A yummy lunch. The combo special was a very decent price. We had the beef with green beans & sesame chicken. Cleaned our plates, which doesn’t happen often, we usually leave some, but the was too good.

I absolutely love Dumpling Palace as a sit down restaurant. The dumplings and overall cuisine I’ve eaten there has been above average compared to other restaurants in Chinatown. My top recommendations are: Crab and pork juicy dumplings Pan fried pork bun Shanghai style Pork and leek steamed dumplings The reason I’ve given them a 3-star, however, is because the delivery food I’ve received was atrocious. Poorly packaged dumplings, bland general Tsao’s chicken, and«fried rice» that wasn’t even fried. I will exclusively be a dine-in customer from now on.

It’s pretty awesome that they’re open at 3 am. The boba selection wasn’t as large as other places I’ve been but they had a lot of good food. Definitely coming back again in the future.

This place has decent Chinese food. The sausage fried rice is good and the dumplings are average. I also tried the hot and sour soup and it’s what you’d expect. The delivery is horrible! If you’re looking for delivery, do not order from this place unless you want to wait 1.5 hours and get greeted by a rude delivery guy that wants a big tip! Trust me, he says something to you if you don’t give him«enough.»

I’ve had Dumpling Palace three times. Twice for sit down, and once for delivery. Tonight, I was so disappointed because this place serves such delicious food and I even took my best friend here since it was her first time, but it was a disaster. My friend and I ordered two orders of dumplings and an order chicken fried rice. What we thought was burnt onion or garlic ended up being a used lit up cigarette. We were in shock and just stared at it because we couldn’t process what was in front of us. We immediately told a waitress who then ran to the manager. The manager originally told us that it was probably the delivery guy(which made no sense because we were sitting down and eating at the restaurant). He then told us the entire meal was free and he’ll make us a new chicken fried rice free of charge. As we were waiting for our new fried rice, we saw one of the chefs storm out. Once our food arrived, he told us that the chef that cooked our food got into a fight with the executive chef therefore out of anger he threw the cigarette bud into our meal. Apparently, there’ve been issues with this chef for the past few days. Believe me when I say this, their food is delicious which is why I took my friend here in the first place. However, that was absolutely repulsive and uncalled for. We were in shock and we can tell the managers, waiters, and waitresses were just as shocked and embarrassed. Had this been anyone else in our position, reactions would’ve been so much worst. But as students, we didn’t want to make a scene.

Kung Pao Shrimp– made with tiny frozen shrimp treated with sodium triphosphate. Tastes far from fresh. Sweet and sour flounder — made from frozen founder nuggets, heavily battered. Not freshly fried, was mushy. Canned sweet and sour sauce. Three pieces of broccoli of varying age/limpness. Small portions. Providing quality is definitely not a concern for this restaurant. Not recommended. You’ve been warned.

Late night soup dumplings … exactly what I needed. I had this crazy appetite after a night of drinking. We were so glad that among the many(but closed) food options in the area, this one stayed open until 3am.

I placed an order for delivery and they got there within 45 minutes. The dumpling were delicious, we had steamed pork and crab dumplings, plain pork dumplings, pork and leek dumplings fried. The steamed dumplings were great as soon as you bite into them the broth they were steamed in burst into your mouth. So delicious. We also ordered mango shrimp it was blah, salt n pepper shrimp was great! The rice cakes with chicken and dandelion leaves it was simple which I’m fond of from time to time but the flat circular rice cakes had a after taste that I didn’t like. This place is a little expensive but besides those minor things this place is great. I will order from here again some day.

I’ve been here a couple times and I’ve had food delivered to me also. Coming to the restaurant, has a very cozy vibe. Service can be a little bit slow sometimes because there’s so many customers, but service is great! I’ve had the soup dumplings and the minced pork over rice and those dishes were pretty good! The only thing I wouldn’t recommend getting is the Shanghai style fried dumplings because it’s only 4 of them for $ 8. I personally don’t think it’s worth the price and when I had it, it wasn’t even crispy, so that made me a little bit upset. For delivery, I got the beef fried rice and the shrimp fried rice. Both were delicious! One plate of the fried rice was basically two meals for me because the portions are huge, or well for me it is. But what I like about their fried rice is that they both came with a good amount of meat. Usually when I order fried rice from various Asian restaurants, they don’t give that much meat, but more rice. But Dumpling Palace gave me a good amount of meat along with my rice which was really nice. Also, I expected my delivery to come in 45 – 60 minutes after I ordered, but it came within less than that time, which was great! This is also a great place for many college students because it’s right by NEU and Berklee, is T accessible, and it closes at 3AM!

