It was my first time going to the King and I and I really enjoyed their beef basil fried rice. Not only did the dish taste delicious, but the portion was huge… can’t go wrong with that! I ended up eating the rest for lunch the next day. The staff are helpful and very accommodating. The menu is vast with a great variety for vegetarians, soups, appetizers, fried rice, noodles, seafood, and their house specials. Next time I think I’ll get the Pad See You because it’s an incredibly satisfying noodle dish. The location is accessible on the MGH stop on the redline, Bowdoin station on the blue line and Science Park station on the greenline. Talk about convenience!

Had a great meal here after an appointment at MGH. My daughter and I shared the crystal noodle salad which was delicious and very fresh. My daughter says the flavor profile was great. Appetizers were good as well. Reasonable prices.

Today my husband ordered the Drunken Chicken to go for lunch. When we got it home it was 2 cups of rice and all the«drunken«had been aborbed by the rice leaving the chicken dry and unfavorable. For a person who does not eat rice, it left the rest of the meal uneatable.

Still just ok. I order from them typically for lunches at first available moment when they open(11:30). Today I waited until 12:00 and was told the wait(for one single item order) was 45 minutes. I said to myself this wasn’t a problem because I could have a few crackers and hold myself over. But then I got there and the pick-up line was extremely long… and people told me and other new walk-ins that the wait for pick ups was way behind. They must be short in the kitchen today. Staff was not at all apologetic nor did they explain what the heck was going on here. A few times they rolled their eyes or laughed when some parties needed to split their checks between cards or cash. If they are annoyed by this, they need to tell their customers they won’t do this. And put it on the menu as a note for us sane people. Still 3 stars because my food tastes so good. Not worth the wait like that weekly, but perhaps once a month(also once a month because they’re so close to my work). If they were located further away, I’d never walk into this place again. P. S. They need to fix their ventilation system. I can only imagine pregnant women would walk into this place and instantly need to swallow their own puke. This place is getting hotter, with all their doors propped open.

This is my go-to place when I’m reallyyy craving Pad Thai! And just typing this review makes me want it now! But other than Pad Thai, I’ve gotten the Red and Green coconut chicken dishes(rice comes separate), crab rangoons and rainbow rice. The crab rangoons are really good so are both curry chickens but I think I prefer the red curry more. The rainbow rice however not my favourite. I got that one day just to try something new. Now i’m not a big a big tomato lover and i didn’t mind the tomatoes in the rice dish but I didn’t know the entire rice dish would taste like tomato so that’s my only bad rating of the 5 dishes I’ve ever tried from there. The wait time isn’t long at all approx no more than 15 mins for to-go. Or if your picking up chances are it’s ready before you get there. Also the portions are always enough for leftovers which is my 2nd favourite part. The authentic taste is my first.

My favorite thai place in Boston! I highly recommend the chef’s special: Chicken Krapow. It’s a spicy, basil ground chicken dish topped with a fried egg and served with jasmine rice. The pad thai($ 8.50) is another great dish that tends to be a little on the sweeter side compared to most pad thai. However, it includes a generous portion of chicken and shrimp. The service is always fast and friendly!

We thought the King & I was pretty solid!(and definitely closer to the North End than the other options in Back Bay and Fenway). The Pad Thai had a great balance, the chicken Pad See Ew was flavorful and just the perfect level of spicy. Also, the prices are really reasonable for the location — dumplings, pad thai, and the pads see ew all totaled $ 26. The portions were big enough to have leftovers, too. If the weather is nice, it’s a great place to order take out and then enjoy at a picnic table along the Esplanade.

I came here with a friend for dinner and we both got the Pad See Ew, it was pretty standard, nothing too special and just about average of what I have had in the past. We are given complimentary fish chips with some sweet dipping sauce, it’s a nice touch. The interior is very plain, but too interesting and not much decoration, not the kind of place you would take a date to. All in all a very average Thai restaurant

This place is a well known establishment in Boston. If your looking for quick, friendly, not too pricey food then this is the place to come. Do not set your expectations too high because this place is not a five star dining experience. It is a little piece of Chinatown in Beacon Hill. That said, the menu is full of various curries, the traditional pad thai and vegetarian options. The staff are super friendly, accommodating and generally just really nice! The price you can not complain about along with the serving sizes. I ordered the spicy basil beef with wide rice noodles. They added broccoli for me, an additional $ 2.00 which is fine. Just give me my greens. My friend go their traditional cashew chicken. The orders were large enough to take home. Close to MGH, Beacon Hill and the Red Line all make this a very convenient place to go for a casual dinner with a friend on a weeknight. Check it out if your in the area.

When I found out that I was going to be living in Boston for a few weeks for work, I was ecstatic because I’m a big foodie and I’ve heard nothing but great things about Boston’s restaurants. I was craving Thai and happened to find King and I through a co-worker. I am not very impressed. Thai food is known for it’s rich flavor so I’m not sure where this restaurant went wrong. I ordered the pad thai and it was the most bland and unappealing pad thai I have ever had. If you’ve ever eaten«real», authentic Thai food you would know what a big difference in the taste there is. This place is too Americanized for me, I like Thai food to be bursting with flavor, not mellowed for the masses. This just didn’t cut it. I’m giving this place 3 stars for the price and convenient location.

