The good… its cheap. The bad… its cheap tasting. Honestly some of the worst Chinese food ive had. It tasted like it sat around for a few days before it was served… old. Avoid.

I was very pleased with their lunch special for $ 9.99 and my aunt had their chow mein. When they list out the different dishes, you actually get portions of all of them for their special! There weren’t that much vegetables in the chow mein even though we requested it. However, we were happy with the large portion. I was able to save half of it for another meal! I tried to be healthy so I would save half of the meat and grab some brown rice at home for dinner. Overall, highly recommended for their lunch.

Oh quik wok, why has it come to this? My family has been going to the overland location for the better part of a decade with as many as 50 visits. Fewer lately though. Many years ago the atmosphere was vibrant and inviting. The food was hot and prepared expertly as ordered. It was extremely clean inside and the wait staff was very professional. Fast forward 8 years. The sidewalk is falling apart, weeds growing around the building and through the fissures in the dilapidated patio. You are greeted at the door by a wooden dragon carving that has contacted leprosy. Behind the two sets of double doors you can immediately find carpet that is stained beyond the point of cleaning without the use of gasoline and a match, the ceiling soiled and brownish. The transformation of this business is akin to the Time magazine pictures of the wasteland that is now Detroit. The food is greasy and somehow manages to taste the same no matter what you order. Sugar and preservative. If you call your order in they will gladly write the items down, wait until you show up to pay, and only then will they make it. I long for the days of a bygone era. RIP quik wok, I will miss you.

It’s alright. That said, here’s some history: Back in 2005 I moved here, and the first«Chinese» food I had was at Ben’s Quik Wok down in Kuna. I was amazed at the quality of food and the timeliness, for it being a quick take-out or sit down. The option of having a full American diner menu as well as a full Chinese menu blew my mind. Needless to say, I enjoyed their food for four years before moving to Boise. I visited the location at 4858 W Overland, expecting the same type of experience, sans the American diner option. Not once, in six years of eating here, has it ever came close to the Kuna location. To be fair, the location on South Broadway in Boise isn’t as good as Kuna either. Now, I thought maybe my taste buds were having issues, so I visited the Kuna location within a week of eating at either of the other two locations, and had the exact same dish. It tasted a little different in Kuna, and much better. The Overland location always seems to move at it’s own pace(slow), no matter how few customers are dining in, or are in the drive-thru. If you call ahead of time, you still may wait 15 minutes in the lobby for your single combination dinner. It’s decent, but with so many other Asian offerings, I’d venture elsewhere.

We are fairly new to Boise and thought we’d try Quik Wok. Unfortunately it was the worst«Chinese» food I have ever had. For example, I had Almond Chicken that tasted like the chicken has been fried then drown in brown gravy, and topped with a handful of raw slivered almonds. There was absolutely nothing about the almond chicken that even remotely resembled Asian cuisine. Everything was heavy and greasy. We don’t plan on visiting here again and can find no reason to recommend it.

Really wish I had read the reviews before I ordered. I wasn’t expecting anything to gourmet from a Chinese food delivery place, just something quick and easy to feed my family while I was sick. Still, I was extremely disappointed! Not only did I not receive the correct items in my order, when I called to nicely tell them I was treated terribly. It was like they were convinced I was trying to scam them out of $ 7 worth of Chinese food! The food I did receive was terrible and the customer service was even worse. Very disappointed!

I love this place. We like to dine in and get the 9.99 special for that particular day of the week and a small order of fried rice. The 9.99 special is always enough to feed my significant other and myself, and we have leftovers. Is it a fancy place? No, but do you get what you pay for? Yes.

Not impressed to say the least. When I was 19 I waited tables here, it’s sad to see such a sharp decrease in customer service and over all quality, I was saddened to see it so run down and the quality of the food is terrible now. The owners wife now runs it after he passed due to cancer and it would seem she isn’t too concerned with keeping the tradition alive. She took my order after about fifteen minutes and then u didn’t see her for another 30 minutes until the food came out. When I needed some soy sauce I had to get up and go find her chatting with the girl friends in the back half of the restaurant which is apparently now a storage unit as well. Terribly sad and disappointing!

