I could wax nostalgic about what the Doc Marten brand means to me. I could go on and on about babydoll dresses and grunge, punk and kinderwhore memories of yore, but this is just a store. You can’t buy the past.
What you can buy are colorful, made in Britain boots and shoes in funky sweet styles. For the quality you get, the prices on the leather goods are great. I wasn’t completely sold on the clothing items.
The staff seemed to have genuine enthusiasm for the merchandise. They talked to me about different ways to wear certain styles and even some quick tips about how to work with the wax coating on the grungier finishes.
Sigh.
