Cassey is amazing! She completely transformed my hair after I had a terrible hair scare and another salon ruined my hair. I had orange streaks and my hair was damaged. She made my hair super healthy and full of life again.
Literally have not been happier with the health and color of my hair. It’s so hard to find a great hair salon and hair dresser you love in Boston.

Bobby is amazing! He’s been doing my hair (cut/​highlights) for two years. I found bobby through a recommendation from a client who’s been coming for 20 years. I always leave feeling like a million bucks (and ready to keep shopping down Newbury). Really great at translating my vague wishes into a beautiful haircut.
I no longer live in Boston, but I still make an appointment with bobby twice a year when I’m in town. The other stylists seem great as well and they all seem to have many long term clients!

Terry Briggs at Starr hair is an amazing colorist and stylist. I am a loyal customer and I always feel great and receive compliments on my cut and color after an appointment. My whole family became clients and the hair makeovers were incredible. (He has also been very skilled at miraculously fixing impulsive hair mishaps and challenges presented by my teenagers over the years.) Most importantly Terry asks questions about what exactly a person is looking for and really listens. He takes great pride in his work and still enjoys it after many years in the business— a great combination of extensive experience and enthusiasm! Plus he is a fun upbeat really nice person. I look forward to every visit.

Starr hair studio… It’s the salon to look for if you’re into getting the real keratin treatment in boston… They do such a great, great job, and i mean that i think there is no one as picky as me, I am telling u … They really put the keratin right on the growth of the scalp and work it down in a good neat, flat way. And when it gets time to use the flat iron OMG… They style flat iron ur hair. U can even go out that day nothing but beautiful looking shiny keratin hair. Call and book ur keratin today – ask for diane or lily. The best keratin ever!

Terry is the only stylist I’ve let cut my hair for years now. He does an amazing job — a cut that looks great, grows out well, and doesn’t require a ton of maintenance. What more could you ask for?
It might not be the flashiest salon on Newbury Street, but I’ll take a great haircut in a comfortable setting over lots of white enamel paint and cucumber water any day of the week.

Diane is AMAZING. I have incredibly fine hair (and not much of it!) and she gave me a fantastic short cut. It’s a pixie do’ and she was so accommodating and made me feel very comfortable and asked my opinion before doing ANYTHING. I love that.
There’s nothing worse than a stylist who thinks they know everything about you and what’s best for you. Oh no, I’ve lived with this head of hair for 26 years and I know my routine. Thank you Diane! You rock!

I have been getting my hair cut at Starr for over two decades and Doug has been my stylist for my entire life. While I cannot comment on the other services at Starr, the hair cutting has been top notch.

oh i LOVE this place! I ca’n’t believe more people haven’t commented!
It was a sunny day and I was waiting for my appointment shopping at H&M…when all of a sudden, stupid weather man, it was POOUURRINN. and i mean POURIN.
since this hair salon is RIGHT next to H&M, which is great, I ran to Starr in my WHITE shirt. yes, white shirt. Luckily, it was a holiday weekend, and i was the only one in the salon so no one saw anything! haha. Diane, the most wonderful hair stylist, offered to throw my clothes in the dryer while i was getting my haircut. so i wore one of their smocks as i got one of the BEST haircuts ive ever gotten.
got off my high chair and left the salon in my dry clothes, a great haircut, and a confident bounce in my step.
Although I haven’t had a haircut from the other stylists, i reaallly suggest Diane. Awesome hair cuts, wonderful woman!
