I LOVEITHERE! Fine variety of music, to get the celebration started. A great pub and even better bartenders. Thanks for making me my juice cocktail free of charge! I felt like a star! I do not understand what was in my cocktail, except for various juices, but I adored it. He even did the small shake shake shake thing to allow it to be look like I was getting a boozy concoction. I love how comfy and trendy it’s in here.

Love this place, food good, drinks great, I love the décor and perfect date night. My break down of this place, would you bring a date there… yes, would you hang out with family there… no. With the size of this place it is medium but they do need more waitress staff because it can get busy, then you looking Around like… hello…I’m here lol. Only reason why I give it a 4 star Not 5 but great place overall

One of my favourite pubs in Boston — I ‘m unsure why, but I believe it’s everything that a resort pub needs to be. It’s little, close, but still packs a dynamic bunch. The ice attempt in the pub gleams, which gives it a fantastic vibe. I’d say if you were going to have an affair, this will be an excellent spot to meet. Not that I’m saying you should have an affair…

This is by far the worst dining experience I have had in Boston. Let me start out by saying me and my boyfriend who lives in the area came here on a Tuesday night, wanting some drinks and appetizers. I don’t know who the owner is, or who is staffing the manager and servers but the service here is terrible. In fact terrible doesn’t cut it. I am astonished at how the manager handles customers, and has not even an ounce of courtesy or respect for the patrons of the restaurant. When dealing with a rude, obnoxious and offensive manager who has no talent whatsoever in doing her job which is HANDLING customers and customer issues we felt the need to leave. I am visiting town from Vancouver, and in my past have over 7 years of hospitality experience including managing high-end restaurant lounges. I know what the industry is about an what service entails. I’m not sure how the place is running with such amateurs. Highly disappointed and will not return.

I’ve walked by this place numerous times and always thought the place exuded cool. So, I decided to check it out. The interior was chic and club-like enough to make one feel somewhat debonair, but thankfully, it was also relaxed enough for one to settle down, have a drink, and engage in conversation with some friends. The bartender who served me had solid beer recommendations, and he was remarkably efficient and attentive despite dealing with a lot of customers. I had two beers, and frankly, I should have capped it there. The mistake I made was ordering the house burger, which sounded great on the menu, but was in fact completely average in every regard except for the price tag.(A whopping $ 16.) There were barely any unique toppings except for some stringy pickled onions that looked rather old. The burger was cooked fine, but the meat was bland and uninteresting. Even the fries that came on the side could have been fried a little longer and lacked finesse. It was a really disappointing and seriously overpriced meal that rather spoiled the City Bar experience for me. Again, go for the drinks and the ambiance. But either eat somewhere else, or don’t order the burger like i did.

Horrid waitress and manager. We had some deserts from outside and decided to take a bite while waiting to be served. Our waitress did not say a thing, no sign indicating not allowed, and we just had a bite… instead of our waitress asking us to put away… she had the«manager» come to our table and admonish us. Wow. Horrible way to handle this. Too bad our waitress lacked the respect and courtesy to tell us herself. Drinks were mediocre and over priced. Won’t be back.

Bartenders and wait staff are all phenomenal. They’re super friendly, personable, pour drinks properly and always seem to be in a good mood. Ambience in here is sophisticated, and relatively quiet. It’s nice to come in here and actually be able to have a conversation. Definitely recommend!

We just had the worst food and lack luster service here. I’m not really sure what to say about it aside from it wasn’t good. Note that we did only order small plates and did not have entrees. When our plates arrived they just dropped them off — not a word about what we were eating — and since both dishes ordered were flights(tacos and burgers), it would have been helpful to discuss it for a moment. The tacos were bland and mushy. The 3 sliders were too sweet, too overdone and too bland. We took a bite of everything, moved in and ate the French fries. The fries were ok. They pour huge — which I get that some people like but I don’t. I find it distasteful and usually a sign that they’re hiding something behind your boozy mind. For the price and for the location they should be doing it better. For a hotel bar, it’s not bad for meet and greets, it’s clean, it’s dark and the crowd is on the earlier side of middle aged. Business travelers.

The Lennox hotel lobby is classy, and the service was nice. Unfortunately, the the bartender did not know how to mix drinks. All our drinks were absurdly sweet to the point of being undrinkable, including an old fashioned which should be standard fare but instead tasted like liquified sugar candy. I’d stick with beer or wine.

The city bar is an industry bar for sure! I love the lighting and the hard wood floors. There are also some comfy couches in the sides. I really enjoyed coming here and meeting different industry people!

Cocktail lounge/Hotel bar Walked in for cocktails in this bar located in the Lenox Hotel. Cool interior, great bartenders and tasty drinks. I had a Sazerac and a Mint Julep. I recommend this bar!

