I was in town for a golf vacation with a colleague of mine this week. After a long day on the course we decided to check out the local nightlife, when we stumbled upon this diamond in the rough. First, we saw the upper deck seemed to be liveliest. It proved to be the doings of the ol’ Barkeep, Gunner. Within seconds of our tail ends hitting the bar stools Gunner had greeted us and was eager to get us the frosty beverage we so craved. The hospitality only blossomed from there. Long story short, my colleague and I made 2 other stops this week. Reason being, you can get a beer anywhere, but the experience that Gunner provided us each visit will keep us coming back each time we are in town. Not only was he a great bartender, but he became a highlight of our stay and hopefully a life long friend.

Great Sunday brunch! The seafood omelette was outstanding, and bottomless mimosas for $ 6 highly recommend!

Atmosphere is great, inside/outside eating year around. We ate brunch, my husband had fish and chips and thought it was really good. I had the fish melt sandwich, I can’t think of which fish but it was amazing! So yummy! I ordered bottomless mimosas, they weren’t my favorite, I was a little disappointed. We would definitely visit again!

The manager was extraordinarily rude; he blocked the exit and told me I could not leave through the restaurant with my service dog, which is understandable. We entered that way because the outdoor entrance which leads directly to the street was locked. Upon explaining the situation he did not offer a solution but rather continued to block our exit. We were only let out once I tracked down a waitress and asked her to unlock the door. I understand the reason we were not permitted to exit through the dining room but the way the situation was handled was rude and embarrassing, to say the least.

Living in Las Vegas is very hard to find good seafood. My objective was to eat as much seafood as possible in 10 days. Captain Woody’s offered me an excellent fried oyster po boy. They know how to cook those oysters, keep them juicy and very tasty at the same time. Sat outside with our doggy companion, Molly and we all enjoyed a wonderful visit. I would definitely go back.

Excellent shrimp and grits. My fiancé loved it so much he kept eating off my plate. We also had key lime pie and it was perfect, homemade and just right. They have a good selection of drinks and wine if you are not too picky. The atmosphere is family oriented and not too loud. Our waiter was super nice and brought everything back on a timely manner.

Great food and drinks at a great price. Try the fish tacos!!! They are even better than the fancy taco place next door except they are way better priced. However the attitudes of the up stairs bartenders ruins it for me. Been going there every so often and the 2 older fellas tending bar are never friendly. Not sure if one of them is the owner but he sure acts like it and acts like he doesn’t appreciate your patronage. Even with all that the tacos and happy hour specials will bring me back.

Varied selections. Food average for the price. The clam chowder was very watery without much flavor. My chair/table smelled of stale beer. Quaint location near historic Blufton. Would go again.

One of my favorite places to go in Bluffton. Highly recommend it. Especially during happy hour upstairs. Food & service are great.

Came here at the recommendation of a friend. No airs about it, a local bar with casual atmosphere upstairs with a bar menu and live music. I’d definitely go back when I’m in the Bluffton area

Raining outside but enjoyed a delicious meal. Sat on patio with fans and listened to rain. Service was fast and friendly and food was great. Had oyster po-boy(best ever) with potato salad. Kudos!

We normally LOVE Captain Woodys. It’s one of our go-to restaurants in Bluffton. But on this visit, we stopped in for lunch and had a not-so-great experience. The service really blew it for us this time. We were sat at the same time as two other tables and we proceeded to watch them get their meals and finish their meals way before we ever received our food. We waited over 45 minutes to get our meals and when we looked for our waitress, she was non-existent. It seemed clear that once we finally received our meals that they had been baking under the heat lamps for a lonnng time because our fish was tough and shriveled up and our plates were blazing hot. Oh well, won’t stop us from coming back. But we will be avoiding this specific server.

Cute, bar atmosphere, but family friendly. I had the calamari with a sauce to die for as an app. My main dish was the fish and grits. Unreal, perfectly done with a taste that left me wanting more. Had their version of a rum runner, my wife thought it was a bit strong, I thought it was spot on. Close to Hilton Head and Savannah.

It’s in the middle of a cute little part of town. We wanted lunch and this was a nice location. The have a nice patio, full bar and relaxed seating. I ordered the shrimp po boy. Big, fresh shrimp! He ordered the Grouper Sandwich. We both had the fries. The food was fresh and tasty.

Came here from Va while on vacation and am really pleased with this place. Had the grilled platter of shrimp, crab and scallops. Good price and great seasonings and Prepared perfectly. Live music on the rooftop bar– they scout pretty darn good music too. Our Server was pleasant and on top of everything we needed. Will be back next time I’m in town for sure.

Woody’s has long been a HHI establishment. We stopped in the Bluffton location on our way out of town. The restaurant is really pretty cool with reclaimed wood and other goods as part of the décor and furniture. The food is fine. Woody’s has always been a steady contender for lunch items. The one thing to not miss is their seasoned fries — quite delicious.

Um. I really don’t know what to say about this place. There are mixed feelings… First off, the service was slow. The employee(s) failed to bring us a second menu as my friend and I were being ghetto since we were sharing the it. Not only that, they failed to bring us a second set of utensils. Um. I’ve never worked in the food industry, but isn’t this the bare minimum things: provide customers the correct number of menus and utensils. The final ticker: My friend noticed that there were food particles at the bottom of our water glasses. Yup. Surely enough she told me from personal experience why and how these particles came to be since she experienced it herself. It’s really gross since it’s probably relating to how unclean the dishwasher may be. Needless to say, their food was just average. Most things were fried. We both choose from the Woody’s Signature Fish Sandwiches section. In this category, there’s three types of fish to choose from: grouper($ 13.99), trigger($ 11.99), or fish of the day($ 9.99). Once you choose the fish you like, pick the type of sandwich you like: the melt, reuben, buffalo style, or simply fried. My friend’s grouper with the melt was salty as she stated. My fish of the day(which I can’t remember for the life of me what it was) with the buffalo style was flavorless. The food portion was decent enough. The seasoned fries were delish though. Lol. Would I ever recommend this place to anyone? Eh. I don’t know… Probably not.

Was down in the Hilton Head area and stopped in here for a bite to eat. Tried to got to The Corner Perk but after 3pm they just to take out sandwiches and we wanted to sit down and eat. They suggested Captain Woodys around the corner. It was pouring when we walked in which made the AC on our wet skin feel that much colder so we opted to sit outside under the covered patio. It was crazy loud at first because of the rain bouncing off the roof but once it slowed down it was definitely the place to be. I had the open face fish melt with cheese onions and mushrooms. Whatever was in the sauce on the side had a limey refreshing taste. I went for the catch of the day(Tilapia) since it was $ 4 more for the Grouper and not worth it in my opinion. In a place like this I don’t think you’re going to see a huge difference in the cut of white fish. The hush puppies were great too and were served hot with a soft honey butter to spread. The staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable. If I was back in the area I would probably try something else just based on variety but, wouldn’t be upset about winding up here another time.

This restaurant was a special treat. It was tucked into a quaint part of town and took a little bit to find and secure a parking spot. It was so worth the little bit of trouble. Captain Woodies is a gem. It has a wonderful pub like atmosphere with an energetic and friendly staff. I ordered the steamed shrimp and my wife and daughter had the fish and chips. Both served quick and delicious! For those who love the outdoors, they have a screened in outdoor dining area sure to please. Inside it’s air conditioned with ceiling fans.

Those scones were beyond amazing. The service was great and so was the food. Their menu had a lot of choices.
