The Home Depot

Went this weekend to have a key made. It took 20 minutes to find someone to make the key for me. When we did find a women who could help me she did not say a word to us — made the key without asking me if I would like a different style. She handed it to us and then turned around and left my husband and I standing there looking at each other wondering if we had two heads or something. Worst service ever! I use Home Depot all the time for the items that we need. We usually go to the one by our house but thought to go to this one because it was close to my work. I will not be going to this one any time soon! Really not one word?

Come on peeps? It’s Home Depot. Get in, get out, get what you need, no one gets hurt, it’s a done deal.

My husband and I went into Home Depot this week to buy a patio set. It «only» took 1.5 hours to (almost) buy one. We kept looking for help, but everyone kept saying, «That’s not my department.» Really? Isn’t customer service «your department?» After 25 minutes and walking all over the store, a kind cashier took pity on us and finally got someone to help. We told this person that we’d purchase the patio set if we could get a matching umbrella — and only if we could. (Why buy a brand new set if it’s mismatched?) The person helping us told us that the matching umbrella was out of stock, but that we could buy the floor model.
So we purchased the patio set and umbrella. Or at least we thought we did — I mean, Home Depot was happy to take my money and told me that I could come pick up my items «at will call» a few evenings later, as I couldn’t fit them in my vehicle at the time and they were «getting another shipment of umbrellas to replenish their stock.»
When I returned to the store a few days later, as directed by their staff, I was informed that someone else had purchased the umbrella that I’d already purchased (um, what? Pretty sure they’re not supposed to do that), and that the umbrella was now back ordered until June 1. That «Friday shipment?» apparently it didn’t happen. So what am I supposed to do with half a set? Hope it doesn’t rain for the next four weeks?
I was impressed that they called me back tonight right before closing (at 9:57pm), but it was to inform me that I could have a tan umbrella for $ 75 off… Which would be a screamin’ deal if the rest of my set was anywhere close to tan (it’s not) or if I was in the market for a ghetto looking mismatched set. If I wanted that, I’d be trolling Craigslist, not paying full retail minus $ 75 to make me be quiet about them selling my purchase to another customer. We’ve spent about $ 15,000 at Home Depot in the last 13 months. After their apathy and incompetence, that’s the last penny they’ll ever see from us.

If you go here don’t expect to be helped without some disdain from the staff.
I went here to get some plywood cut, and when I asked the gentleman to cut it, he gave me a look as if I presented a tremendous weight of inconvenience. He complied but not without being passive — being short with me, and not making eye contact. I wasn’t being difficult. I walked in knowing what I needed and the exact dimensions I needed it in, and no questions asked — although I’m not condoning poor customer treatment if I wasn’t an easy customer.
My next experience is what compelled me to write this review. I called a day in advance to inquire about a truck rental. Once again, the staff answered the phone as if I was be disruptive to whatever it was he was doing before the phone rang. After asking if I could reserve a truck he explained they can only hold a truck for thirty minutes before pickup (really dumb by the way), and when I tried to confirm when I should call back he said «yes» and hung up on me.
The next day I called in vain twice, as nobody at the tool rental department answered and I was routed to customer service — who quickly pointed out they couldn’t help me, and offered to transfer me back to the rental department, and «hopefully they’ll pickup this time.»
I opted to go in store and hope they still had a truck available. They had two trucks parked, but the line to the tool rentals was so long it stretched outside. After standing in the baking sun for 20 minutes and advancing only one spot in line, I called Uhaul, got a reservation, and picked it up in 30 minutes. In the end, I paid less for Uhaul.
I won’t be going back to this Hone Depot any time soon. I gave an extra star because the door greeter was at least respectful and courteous.

We bought a riding lawn mower there for 1500 dollars .and when it came to help load it .my 63 year old husband and i 58 to load it in our pickup they all scattered like roaches. and ones we did find said they could not help cause they had a bad back. Sat outside 20 min waiting for someone to help load. Then two guys came out to load a few bags of concrete on someone else’s truck. And looked over at us and laughing trying to figure out which one was going to help. I hit the ceiling and started yelling at them to get over and help us if we get hurt they would be liable for it. the came over. And reluctantly helped. Will go to lowes next time you get better service.