Scratch ticket. What do I mean? You buy scratch tickets hoping to score your way to either a $ 20, $ 50, $ 100, or $ 50,000 jackpot win. Most of the time, however? You get nothing, «free ticket», or a measly $ 5. That’s what City Bar is for me. I almost always stop by here to find a crowd of deliciousness(and I have no idea where I got that impression), but most of the time it’s a sausage sword fight. Bartenders are über cool, and I do like the noir-like ambiance, but the only time I’ve seen gorge babe-aronis, is if they’re surrounded by… sausage musketeers. Lots of them. I have to give credit to the staff though. They really are a cool bunch, and after 3 years, I think it’s become a habit more than anything else. Good cocktails, not-so-great draft beer selection, but comfort food rocks. So if there’s nothing to flirt with, at least I tongue-waltz with a bunch of appetizers.

(6÷16÷2015) Came to City Bar for a nightcap and because it was on some list as one of the best scotch bars in Boston. Indeed, there was an extensive liquor list, scotches and bourbons. The bar itself, though is small, like a dimly lit second lobby for the Lenox Hotel, and maybe it was; had the garish lighting of a seedy pickup bar and aside from our little group of coworkers, not sure who else was lurking there. We were well-tended, drinks were pricey.

City Bar can still be relied on for excellent service, a great atmosphere and well-crafted drinks. After not even getting looked at while waiting for 15 minutes at Precinct(see my Precinct review), we coasted down the road here and had several excellent drinks. Thanks City Bar!

My boyfriend & I stopped in here on a weeknight. The atmosphere is great and they play good smooth music. It’s nice if you want to have an intimate conversation, but we also met some really nice people at the bar. The drink prices are very reasonable and the bartender was awesome. I asked her for a suggestion and after asking me a few questions, she made me the perfect drink that wasn’t on the menu. If you just want to hang out and relax, this is good place

Maybe I had too high of expectations after reading the reviews for this place. It’s nice but nothing really separates it from any of the other places in the area. I ordered a Manhattan, straight up to which the bartender replied«So you want that without vermouth?» I was going to eat dinner but the service was remarkably slow for a normal Wednesday night so I ended up dining elsewhere. I suppose it could be a good spot if you’re staying in the hotel but I’d never walk out of my way to go there.

Hidden away in the Lenox hotel, the City Bar is a great spot for grabbing cocktails with an intimate groups of friends or a date. It’s dark with light music playing and candles on wooden tables. They have an amazing cocktail list with a range of martinis, multiple moscow mules(one with mango), and a great wine list. They also had a good selection of food. The lobster bisque was very tasty. You may pay a little extra for the ambiance, but it is totally worth it.

Loved the vibe and the atmosphere. Service was prompt, friendly, and unpretentious. We already had dinner so we didn’t necessarily have a chance to taste their bites. The whiskey smash was refreshing and still very much apropos despite of the cold, Boston weather. Hubby’s manhattan also received a thumbs-up. I’m sure we would have enjoyed it for an even longer visit but we were quite pleased during our short but sweet visit.

*mimosa del rio(champagne with mango purée; this was so good!!! Perfectly sweet and bubbly. It’s a great combination and totally enjoyed having that late night) *guava martini(guava is not my favorite fruit but for those who enjoy it, they would love this martini; definitely a great tropical feel to this cocktail) This bar is cozy and chic. Nice ambience at nighttime, however this bar is way too dark. A little more lighting wouldn’t hurt. City Bar is in the Lenox Hotel, which is gorgeous and super swanky. The staff in the hotel is super nice too. If I were in the area again, I would go back to this bar and try more of those fun cocktails!

This is my FAVORITE bar in Boston! Drinks are fantastic, yes a little pricey, but I’d rather have a great cocktail here than 2 average well drinks at Pour House. The food is great, the service is great, bartenders are fantastic. Dirty Martini is delicious. I use to go to City Bar earlier in the evenings to start off my night, but started stopping by around 10 on Fridays and Saturdays and soon found there is always a classy party going on. The cliental is very mixed age-wise: young-older professionals and some students, which I really like. I’ve come here alone, I’ve come here on dates, I’ve come here with my mom and I always bring out-of-town guests here! I’m a recent grad from Berklee, so sometimes bars can kill my vibe with the music they play, but I must say, I always enjoy the music at City Bar. It’s an interesting mix(also changes depending on the time of day). From Passion Pit to 90’s RnB Slow Jams to Top 40 at the peak of a Friday night, they always know what’s up. Icing on the cake: the Lenox Hotel’s lobby smells UH-MAZING. If you like Gardenias or Lush products, you have to stop by just to get a wiff :)