This is legitimately the BEST bad Chinese food restaurant you’re craving. Do you ever find yourself craving bad Chinese food & by bad, I mean really greasy Americanized, «oh Christ, why do I make these life choices… but no regrets.» Chinese food? No? Yes? If you ever crave Panda Express or PF Changs, this is you, btw. I’ve never physically been inside the restaurant before because I’m a lazy sack of potatoes & order off Eat24. I have to say, it truly hits that craving for bad Chinese food. I know this is a strange concept since I always want good Chinese food(I miss you, California, I miss you), but sometimes you just want a Hot Pocket over a pizza, ya feel? Or sometimes you want to just order Papa John’s instead of going to North End for some pizza. Maybe some Chef Boyardee instead of real Italian? You get the point. Anyway, I’ve had the Taiwanese omelettes from here. They’re incredibly salty & the epitome of my perception of Taiwanese cuisine: really strange textures no white person would like, but I’m totally into it. The spinach that rests on the bottom is out of place, considering it should be in the omelette, but… I guess they’re like, «YOLO, SPINACHBEDFORDAYS!» The seafood they use is frozen & not very fresh, which makes the omelette even less enjoyable. That chewy texture though, it’s interesting. They don’t read or care for any of your special instructions on Eat 24, so if you asked them to use tofu instead of beef, their response is, «YOLO — YOUGETBEEF, BYEFELICIA.» It’s not ideal, but for you meat eaters out there, I ordered the flat wide noodles – greasy salty mess – & the beef was inedible. It was chewy & tasted old. I’ve gotten the tofu & preserved egg appetizer twice & enjoyed it because I’m all about that thousand year old egg. The sauce they pour on is really good, but way too salty. I think I’ve ingested my recommended sodium intake after just one bite. It would be optimal if they gave you the sauce on the side. They have a lot of dumplings, but at the same time, not that many. I’ve had all the vegetarian & pescetarian ones(about 3?). A bit pricey($ 8) for some mediocre shrimp dumplings, so hard pass. If they had egg foo young, this would complete the best bad Chinese food review, but they don’t. Can’t call yourself a dumpling palace if you don’t have more dumplings than that, y’all! Gimme more! Mapo tofu isn’t very good, but it hits a spot. Lacks the right mapo flavor, but I love tofu so much I thoroughly enjoy it. Again, way too salty, but that’s what you look for in bad Chinese, right? I love & hate this place. It’s deliciously bad. I don’t know how else to describe it; wait, I lied, it’s like craving a frozen chimichanga to satisfy your Mexican craving. All in all, delivery is fast, they don’t read your instructions so have fun with that, & not gonna lie, I’ll probably be ordering from them in the future. Guilty pleasures, my friends, guilty pleasures. Not proud of myself, but YOLOOOOOOOO. Have I said YOLO too much in this review? YOLO. Anyway, not a solid restaurant I’d recommend, but definitely a solid place for that bad Chinese food craving.

This place was delicious. I’ve had some bad xiaolongbao before, and these are decent and tasty. Skin wasn’t all thick like some reviews describe and the filling was a savory and full of soup. Definitely better than anything I have found in Texas. I’m from California and these are on par with what I’m used to. The restaurant is small and family owned and the service was what I expected. You come here for the food not to be coddled. Go to PF Changs if you want that. That being said, I wasn’t unsatisfied with my service. I didn’t know the name of one of the dishes I wanted and I showed the waitress the Unilocal picture and got exactly what I wanted. She was super patient too. Give this place a shot, it’s worth it. You know it’s legit because there were a ton of Chinese people eating there.

Ok at least I’ll give them the fact that they’re probably the best Chinese food west of Chinatown, so hence 2 stars instead of 1. Being the«dumpling» place, I wholeheartedly agree with other reviewers that the XLB leaves much to be desired. The skin is way too thick, it’s not soupy enough, and the crab versions don’t have enough crab. The rest of the menu is a mix of Americanized dishes and some more traditional ones. I do like the fact that they offer stir fried bean sprouts, which is my favorite simple vegetable dish to get in Chinese restaurants. But overwhelmingly, all the dishes come out way way too oily.

