I hired Haley House to cater 30 cupcakes and a beautiful fruit tray for my work function, and it was amazing. Both kinds of their cupcakes — chocolate or coconut/passionfruit/vanilla — are delicious! And, each cupcake is HUGE. Daniel, their catering guy, set me up and he was very responsive and helpful. And, they delivered right on time with everything carefully packaged for a beautiful presentation. All my coworkers oooh’d and ahhh’d and ate everything we had. And, knowing our dollars went to support a community organization that helps the under-employed and less fortunate is icing on the cake(I know, terrible pun!) :) Call, order their cupcakes for your event, and enjoy! The only drawback: When I went to their bakery on Dartmouth to sample the cupcakes, the ones I got were a bit dry, like they’d been there for a day or two. They were still delicious but nowhere nearly as good as the fresh-made ones they delivered to my office.

I love Haley House. I always have. My mum used to bring my sisters and I here to help make dinners when we were little. I then volunteered for a short time, working in the café, and once I find time in my schedule again I’d love to go back and lend a hand in all the amazing things they do here. In the meantime… I’ll buy coffee and muffins! My dad has a particular favorite guy who works here. He’s boisterous and has complimented my dad on his glasses. They seem to get along well, and my dad looks forward to getting a chat from this guy when we stop in. They are closed on Mondays, which is usually when we try to stop in and get coffee… Gotta start remembering! They also have day old pastries, which are still very soft and tasty usually. This is also a pick up location for pies around the holidays. Do something good while you grab a coffee and a muffin. Go to The Haley House Café.

Baked goods are standard and good, but I go here because I love the concept of the place. I think it’s wonderful that people are given a second chance and an opportunity to work in such a happy setting. I go to support the reason for its existence. I’ve seen how working there has turned lives around.

The best part of Haley House is the good work they do in serving breakfast to you-wouldn’t-believe-how-many needy people. The next best thing that I know they do is let a group of senior neighborhood activists and artists and friends and fans aka ‘The Geezers’ get together every Tuesday morning at 10 to talk about life and how to make it better. If you have a take on aging at home in the South End and environs, on a book or a play or a film or an economic or political question(no rants, please; humbly stated opinions welcomed and debated) or a service you appreciate or need, come join us. And then you can have some of Haley House’s wonderful baked goods and gracious friendly service.

I tend to forget about this place, and need to stop doing so when I forget my lunch or need a cup of coffee. The Haley House has great coffee, pastries, sandwiches and to go items at this location, and there’s no seating here like the location in Dudley. They still have amazing treats. The muffins are yummy, and are pretty health food filled so you don’t feel so bad about eating them. The coffee and service is always nice, and I will be stopping here more to try and support a good cause.

This tiny, take-out-only bakery in the South End(I didn’t know about the Dudley Sq. spot) has fantastic, fresh pies, tarts, muffins, etc. The staff is super-nice and the food is better/= to Flour which is a 10 minute walk away.