They are not consistent with their online delivery. They will either arrive earlier than what you planned or will arrive over an hour late. The owner will not directly take responsibility to ensure that online orders will be on time or take responsibility for the quality of food if the order was over an hour late… I will take my money elsewhere…

I used to like this place but the more I go the less I like it. In fact, I think tonight was my last go… The food is just OK and the service is either really good or just ridiculous. Anyway, typical Chinese food from a can. An interesting note… Tonight we found the following verbiage on the menu, «Due to the nature of our cooking processes, our food contains MSG. If you are allergic to MSG we suggest that you do not consume our food». There is no other option? So…I doubt very much that they have a big barrel of MSG. In fact, I would guess that most, if not all of there’s sauces are prepared and ordered directly from SYSCO. Tonight, we had the distinct pleasure of the pungent smell of garbage. I’m not sure from whence this delightful waft of stench originated but it was a perfect side to the nasty leather covered pot stinkers they served me… it was like someone had dropped a deuce right in my mouth.

We ordered the combo chow mien and the combo fried rice… Very very disappointed. Out of 7 people eating at our house, no one would eat the chow mien, the noodles were so rock solid that my kids couldn’t even chew them, and refused to eat! The shrimp were the tiny cheap little ones you by to go fishing with, there was barely any type of meat or veggies in them and it was just a bad meal, and for $ 35 it’s was really unacceptable! Then, when we called and talked to the man at the store, he didn’t care. He kept interrupting when I would talk. He said he fried the noodles on the grill to make them a little crunchy and when I told them they were not like that, that it was obviously a few day old rock solid, all he offered was 10% off next order… Yeah, NO chance we will be ordering from this place again! Over priced, poor quality, nasty food, inconsiderate service… Oh and it took over an hour to get our food!

I went to this Chinese place today and expected the food to be subpar based on the internal appearance but was surprised at how terrible it actually was. The chicken, both general and mandarin, tasted like it had been retried from a Popeye’s fried chicken popper and covered with oriental sauces to hide the fact that it was weeks old. The rice was standard but if you like Chinese chicken do NOT eat here!

Quik Wok has online ordering, which is a huge plus. It also has a pretty big delivery area, but our food was still delivered in a timely fashion(doubly impressive considering all the construction near our home.) The delivery man was fast and friendly. Let me start off by saying they have the best crab rangoon I’ve ever had. At first glance, the wontons were small — basically just a pocket for the crab and cream cheese. However, they were stuffed full of crab and cream cheese, and in the perfect proportions. You may get less of the wonton, but more of the cheesy crabby goodness, and that’s what matters right? It tasted good with the extra mandarin sauce I had for my chicken. Sadly the chicken was breaded and overcooked. The mandarin sauce was good, however. My husband had the General Tso’s. His was also overly cooked and too spicy, and he likes a good amount of heat. I guess I’ll have to make a trip out of my way the next time I’m craving crab rangoon(so, so good) because I don’t think I’ll be able to talk my husband into delivery again, and crab rangoon alone won’t warrant delivery.

Not sure why I come here probably cause it’s confident. I mostly order to go but today I dined in. Never again! People came in after us & was served and out the door before we got our meal. Next time I will go to golden star down the road… they actually have waitresses. not one man doing everything.

Quik Wok is your standard delivery place Chinese Food for Boise. They’re ok. They’re pretty fast as far as Chinese delivery, and I’ve almost always had a friendly driver. Food quality is right down the middle. It’s fairly greasy, but not overly so. Ok, but nothing earth-shattering.

This Review is for DELIVERY from Quik Wok. I’ve never eaten in the restaurant. The biggest plus for my husband and I is that we live only blocks from this location, so our fried rice, sweet & sour pork and chicken almost ding(all from Famiy Dinner #8) are always hot and fresh. There has been some vascilation lately with their egg rolls and fried shrimp and sometimes we wonder if it’s the cook or if they’ve changed procedures or brands. You’ll never lack for hot yellow mustard, sesame seeds, soy sauce or ketchup(ketchup???) as they seem to to dole it out by the handful– but you DO have to ask for fortune cookies, which I find odd. I used to order the #8 as it appears on the menu but I’m not a fan of the house salad. so I leave that off and substitute a large order of egg roll. So the biggest plus to us, for Quik Wok, is the convenience of delivery. I can easily tuck into the aforementioned items knowing I’ll get a decent meal and leftovers! OH and they user REALREDPORK. not ham like some of the cheesy places around here!
