wagons hanging from the ceiling, 2 bars in separate rooms, spinning cogs, an outdoor patio, stage with live music, and a walk up window kitchen. This place has many local beers on tap which was cool to see the local support. The staff is awesome. Nicest group of dudes that treated us like they were happy to have us there. The place was packed both nights we went. Yes, we had to go back again. Nobody skipped a beat. Glasses were cleared immediately and my next one was already being poured. Kudos to the staff. As far as food goes, ROCKYMOUNTAINOYSTERS. I kid you not. They’re on the menu. After adventuring through Flatiron and Eldorado Canyon all day I figured why not be adventurous and try some fried testicles. ORDERTHEM! DOIT! They give you a bowl of ketchup and a side of horseradish so, you can make your cocktail sauce to your desire. They were so damn good. Also, peanut butter cheeseburger. I’ll leave it at that. Good luck with the pisser. We will be back.

Good food, but it is NOT cool to switch signs on the bathrooms(ALLTHETIME) so that I accidentally go into the men’s bathroom and see some guys dick. I am the farthest thing from a feminist and still I think it’s FUCKEDUP. Fix your door signs, I complained and was told, «it’s funny» … It’s not fucking funny

Found this super cool«CU» on our trip up here to watch my Wildcats take on the Buffs at basketball. UofA was holding their alum party here. We liked it so much that even though the cats lost we came back here after the game for some more! That’s how good Dark Horse really is. Very roomy, old style car/restaurant. Good selections of beers and they serve pitchers so that can keep the cost down. We tried their dry rub chicken wings and they were amazing! Also the staff was very nice to us on our visit even though we were in our Wildcat gear.lol. The best thing I liked about Dark Horse, that wasn’t the a, along decode, was the bathroom doors. You will see many photos of the doors on here, and so did I even before we came, but it still made me pause and laugh when I got lost. Very funny. Anyways I really did enjoy Dark Hours. We will for sure come back when we are up in the area again!

I come here, well, a lot. The cocktails are alright — probably the most elaborate thing I’ve ordered is an old fashioned. But they have almost all local beers on tap and decent prices for wells(if you come during happy hour, you get two for the price of one). The burgers here are the best! The Jiffy Burger might be my favorite thing on the menu. Probably not the best thing to order on a date, since I had to use like 40 napkins to eat it… But still worth it. I’m usually in the late night crowd, and this place is open until 2AM every day of the week(even Sunday, whaaa?). The bartenders are hilarious and awesome, and the entire vibe of this«saloon style» bar is great. The Dark Horse is also pretty huge, and has a stage and lots of pool tables. You also might find yourself having a good laugh at the eclectic decorations inside. This bar is kind of in a whack location, but it’s great if you are a student in Williams Village area — definitely have some great/hilarious memories at this bar and will continue to come here!

Divey, dirty, and Rocky Mountain oysters? Okay okay, we’ll try it. This was on the list of things to do and after a long day of hiking all throughout Estes Park and dinner, our last stop before heading back to Denver was Dark Horse. Décor? Divey and dirty, just the way I wouldn’t have mind it back in college. We ordered the rocky mountain oysters and boy were they boring. But hey, we had to give it a try! Maybe it’s just that I wasn’t too into the deep friend batter but I’m glad to have had the experience. Apparently this is one of the best places to get the RMO so if you’re interested in sliced, fried bull testicles, drop on by.

I was surprised at how good the food was here but it was great! We met some friends for a few birthday drinks. After absorbing the ambiance and reading all the sarcastic signs, we decided to grab some food. You have to order at the counter and then retrieve baskets when they call your name(i.e. no waitresses — so walk yourself to the bar when you need another drink). The menu is typical bar food — burgers, wings and fried stuff — so I tried the buffalo chicken sandwich with ranch. YUM. It was perfect — a big chicken nugget doused in buffalo sauce on a bun with lettuce and plenty of ranch. Served with curly fries. We got an order of fried zucchini and mushrooms, which were demolished by the table in no time(with everyone pausing just long enough between bites to exclaim how good they were). It was an easy, laid back college vibe. There were CO craft brews on tap. And prices were cheap($ 4 shots). The food was great. And a few college football games were on so we felt like locals, cheering with the bar. I’d definitely go back!

Burgers, Beers, Wings, ROCKYMOUNTAINOYSTERS. Hahah if you are looking to cross eating Rocky Mountain Oysters off your bucket list, here you go! I loved coming here when I used to live in Boulder. They had fantastic burgers, wings, fries and beer selections! I miss it! It’s hidden behind McDonald’s but will still get just as busy! Super casual environment. Order at the counter and they hollaaaa over the intercom. You can hang out with friends, play or watch some games, and make fun of the people going into the wrong bathroom. ;)

Best bar so far during my CO trip. Happy hour margaritas were buy 1 get 1 free and very tasty. I had the Rocky Mountain oysters(these are so hard to find!) and they were incredibly delicious!!! As in, I’d eat more. On a regular basis. And convert disbelievers to the dark side. Eek, that’s the Dark Horse speaking. This place is a trip! Lots of stuff all over to amuse and satisfy curiosities and fun photo ops.

I came here once, with a group of friends, not sure what to expect, I Ubered in to the parking lot, My head was racing, my mind full of thought. What type of beer? What type of food? Would it be fun in here, would the staff be rude? The bar door swung open, sound poured into the street, and like a scene from Lord of the Rings, laughter and merriment rang at my feet. I entered the place and took a look around, so many sights to see, so many sounds. A pack of children was screaming in some pit below, while a few drunk college kids flirted, made romantic by the air hockey tables soft glow. I sat down with friends and we drank our hearts content, Enjoying their fine samples of brews, while participating in the nights event. Overall in the end I dont remember much, Such great beer left my head hazy and such. But to be honest, this place is an establishment staffed by real and fine human beings, hardworking men and women that provide great service and awesome attitude, even if you are a little over the limit. Great beer selection, atmosphere, food menu, and mix of old and new. Very unique for friends and family during the afternoon and evening or a great bar during the night. Check it out. Watch out for the bathrooms.

Im from texas and visiting Boulder they recommended this place to eat wings, place smells dirty, food is good but the cook needs to get a different job or go home if he is not feeling well because he treated us like if he didn’t care about good customer service and he was only trying to finish his work day Still Thinking about coming back

STILLCRAZYAFTERALLTHESEYEARS… I went to school in Boulder 35 years ago and this place was one of my favorite hangouts. It’s still the same crazy place as before with all sorts of stuff hanging from the ceiling and no matter where you look you find some item of curiosity to wonder what it was used for. The food is very good, but don’t go here expecting to be waited on or for it to be so clean you can eat off of the floor, there are just too many things about for it to be spotless. I actually bet spotless and Dark Horse have never been used before in the same paragraph. I still love the place even with it’s faults. If you want a burger and a beer this is a great place and you get entertainment to boot!
