Rob has the eye of an artist and the attention to detail that is the difference between great work and beautiful work. After seeing his work at a friend’s house we were very impressed and our friends highly recommended him. We recently had him redo a number of trim projects in our family room. We had two beams across the ceiling and Rob added additional beams and crown molding to create a coffered ceiling that simply looks amazing. The room had a step down with handrails and spindles common in 1990s homes. Rob replaced all those spindles and handrails with small bookcases. We also had a fireplace that was all brick and Rob covered a portion of that fireplace with wood trim and added a mount for a TV. He did a really nice job hiding the wires. A couple of things were particularly impressive about Rob’s work. First, he immediately understood exactly what we hoped to do with the room. He was great at envisioning what the space could be and helped us think through a great design. Some contractors can build what you describe but Rob can help you think it through and make it better than you imagined. Second, he came in exactly on budget. Lots of times we have been surprised with bills and Rob had no surprises along the way. One more thing — his work is beautiful. Everything is straight, the edges are beautiful, the lines are clean, it’s outstanding work. We can’t wait to have him back to do more.

My beautiful cherry and ebony wood china cabinet has a wide decorative«crown» that kept it from fitting up the staircase in my new home in Seattle. I found Rob and Maritime Woodwork through an Angie’s List search for carpentry. Rob was fabulous! He was responsive(on a weekend!) and had me send him several pictures from several angles of the piece, so he would know what he was dealing with. He went out of his way to change his schedule to come to the house at the same time as the movers. After carefully studying the furniture piece for a half-hour our so, he brought out his chisel, found the«sweet spot» to break the glue seal and removed the crown intact, without a scratch! The movers muscled the piece up the staircase, Rob reattached the crown with screws and voila! My favorite piece of furniture was home at last. And his price for this feat of master carpentry and knowledge was amazingly reasonable. Super nice guy, too!
