Visited this store on a trip to Boston in March. It started raining, I didn’t have a rain jacket, there was a cute trench in the window, went in, tried it on, loved it, bought it. The saleswomen were both very nice and helpful and it was a quick and painless interaction. But what really takes this to a five star rating is what happened after. About two months later, I lost that trench coat in Seattle. Super bummed, I couldn’t remember the brand name to replace it. I decided to email the store to see if they could remember what trench I was talking about. They responded within about 15 minutes, remembered the jacket, had some in back stock, found my original purchase in their system to get the correct size, gave me an awesome sale price and shipped it to me in Texas. All within about 1 hour. So pleased and will definitely come back next time I am in Boston!

Love this store, its darling colors, and its personable manager Diane! The dresses made of swimsuit material are fabulous – they come in fun patterns, last forever, you can throw them in the washer, and they are easy to dress up or down. I only wish some of the clothes were a bit more simple – I end up replacing the gold buttons on skirts and jackets with plain.

Very nice store selling good quality, preppy clothing on Charles St. My only beef is with the customer service. Rather unfriendly and snobby, I thought. And ringing me up took forever!

Pretty cool store with lots of interesting plays on the preppy look. Great stuff for both men and women. The men’s stuff is more classic preppy, but with some subtle accents. Women’s is more varied, with some things more classic and some things more contemporary. Came here for Christmas shopping and found something for almost everyone on my list.

Preppster duds for both men and women alike. Cute belts and awesome accessories to go with your everyday accessories – colorful scarves, equestrian inspired belts, great very very reasonably priced ties for men and great hats alike. Cute store, well laid out. Customer service is here and there, but overall good. They are very accommodating when transferring from other stores or exchanges!

Rude staff. After passing this very cute store on my way home for over a year I decided to stop in. I was looking for a birthday present for my mom and was willing to splurge. I was the only customer in the store and the 2 sales people working never even acknowledged me. My feeling was it was because I was in the sale section. Ultimately I decided not to ‘reward’ their rudeness by buying anything and left. The clothing is absolutely beautiful — although expensive. A very disappointing experience.

I’ve always been a fan of J McLaughlin. If you’re looking for some trousers with marlins or a good pair of madras, JM is you’re place. This location is decent, but the men’s section is a bit tiny. I personally like JM back in Winnetka, IL. This was the branch that turned me on to the store and the two ladies always greeted me with a smile and showed me something sartorial and fun to buy that day.

As preppy as you want to be should be the motto of this store, but I like it. Perfect for that country club or sailing look, their men’s cords and khakis are a cut above the rest, and worth spending on. Nice selection of ties with animal and sporty motifs, same goes for their excellent belt selection. Another word that comes to mind is whimsical. Stopped in yesterday with Wifey, who curiously didn’t purchase any of the four dresses she tried on, but I myself left with a pair of sterling silver skull cufflinks.
