It’s been 2 – 3 months since we first called, and 4 visits, and my dryer has only just been repaired (it’s new and under warrantee, so perhaps not a priority). The first time they lost my order and blamed it on their computer system, taking no responsibility. Since then it’s been poor customer service– they give a 3 hour window for each visit, do not call to say they’re coming, and do not necessarily come within their window. I have now put 12+ hours into this repair.

We purchased a suite of GE Slate Appliances through the Bellevue location. This location is now closed. The sales team was great to work with during the sales process, but once the sale was over — the problems began and there did not seem to be anyone interested or available to help. During the install of our dishwasher the installer did not tighten the valve correctly so we had a leak at the valve in the under sink cabinet. After several requests, Seattle Appliance finally sent someone out to look at it, even though we tried to keep the area dry, once they came there was water damage to our cabinet and wood floor. The installation manager, Josh, came out to look and admitted that the installers had not done a good job and actually complained about the work the installers do. He told me what he would have done differently, unfortunately, he didn’t do the install. He admitted it was their fault and acknowledged the damage. It took months and multiple emails to finally reach a manager who claimed he would help me. They did not take responsibility for the damage and actually lied on an affidavit to our insurance company. We have a beautiful set of appliances and are often asked about them and where we got them — we tell we love the appliances and tell them the story of where we bought them but strongly advise that if they’d like to buy these appliances or any others, they find them somewhere else. Run, don’t walk from Seattle Appliance! They’ll happily take your money, but they do not stand behind their service once they have your money! Our neighbor had a water issue with Albert Lee appliance, they were very responsive and have handled the situation professionally and with the highest level of customer service, I suggest you go there or any of the many other stores where appliances are sold.

We had tried troubleshooting our warm refrigerator but frosty freezer via the Internet for 2 days but still felt like something was wrong (the fridge wasn’t the right temperature still) so we figured it was time to call in the professionals. Reading all the Bothell/​Kirkland/​Woodinville appliance repair reviews on Unilocal left me confused. And most of the top-​rated folks we called couldn’t come until Monday. It was Wednesday and we didn’t want to wait too many days with perishables in the fridge.
My husband saw an Appliance ASAP van in our neighborhood so called them and they were able to come Thursday. Then another neighbor recommended I call Seattle Home Appliance (Bothell store). So I booked a Friday appt. with them and had my husband cancel the Thursday appt. with ASAP. After some confusion on our end, we realized that ASAP was previously Seattle Home Appliance Service and was now contracted to handle Seattle Home Appliance’s service calls. After a few laughs over the phone, we got our Thursday appt. rebooked since it was the same folks after all.
I was rather apprehensive about the service. We had not had good service call experiences in the past (avoid Sears!). I worried we might get shoddy service again or have to pay gobs of money for a fix…
I got a call from Matty saying he was 10 minutes away from coming and then he showed up on time between the window I was quoted. He was super knowledgeable about our refrigerator, listened to our explanations/​attempts to repair it ourselves, figured out what had happened (our freezer door had been left open for an extended time and trying to keep the refrigerator cool had overwhelmed the fridge), and then showed me the clues/​evidence he saw of what was going on and assured me that we had actually done the fix ourselves. We just hadn’t given the fridge enough time to cool back down.
As a bonus, Matty wrote notes down back to my engineer-​type husband (who had written down his own notes for the service guy to read/​review) who was at work so he could know what happened.
I am a little bummed to be out $ 85 for the service call but at the same time grateful for the peace of mind it bought. Matty also assured me that we’d get 30 days warranty on this particular service issue should it not be resolved. But 2 days later, our fridge is completely back to normal AND I feel empowered to look for the same clues and problem solve the next time.
Surprisingly, the skeptic in me also feels much better about service calls going forward. The next time one of our appliances breaks down (hopefully never), at least, we’ll know who to call. Thanks Seattle Home Appliance and ASAP!

I must say, I was blown away with their exceptional customer service! Cyndi was extremely helpful and went out of her way to get us a fridge delivered fast, even though they were completely booked for 2 days. That is the type of service that creates long time customers. My wife was home when this was delivered and told me the delivery guy was very courteous and helpful. The price of the unit was fair as well. They removed my broken fridge.
Thanks again for helping in such a timely fasion and I hope you enjoy your Seahawks gear!