Not surprised when I saw the 2−½ star average rating. Places like Home Depot don’t equip their employees well enough to provide great customer service. Look on Amazon first if you need small hardware items or things they can be shipped.
If your looking for lumber go to Dunn Lumber, they are sooooo much more helpful and their quality is by far some of the best.
Today I went to their store in Bothell to find a plumbing part that their website said they had 5. With none on the shelf I found an employee to help me look. We searched the tags on the back stock above but couldn’t see anything. That was the extent of the customer service, no offers to actually look for the product by getting a ladder.
Instead he told me they had 9 at the next closest stores to which I replied, «but you have 5.»
Amazon had the item for less. Waste of my time, lesson learned!

I have spent 6 months and many hours on the phone and in store with the Bothell Home Depot in my efforts to have a door installed. Since my initial attempts in October, they always had an excuse, either they lost or misplaced my order, someone quit, or was fired. Then their installer quit. they had two different people come out to our house and measure twice. when they finally ordered the door, they did not have any installers available and said it could be weeks. This customer service and overall organization is the worst I have ever seen — I will never return to a Hope Depot store for any reason based on this experience. Oh and another thing: their workers are sexist. I went in to get a hedge trimmer, the guy was like, oh yea, and you can sit back and have a glass of wine while the trimmer is charging… what?!

A good place to get what you want. Generally service is good but sometimes you cannot find help. Generally, HD is a step below Lowes in product ‘quality’ selection but good for most everyday needs. I go there at least once a week. Location is key reason.
This is a large store and generally parking is lousy. Their parking slot width is WAY too small for the customer needs to fight to fit stuff in a car. Expect a parking struggle every time.

Well the corporate team came through for me — and I appreciate that so thought I’d write an update. Romanoff Renovations suddenly became a little more interested in helping us out and sent one of their team members to repair the damage.

I like this Home Depot because they have everything you need for home improvement projects and general use in the home or garden. Prices are reasonable and customer service is pretty good. Most of the time if I need help finding an item, a HD employee will take me right to its location. However, some employees aren’t as helpful and prefer to tell you where it is without offering to show you. A sign of true customer service is making sure your customer finds what they need as easily and quickly as possible. Another plus about this HD is that I can usually find someone in each department who has enough knowledge of the products or skills in something to explain how to do my project and help figure out what I need for the job. The downside is, this is a chain, so they have a lot of employees and some are not as good as others. At the self-​checkout they always have someone to help speed up the process. It’s a big enough store to find a place to park and I like that they have parking spots reserved for Veterans, too.

The store is fine, but to get anyone to help you or even answer the phone is pretty rare. I don’t blame the employees so much as they are probably understaffed. Lot of wasted time though… Then I bought a washer and dryer with the install. They make you buy a bunch of overpriced accessories you don’t need to do the install and you can’t return those accessories. Best Buy or Lowe’s don’t have this scammy practice. If you just need something quick and easy this place is fine but other than that go elsewhere.

Nice wide aisles and ample parking. Found Ade to be extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Loved the self check out plus snacks and drinks right there.

They have what I need for home projects, whether it’s fencing, gardening, plumbing or painting. I can usually get pretty good advice here and it’s reasonably quick to get in and out. They have a convenient location not far from work so I can stop in and get what I need before starting on the next project.

Best Home Depot in WA so far in my opinion. They have a good amount of inventories, customer service is great, and their employees are very helpful and knowledgable about their job. For eg, we went to the Home Depot in Everett to look for flooring and the lady over there didn’t even want to get out of her chair to help, and she doesn’t know anything at all! so we thought oh man, Home Depot employees don’t know nothing, we should go to a small store to get educated more on the subject. Then, we came across this Home Depot, Jeremy in the flooring dept was so knowledgable and gave us all the options and help us find what work the best for us! so we ditched the small store and went with this home depot. Came in today to find some paint, and Jeremy is there again to cover for his co-​worker! I was like… he is really multi-​task! Again, super helpful in helping us finding what we need.
Definitely will be coming back here for everything for our new home!

Not impressed with the customer service here. We went to this location specifically because it’s by the home we just purchased to BUY a washer and dryer. We had some old dinosaur of a sales rep named Carl H. who didn’t know how to use the store/​company website/​computer and was completely disinterested in trying to make a sale. The model we wanted was not present on the floor and Carl was unable to figure out if the store had the item. After waiting 15 mins for a sales rep to even come our way and after waiting to Carl to figure his job out, we left to go to Best Buy to make the $ 1400 purchase. Way to go Carl, you just bombed a potential $ 1400 purchase.
As someone who works in sales, I am surprised an employee like this is still a part of the team. Employees should be engaged and KNOWLEDGEABLE about the product they are selling. I’d let this one go Home Depot.