Hooray for great pad thai at a great price! For quite some time now, I have been on an(ever-important) quest to find a new favorite pad thai closer to home, and I have finally found it. I’m surprised it took me so long to try the King & I because I’ve definitely heard good things about it in the past. I finally got the chance to fall in love with their pad thai when I had it for lunch this week. For $ 8.50, their pad thai is sizable enough for two satisfying meals. The texture is delightful, the flavor is my ideal balance of sweet and sour, and it not only came with fresh tasting chicken and shrimp, there was even some delicious dried bean curd added to the mix of proteins. I enjoyed every bite and savored the feeling of finally resolving my ever-important-three-year-long-quest for fantastic pad thai. Needless to say, I am a very happy camper.

Ugh! Where do I even begin with this place?! I’m so utterly disgusted and disappointed by the food and service. We arrived after some reading that this was one of the best Thai places in Boston. Got waters immediately after being seated. So far so good. The waitress asked us if we wanted anything to drink and we said we were ok with water while we looks at the menu. She was upset we weren’t ordering any other drinks. A little later, the waitress came to get our orders and had absolutely no recommendations when we asked. So after spending some time reviewing the menu we were ready to order. I ordered the pad Thai with tofu and vegetables. Can’t go wrong with pad Thai, right? Wrong! It was all wrong. It came with tofu only. This was the most bland and colourless pad Thai one has ever laid eyes on! So I flagged down the waitress and asked about my lack of veggies and flavour. She said that I could only have one– veggies or tofu. So I explained that I wanted both and she became argumentative saying I would have to pay extra if I wanted both. So I said that was fine, I just wanted veggies also. Then she said I never told her that before… Ummm, yes I did. Anyway, she reluctantly took my food back to the kitchen and brought it back to me within two minutes. Now my plate had a distinct fishy smell. It was so horrible, it actually made me gag. So again I tell the waitress and she is visibly agitated. Another waiter that worked there, saw what was happening and stepped in, he offers to have the dish remade. I thanked him, but by then had lost my appetite so I just sent the plate back. He was nice enough to remove it from the bill. The others I was with also felt the food lacked flavour and didn’t really eat much. I just can’t believe this place is so popular. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Overall the service was not very good and neither was the food.

Inexpensive and super fast!!! It’s only 5 min walk from mgh — if you’re spending the day there and want to get a quick lunch this place is perfect. I came here twice for lunch and both times I left happy. There are a lot of little tables to accommodate lone diners. Everything is around $ 10. I tried two of their rice plates — one with pineapples and beef and another with duck(duck choo chee). Both were very delicious and came out of the kitchen within 10 minutes of ordering.

I thought it was decent Thai food. Close to MGH and therefore convenient for the busy MGH fellow!

Vast menu options for vegetarians. Service, although cold, was prompt and waters were refilled frequently. Went with the eastern noodles with tofu, reminded me of chow mein. Good lunch option, particularly for vegetarians and those wanting to spend less than $ 10 on lunch.

Inexpensive meals are a rarity in the beacon hill area. But if you like Thai food and want to dine in beacon hill, definitely check out king and I. It’s super convenient to the hospital, so we order from here often. The lunch prices are reasonable and the portions generous. Prices double for dinner but again they are generous with portions. The food tastes delicious. The menu has many options. It’s not a high class place but the ambience is warm. The staff is friendly and food comes out quickly. Pad Thai is my go to meal. But everything I’ve had here is great. Enjoy!

Nice little place, we ordered out and picked it up. The staff was friendly. My wife had the thai basil chicken which she liked. . I ordered the pad thai. When I first opened the pad thai container up, I thought oh no, this doesn’t look good. It was white looking and I am used to pad thai having an orangeish tinge to it. The flavor however was good.

This place is FAST. I am starting to think it’s like this because it’s so busy. The restaurant opened at 11:30, I walked in at 11:34, and by 11:50 people were waiting for tables. My server gave me almost no time before asking what I wanted, but she was nice about it. I was really craving Pad Thai(I know, so cliché) so I had it with vegetables. It came out about 5 minutes after I ordered it! I loved that there were vegetables in the dish that aren’t normally included — it had zucchini, squash, carrots, green beans, and broccoli. I wish they were cut a little smaller, but it wasn’t that serious. The sauce was unique — at first I thought it might be a little too sweet, but it was great and had some kind of cinnamon-esque flavor to it. Very different, but in a good way.

Really good Thai food! Love the pad Thai! The hot tea is perfect in the winter on a cold night. Mango curry chicken was great too! Not a fancy place at all. Good food. Good service.

Un resto thaï sans prétention, les plats sont corrects sans plus mais deux atouts: les portions généreuses, et l’emplacement dans le délicieux quartier de Beacon Hill !