Not the same as Joe Shanghai in NYC, but it does satisfy the cravings. I have eaten here a few times and it was good, for the most part. Base on the menu, I believe this is a sister restaurant of Dumpling Café in Chinatown, which was my favorite place for mini soup dumplings. I go here now because it’s easier to find a parking space. I like to include prkg info on all my reviews because it’s helpful to those who drives. You won’t get to eat if you can’t find a parking, right? I was a little disappointed this time. First, they messed up my order. Then, they recommended me some really awful food that I couldn’t even eat. Check photo for details. Nonetheless, I will go back again when I grave for mini soup dumplings(xiao long Bao)

I don’t know where all the negative reviews are coming from but it seems like most of the issues have been with online ordering … and through Unilocal — which I understand THAT being a bad experience — but I dined at this restaurant when he got off his shift and the food was decent and service was no issue. This was my boyfriend’s first time eating XLB or the soup dumplings. We also had the minced pork with black bean sauce noodles. The menus consists of actual Taiwanese staples. Loved the XLBs and the noodles were good but I’ve had better. If I ever go back, and I would, I want to try their beef noodle soup — true sign of authenticity in a Taiwanese/Chinese restaurant.

This place is super unassuming but the food is great! There isn’t much of an atmosphere, and the service won’t leave you feeling like royalty, but that stuff is for the birds. I’m here for the food. Dumpling Palace serves up delicious, flavorful, authentic chinese dishes outside of Chinatown. I think the only difference here is you’ll see more people(probably my friends) ordering more of the cheesy dishes such as generals chicken and such. I’m only ever here straight out of the club since they are open until 3am, but the food has definitely made my friends and I want to make the daytime trip from Providence for a less-guilty meal. The soup dumplings are so good but proceed with caution, because they are HOT!

As Chinese/Taiwanese as Taco Bell is Mexican. Literally running out of here to wash this down with anything. Came here cautiously optimistic, avoiding the xlb(soup dumplings) which as reviewers state, have super thick skin(not the real deal — check the photos for proof). Was craving pork leek dumplings… unfortunately theirs was brined in salt. For days. Have NEVER had worse dumplings, short of them being raw. The oyster omelette would make any Taiwanese cry. Swimming on a bed of oil and spinach. The authentic version is NEVER resting on top of a bed of veggies, certainly not spinach. The dish is made with a Chinese vegetable called A Tsai, chopped and sautéed directly in the omelette… as omelettes typically go. If we were in Alaska with minimal Asian cuisine, this might be acceptable. Save yourself heartburn and heartache — head to Dumpling Café or Gourmet Dumpling House in Chinatown for proper dumplings.

Dumpling Palace has been on my list for sometime. It’s worth noting that great Chinese venues are showing up outside of Chinatown. Indeed, my next new restaurant to visit is in Central Square. This expansion beyond downtown makes me happy. When trying out a Taiwanese restaurant, I tend to order the xiao long bao, shui zhu you, and oyster pancake. We ordered the first two and a scallion pancake last night. The XLB were fresh and juicy inside. I liked the skin consistency but felt that it broke too easily. Sometimes, restaurants add a lot of extraneous spice to shui zhu you and there’s no nuance. This was not the case here. I liked their approach to the dish. It’s worth noting that they seem to put in less fish than their sister restaurant in Chinatown. I was not impressed with the scallion pancake. It’s an extensive menu. I must try their ma pa tofu, oyster pancake, rice cake with mustard greens, lamb, etc. A few of the reviewers spoke about how the service was cold or unfriendly. I found the servers to be very attentive and warm.

Saw this place rated very highly and delivers until 4:00 am and was curious to give it a try. Ordered at 12:15 am and was delivered by 12:45 am. Ordered the Crab Rangoon, Mini Juicy Buns with Pork, Steamed Pork and Leek Dumplings and the Pan Fried Pork Buns. Fast service and received the items that I ordered considering it was past midnight when we placed our order. Highly recommend this place for a late night delivery if you have the munchies.

Best deal for Chinese food around the Back Bay/Fenway neighborhood. Is this the best Chinese food around? Nah. + XIAOLONGBAO: There is a generous amount of soup in each dumpling, and the crab meat is tender and good. The dumplings also don’t get super hard after sitting out for awhile. — BEEFCHOWFUN: This dish was really, really salty. It was essentially like a Chinese version of pad see you but much saltier. — THREECUPSCHICKEN: This is usually my favorite Chinese dish, but the bones got in the way while chewing and the broth was way too salty. The service is not present, but they do get you in and out as fast as they can. There was no tea and no smiles. There is a tank of live lobsters in the restaurant, which is great for families and kids to sit near.