Expensive! We bought an oven/​stove and paid top dollar for sure. No deals, no specials, no sales — and full deliver charge for a six week delivery.
Kind of a weird place. Maybe it’s high end, and because I wasn’t getting the latest stainless, they didn’t care. Everyone seems to be hunched over their computers and barely acknowledge you when you walk in.
Delivery took forever and I was told «it might come in sooner» but when I called a week prior to the delivery date to ask, it was as if I was stupid for asking.
Awkward delivery too … «between 1 and 5» and, of course, they came at 6:00PM with no explanation or apology.
Super unfriendly all around.
Whatever, so much for local. Sears next time.

I like to repair my own stuff and I keep trying to support this local company. Each time I need a part I call them with the part number to request cost and if it’s in stock. Each time, 3 times now in past 2 years, I am treated rudely by the parts department. Last time they gave me the wrong part (at the store) and when I pointed it out, I was asked if I was sure I could «handle the repair myself».
The parts department was rude again today over the phone — telling me the part is «about $ 100» but also that I have to pay for it in advance of picking it up by giving my cc number over the phone. When I asked for a specific dollar amount he responded, «Do you want the part or not?» I said, «Can you please give me the price I am going to be charged.» And he responded, «I said about $ 100!»
No thanks.
Sears was very friendly and offered the same part for less money, including 1 year warranty and overnight shipping. I received an order confirmation, confirmation email, UPS confirmation and return follow up phone call from customer service all within 20 minutes.
Seattle Home may have the parts in stock– but they need to improve their customer service attitude; such a bummer.

Have bought multiple appliances from these guys over the years and had one good experience when I brought a microwave into them for a service. Recently they have gone downhill. They came out to fix our washing machine that we bought new from them less than two years earlier. The tech spent (literally) 15 mins troubleshooting (i.e., board swapping style) and less than 15 mins installing a control board a week later and charged my wife $ 193. The part was under warranty and on their shelf. Anyways, the part that really got to us was the attitude when i called to talk about the bill. I was told that this was the «book» charge and (I quote) «try to find somebody else to fix it, they are all out of business.» Nice way of saying we can charge anything we want. Ended up e-​mailing somebody at the store and I was advised that even though the receipt has the «Seattle Home Appliance Company» logo identical to the store’s, the «service» department was a separate company and anything that happened there was separate from SHA and there was nothing that could be done.
Sad part is I thought of myself as a loyal customer, support the hometown business, etc. Never going back…

I am not sure what shop the negative reviewers visited, an alternate universe maybe? In my multiple dealings with Seattle Home Appliance they have been pleasant, professional, and customer-​focused.
Our first time in we were looking for a new range to replace the super cheap one our seller had in the house when we bought it (it wasn’t even brand name, half the elements didn’t work, none of them were level). Bought the one we liked, it was delivered on time and installed quickly, the old crappy unit went away with no extra charge.
Second time in we were looking for service on our GE Arctica fridge. We didn’t buy that from SHA, but no problem, they talked through the issue, said they knew almost certainly what was wrong and warned us that if they were right the part would take 3 – 5 days to come in. They said if we wanted to shorten the wait they’d order the part, but we’d pay a small restocking fee if it turned out to be something else. Plenty of info up front and the decision left up to us.
Third time was a different repair on the fridge. The repairman again knew exactly what was needed. Though I feel grumpy about the price of the parts, that’s GE’s fault, not the shop.
Fourth time in we were looking for a microwave. Found the one we wanted and bought it.
Fifth through ninth times we had multiple repair calls on our 1980s era Kenmore dryer. Heat kept going out. They charged us for the first and second repairs and didn’t for the last two, because the repairman said they’d take responsibility for not fixing it right. Mind you, the dryer is thirty years old. When the heat stopped working yet another time, we shopped for and bought a new HE set from them. Got a great price and they delivered and set up just the way we wanted. They reversed the door on the washer for us. Old stuff went away, no hauling charge.
I don’t think we’d shop anywhere else for appliances assuming this place stocks what you’re looking for. We had a painfully horrible experience at Frederick’s when we originally bought the fridge! These guys are awesome.

Have lived in Shoreline area for 25 years and first went into SHA about 5 years ago while shopping for a new stove. We had one picked out at Hodepot down the street but couldn’t find anyone to help us. SO glad! Got some great information and better attention. Ending up paying about $ 100 more but well worth it for the superior Frigidare appliance and supporting a local merchant. Since then I have recommended them numerous times to the owners of the condo I manage in Ballard. They are always helpful and will give you excellent advice on whether a repair is the best option. I am a customer for life!

