This company is an absolute disgrace. They bait you in using your, or your child’s hopes and aspirations of become a superstar by going as far as having a booklet with Disney stars they «helped» discovered. But when you research about these stars, one of the ones I remember and looked was Brenda Song, there’s absolutely ZERO evidence that they’re even connected to them.
They also have one of their staff members, who claimed to be an actor, come in and tells you all about her story. She tells you about how she moved to Los Angeles and took up 2 jobs to help her paid for acting classes. The one thing I regret is not recalling the TV Shows the faker claimed to appear in.
Think about it. 2 Jobs. To take acting classes. In Los Angeles. Where 2 jobs isn’t enough to help you pay the daily bills.
So you audition in front of a camera. I had to do the «Here’s to crazy ones» quote by Steve Job or something. And if you’re good enough, they’ll give you a call back. But only to find out that you have to shell out thousands of dollars in classes. I stopped it right there, because I couldn’t afford it.
After extensive research on this company, because I was naturally curious, I found out they’re a fraudulent franchise that scams you out of thousands by having you take fake classes. People on consumeraffairs have reported to pay up to 5 grand for classes that were knowingly cancelled.
Stay away from this company

I wasn’t the happiest with this agency. I am of a short stature so I have often been refused by some reputed agencies in Boston. I checked out this one and they seemed to be very «open-​minded» and reputed. wasn’t too happy with the experience.
I went to an audition and I was told to read out a sample commercial on camera. I was then called in saying I made it. we talked to the head (dont remember his name) but he explained things well. He said I had alot of potential for commercial print work, not too much runway, and I was ok with that. But then, he brought out these list of classes that we had to take in order to join the agency. The prices were UNBELIEVABLE.
he said I needed to represent myself well for these auditions and that can be done only with class expeirence-​it was like $ 1000 for a class! The basics were personal development and like acting 101. So i signed up for that-​a little like $ 2000!
He also said that if I wanted to build more credentials, I needed to add more classes later– I was a little weary hearing that. but I went along with it. i saw students that had taken almost 10 classes-​still not getting all the work they wanted.
I then went for my classes-​they are like 2 hours each and last over a course of 8 weeks. we got materials-​like a personal development book, acting book, and a beginners makeup kit.
I often found myself out of place in these classes: I knew much of the tricks we talked about and more ahead of the other girls-​it was a little «too» easy and to be honest: a little unnessary to my «supposed success in the industry»
I eventually stopped attending and didn’t continue with them– no oortfolio, comp cards, nothing-​they had taken enough of my money
As a whole, I would say this is more of a TALENT SCHOOL that teaches the BASICS of the industry more than an actual agency. I don’t feel they represent you enough and don’t give you great opportunities. They churn out graduates from these classes that are so damn expensive and don’t guarantee anything in the end. I may have learned how to put on lipstick but still don’t know where to go i the industry with this knowledge.
BEWARE AND BE CAUTIOUS! If you want to be more of a student and less of a talent, go here!

Brett, the owner, cares enough to have reached out to me to clarify their position and policies. It seems that there was a misunderstanding between Chuck, the sales person, and me, and it is not a requirement to take classes in order to be represented by JRP. Brett has offered us the opportunity to explore their representation without taking classes at this time. We are going to follow-​up and see what they have to offer and will update our review if necessary.
We do appreciate that Brett cares enough about his business and stands behind it to contact us and make things right.

Stay away from John Robert Powers New England. It’s very misleading. They hook you by making you think that they’re a talent agency (even they deny this) and that their proud graduates included Lucille Ball, Henry Fonda, Jane Fonda, Betty Ford, Heather Locklear, Barbara Walters and John Wayne, though none of these celebrities, their representatives or their immediate family members, claimed any involvement with JRP schools. Yes, they’re schools, not talent agencies, but they give you this Hollywood connection impression to hook you and get your money.
My audition for JRP New England included acting out a script for a commercial for «Campbell’s Hearty Beef Stew.» I checked the supermarket shelves, and there’s no such product. Thank heavens I came to my senses just as I was about to plunk a thousand bucks or so down.

I’ll be the first to write a review since it seems like everyone else is too pansy to be honest. And yes, I have done film and radio work so I know what I am talking about.
John Robert Powers talent agency is a scam. Like any other agency, they make a big hoopla about their connections and whore out the 1 out of 634 523 521 341 234 clients who became famous.
Sure, auditions seem exciting. Anticipation stirs as you sit in the waiting room thinking you will be the next hopeful. The newsletters they send about once every month boast «THE BIGGEST AGENT IN L.A. IS VISITING AND HOLDING AUDITIONS HERE.»
So you go, like the sucker you are, thinking you are gonna make it big!
Guess what, they give you a white piece of paper saying something along these lines:
«You did great! However, we cannot accept you at this time. But if you meet with our agent, we can get you on the path to success!»
Then you meet with this fat guy who tells you that if you don’t pay $ 1000 for a class you will never make it in the business.
REALITY CHECK: They give everyone that piece of paper because they want to steal your money. Real agencies don’t make you pay to exercise your own talent.
Skip the corny Talent Agency. Enough said.