Zero customer service. I called to speak to someone regarding LED bulbs after a few minutes of waiting I got the paint dept. a transfer to the electrical department wasn’t any better. I waited over 10 minutes then gave up on waiting.
Lowe’s isn’t any better but it’s closer to my home. the lesser of 2 evils.

Clean store. Friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive staff. Well stocked and maintained.
My only complaint is it can be tricky to find help sometimes but generally there’s someone around the corner ready to help.

My shopping experience here is like any other big box store — prices are decent, they have a great inventory for one-​stop home project shopping, and the employees are basically useless.
My wife and I made the huge mistake of buying laminate flooring and having HD install it. The planning, scheduling and actual installation went OK, until 1 month later the floorboards started separating.
We filed a claim, HD had the installer come inspect it, called it a product defect, HD filed a claim with manufacturer (Pergo), Pergo had an independent adjuster come inspect it, they ended up denying the claim, HD ended up blaming the problem on the installer (3^rd party company — Romanoff Renovations, which was actually great to work with — I will be giving them a glowing review), installer denied the claim so in the end HD had to eat the cost of a complete floor replacement.
In the end, yes, we did get replacement floors installed. BUT, this process took 5 MONTHS and over 100 phone calls to HD (no exaggeration — I have the phone logs) and the so-​called local service department, which is impossible to reach and never returns calls. During the entire process we were completely in the dark about what was going on or the timeline or anything.
Long story short — THINK TWICE about hiring HD for any kind of home project. Go with local companies with actual professionals who care about their customers.

This is not a review of Home Depot but of their idiot (sub contracted) carpet installers. We were in a bind and needed to get our parents house carpeted and new vinyl installed immediately. Our dad had moved to an Assisted Living Facility and our mom was dying of cancer so their house was being put on the market ASAP.
We explained that need for speed and selected the IN STOCK carpet and vinyl. We were then told that the carpet «should really be ordered together for the color lot to match and that would take 2 weeks». We were hesitant but then agreed. 2 weeks came and went so we called them only to be told that NOTHING HAD BEEN ORDERED YET.
These dumbasses then said, «Oh, we needed a credit card to order it.» NO ONE ever asked for one, the first we heard of it was 2 weeks later after NOTHING was ordered. This was after we paid $ 55 for them to come and measure the rooms, so they had our credit card on file anyway.
After being effed over by the stupid Home Depot’s carpet «installers», I canceled the order and called Flynn’s Carpet Cents.
Their employee said he could come over and (re) measure the rooms in 15 minutes FOR FREE. 15 minutes. I couldn’t believe my luck. Sure enough, I met him at the house and the entire job was completed in a few days. It was perfect and the whole house looks brand new…
**It should be noted that the actual Home Depot in Bothell DID refund my $ 55 after I explained to them my experience with the shit sandwiches they call installers.**

This store frustrates the hell out of me… I only use Home Depot occasionally and if I do, I travel to Aurora or Bellevue because the clowns at Bothell store have NO clue… I Defiantly use McLeandon’s for 95% of all my hardware purchases…
1. I would say about 70% of the store clerks are worthless… Just doing a job and getting through the day making a paycheck…
2. NEVER EVER USE ONLINE purchase and use IN store pick up and use Bothell store — Use Aurora or Bellevue NEVER USE THIS STORE!!!
Over the course of the last year I have purchased several things online from The Home Depot, some shipped directly to the house. On occasion I buy something I need and go down and pick it up to save time and not have to wonder around looking for it or waste time in a checkout line.
Today the kitchen light went out and I figured I would change over to LED (Not a good selection at McLeandon’s) Amazon and Home depot had the same fixture for the same price and Home Depot said it was in stock… bought it and waited for the the published time (Most orders filled within 2 hours). I actually waited 5 hours and heard nothing… With New years eve approaching and wanting my light I headed down to the store…
THE ONLINE ORDER SAID THEY HAD IT IN STOCK — I get to the store and they have it… but it is in a container on the property and they can’t get to it for 5 days… ??? What the hell??? — Then don’t put it in your inventory and say you have it if you can’t sell it!!! Idiots…
Last time I ordered online and used store pick up at this store — I went to customer service and they sent me to the contractors desk… The contractors desk sent me back to customer service — I actually went back and forth 5 times until I asked for a manager and made a scene for them to figure out their own store procedure for picking up online orders… I was there for 45 minutes trying to pick up my online order — Holy crap I could have gotten it off the shelf and went through the checkout line several times…
CLUELESS INEFFICIENT AND MANY HAVE BAD ATTITUDES…