We had used the service side of this company before and had a good experience. Sadly, things fell apart when I referred them o a friend. The problem was a broken washing machine. We had two visits from the tech (both three hour windows). The first visit he felt the motherboard was at fault and the part had to be ordered. Second visit a week later he determined the board wasn’t the problem and we needed another part. Another week went by and we didn’t receive a call so I called them.
The service department said they would research it and call me back. No call. My friend called after work and learned the tech had a family crisis. Why couldn’t they tell us that and schedule a different tech. She never received a call back.
All in all-​epic fail guys. Won’t be calling you again and will look for a way to advise other folks of our terrible experience.

We have done business with Seattle Home Appliance for over 20 years. All of our appliance servicing has been excellent and the sales staff is very knowledgeable about appliances. We have trusted them all these years and have referred them to friends and family. Most recently we referred our daughter to SHA for a washing machine repair. All went well, then a week later it made a horrible clunking sound and stopped working!
One call to SHA and they sent someone out right away and fixed it, for no fee!
This is outstanding customer service and we want to mention here how grateful we are to SHA for stepping up to the plate and hitting it out of the park!!!

One of our employees spilled hot sauce all over our refrigerator yesterday. The hot sauce got into one of the fuses and started a small fire. We called all around to find a technician to come out but no one could come for at least 3 days, including the company we have used in the past. When we called Seattle Home Appliance the dispatcher worked hard to find a technician for us and he was here within 3 hours. He fixed all our problems in a timely fashion and was very friendly and understanding. The price was very reasonable as well. We will definitely be using Seattle Home Appliance again.

Right before the 4^th of July our fancy, expensive front loading washing machine broke. Again. My husband had already replaced just about everything on the dang thing but this time it was the digital control panel. The part alone was going to cost $ 150 (cheapest price found, online) so I threw my hands up, pitched a good wifely hissy fit and insisted on a new washing machine.
We decided to go with an old school, all mechanical machine this time around. I did a BUNCH of research online and Speed Queen kept coming up. They are the company that supply the laundromat machines so you know they are tough. There are essentially three different models, with all of them at the same capacity. The middle model has an extra rinse cycle (good for folks with allergies and such) and the top model has fabric selection and a ‘hush pac’. They also make a front loader but for obvious reasons I don’t recommend it.
I called before hours and left a message with Seattle Home Appliance and Cindy called me back right when the shop opened. She let me know what model they had in stock, the base model. I couldn’t decide if I wanted the basic one or the next step up as I do like to do an extra rinse at times. Since it’s what they had in stock, the base model it was! We have a van so we drove right down to the store, paid and then went over to the warehouse and picked it up. We had it back home and washing clothes within two hours. Honestly, it’s been running for about six days straight as once I saw how clean the clothes were we decided to just rewash everything. I honestly hadn’t noticed how NOT clean and dingy our clothes had gotten with the damn front loader.
This machine has a stainless steel drum, no fancy bells and whistles (it doesn’t even have an end of cycle buzzer), it’s got three temp settings (no warm rinse if that’s an issue for you), and manual choice fill levels. If you’re somewhat handy there’s a hack available on YouTube that shows you how to adjust a nut that allows the machine to fill all the way up with water for bigger loads and better cleaning. The government is mandating that all machines be HE by 2017 so if you want a workhorse of a washing machine that will run for 20 years or so then I recommend you purchase a Speed Queen tout suite!
Cindy and the gentlemen at the warehouse were all super helpful and I would readily purchase from them again.

Bought a portable A/​C from here out of desperation in this recent heat wave, since all the other stores were sold out and I couldn’t wait for shipping from online vendors. I had to call and pay for it by phone. I knew the saleswoman was lying to me when she claimed they only had two left so hurry and act now. But I needed one badly so whatever. She also said it would weigh less than 50 lbs, which is definitely not true. I got a little nervous about their sketchy sales techniques as she didn’t tell me how much it would be after taxes until after she processed my credit card number.
I got there, and the woman at the front desk was kinda rude and snippy with me. There was a long line of people who had already paid theirs. They didn’t even have my order in and I had to wait for them to create the document. Apparently the woman on the phone was supposed to give an order confirmation number but didn’t. After they processed it, I asked for a receipt. The woman scoffed and said, «she didn’t give you one?!» Well no dummy, she didn’t give me a receipt over the phone.
They don’t allow returns on the A/​C, which made me nervous as well. But like I said, I was desperate for one so I was willing to risk all this. But in the future, I will never buy anything from this store again.

They were supposed to be here between 9am to 12noon. Never showed up. I called Brett and he said they couldn’t find my house on googlemaps. I’ve lived here 8 years. He told me if I wanted to wait the rest of the day they would try and squeeze me in at the end of the day. And I still would have to pay $ 95 just for the honor of having them show up. Don’t bother with this business. EDIT: After I posted this review I received 2 phone calls from Sid cussing me out for leaving this review. This is my first ever Unilocal review, and the first time someone associated with a business has verbally attacked me over the phone. I wish I never contacted this company, and it concerns me that they have my contact information.

Just received my new fridge, dishwasher and microwave/​hood!
I was looking for appliances and a coworker recommended I check them out. The sales experience was great, they don’t do pressure sales and their quoted prices are very reasonable, better than big box stores. The only caveat is that their showroom is small and they don’t have everything as a demonstrator, but they really didn’t mind me leaving with the quote and shopping around before coming back.
Installation went smoothly. They were super careful and did NOT damage anything either in my unit or the condo hallways. The techs were friendly and knew what they were doing very well.

Terrible, just terrible. Where do I even begin? Do I begin with the fact that I asked for my washer to be fixed, under warranty mind you, and they rejected my ticket? How about when I was able to get them to accept my repair took the time off work and then had them cancel on me an hour and a half after the tech should have been at my house?
After 2 weeks they finally managed to get someone to come out, spend 20 minutes and tell me «Yes, it’s broken» and then repeat to me what I had already told to them on the phone?
Luckily I was able to escalate the issue through the manufacturer and get a brand new washer delivered because it took 5 weeks (five weeks!) for them to call me again to schedule the parts.
Completely ridiculous.

The good. They had the part we needed in stock. $ 30 and our washing machine is back at work.
The bad. Went to the website and checked the hours. Went in to get the part and was told «Parts dept. isnt open on Sundays»
1) I can understand that parts isnt open on Sundays so maybe put a note on your website that says that.
2) The lady seemed really put out that she had to stand up, walk ten feet and tell us to come back later. I could due without the attitude, if she were a little nicer I would have stayed and looked for a new stove.

Lose Lowe’s, ditch the ‘Depot, and come to Seattle Home Appliance for your next dishwasher, microwave, range, or laundry appliances!
My husband, dad, and I spent a Sunday in early December going from Home Depot to Sears to Best Buy to Lowe’s to Home Depot again in search of a washer and dryer pair that would fit into our «laundry closet» and vent from the bottom of the dryer unit. All I got from the salespeople at any of the big box stores we went to was «uhhh, I don’t know…» in response to questions and the nearest delivery dates were 3+ weeks out. My laundry needs couldn’t wait until January!
Our search for a washer & dryer was looking bleak until we discovered Seattle Home Appliance in Bothell.
The salesguys here were not only knowledgeable, they were enthusiastic! They whipped out product-​specific spec sheets the likes of which I doubt Sears has ever seen and found us the biggest, bestest washer & dryer that we could stuff into our closet. They fully understood our needs and even kept us merrily entertained as we compared the minutia of various models (after 6 hours of misery in appliance departments, we sure needed it!).
Best of all, they were able to deliver THREE DAYS LATER! WOW! Home Depot and Sears couldn’t even promise delivery within three weeks. The price we paid for our set was better than what we would have paid elsewhere, too, so we left VERY, VERY happy!
In short: if you need knowledgeable salespeople, have particular needs, or need your appliance in days (not weeks), you owe it to yourself to come here first.

I can’t specifically address the issues raised by Scissor as to their sales showroom, but their service guys are absolutely amazing (so I’d trust their sales guys to actually know their stuff). Have used them twice and saved over $ 1,000 already having our appliances repaired rather than going to get new ones.
First off, we had a Bosch dishwasher that got «repaired» twice by another place. The machine wouldn’t drain and the other place just came in and replaced the pump (several hundred dollars part) and then moved around the drain hose when they came back for the warranty work the second time. Third time it broke we gave up on the old place and called Seattle Home Appliance. Turns out that the guy came out and showed us that there were two buttons on the control panel you could push to force it to the drain cycle. Doing this he was able to tell in about 30 seconds hat the pump and hose were both working fine, something the other place didn’t do. Turns out the real issues was in the computer circuit not triggering the drain cycle and the machine has worked great since they replaced that part.
Second time around our Kenmore washing machine started making horrible noises during the spin cycle. I read some posts on-​line and got worried we’d have hundreds of dollars of issues with bad bearings, but turns out the Seattle Home Appliance guy was able to go in, suck a quarter out of our water pump and have it working great again. $ 123 out of pocket rather than $ 600+ for a new washer plus the cost of a totally unnecessary dryer since it’s a stacker and they’d have to fit together.
If we have something break to the point it doesn’t make sense fixing it we’ll definitely at least give their stores a look.
