Every time we eat here it is fabulous. The service is great and everything we have had on the menu is a winner. You have to get the hot German potato salad, along with sausage of some sort(lots of options). The children’s menu is great too(one for breakfast and another for lunch) and they deliver the kid’s meal as a fun little bundle wrapped up with a treat and a surprise. It is a quaint little café tucked into a strip mall, but once inside you feel transported to Europe. Even though it is tiny and stays busy, we have never had to wait for a table. They have an amazing case of desserts for you to drool over as you wait for your meal. You can enjoy a dessert from it or take to go. You will not regret coming here. Go. Now.

I stop here for lunch when I’m in Vestavia with time to spare. The service is always prompt and attentive, considering that most of the servers appear to be high schoolers. So I could rush in and out if necessary, but the food here is meant to be lingered over. It’s German-style fare(think sausage, potato salad, and pastries) with a few homages to the South, such as pecans in the strudel or southern-style biscuits with breakfast. The ambiance is south German and may seem kitschy.(At the moment I’m hearing yodeling songs playing softly in the background, low enough to ignore. Usually the music is pleasant and unobtrusive.) One detail that delights me, for some reason, is the eclectic assortment of antique-store chairs, with deliberately mismatched chairs at each table. Klingler’s is, in a word, gemütlich. I’ve never been disappointed, and I always leave happier than when I got here.

This is one of those reviews where I wish Unilocal allowed half stars! Pros: 1. The ambience! This place has some endearing and comforting Old World charm! Its traditional and classic and simple! Rugs, cuckoo clocks, etc. 2. The service. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. 3. A few classic German dishes if that’s your thing! Cons: 1. Lacking in menu choices that are healthy and vegetarian– or pescaterian-friendly. 2. Good quality. My boyfriend and his brother liked their dishes(grits plate and waffle respectively), but I was very dissatisfied with my order. I don’t eat meat, so my options were already quite limited. Add to that that I don’t like sweet breakfasts and there were very few options to choose from. I went with the salmon croquette Benedict. The salmon croquette was gray, dense, and tasteless. I’m not even convinced it was salmon. It was served on toast rather than a biscuit or English muffin(which was weird, because toast gets soggy so quickly)! And the potatoes were more bacon than potato! Definitely would not order it again!

This place has the best breakfast around in my opinion. Their line out the door proves im not the only believer in klingler’s amazing food, either. I have tried a different item each time and it is always excellent. I have also purchased from their great selection of pastries. Their cheese Danishes are out of this world. I plan on trying the Dutch baby pancake next time I make the trip to vestavia.

Seated immediately for lunch. Order taken promptly. I decided to try the Roasted Red Pepper Gouda Soup & Pecan Chicken Salad Sandwich on Wheat. Both were good but will probably try something else on my next visit. maybe Bratwurst or Bavarian Chicken Sandwich. The lunch combo also looked good. I had a Red Velvet Cake ball for something sweet and it was very good.

Big fan of breakfast! Went for lunch one day and we were not impressed. They were crowded though so maybe we didn’t order the right things. Service is very good and the bakery is such a nice place to take something to go or have with a cup of tea any time.

While waiting on a custom cake pick-up, we enjoyed some tea and pastries. The cake balls were delicious and the cake slices were moist and yummy. I like that the pastries aren’t TOO sweet. I don’t need my cavity to ache because I’m craving some sweets! A nice relaxing spot towards the end of the day on a Saturday. I knocked off a star because our cake was promised at 3:00 but it wasn’t there. We had to wait about an additional 35 minutes for it to arrive. Also, the wording was incorrect on the cake. Still, this place is cute and worth a try. Because of the wait, I got to try some of their other items so I didn’t mind too much.

Sunday morning coffe/pastry adventures… Klingler’s — pleasant and unexpected surprise. 4 stars only because the coffee was a basic brew. So as we continue to explore the coffee and pastry shops around Birmingham we decided that Klingler’s would be next. Fantastic little German bakery and cafè. I don’t understand why they don’t expand for a bit more room. The Goods: Coffee — was very good considering is was a basic brand. But I would expect a place like this to maybe have a good German cup of joe. Pastries — looked incredible! We went with the«Sticky Bun» and Bluebarry muffin. I can’t put into words to describe the pallet pleasing description. You’ll just have to try it for yourself. We’ll definitely be back for more yummy pastries on our cheat day. The menu looked great so a Sunday brunch will be in the future. Also… Drew, without being asked, even warmed the muffin. Way to look out bro! The Place: Cute, warm, inviting, cozy, ect — a must see. The Staff: Above par! And thats putting it mildly. Drew was the best and I hope he knows how much we appreciated him.

The place décor is pretty terrible, for my taste. Although, it’s very clean and somehow comfortable. The traditional German music that keeps on looping is so bad that it might be consider a health hazard! Wait staff is very professional and kind. Their breakfast was good, made out of VERY good quality ingredients and very well balanced. This place offer very good quality desserts, but all the rest is way off! A great place for take off orders

This little breakfast and bakery is easy to miss off of Montgomery Hwy because all the other store signs around it have the same fonts. The setting of the bakery is not what you’d expect. They sell cute and random European-inspired decorations. There’s wall of coo coo clocks on one end, and pastries and cakes on the other end. They also serve beer in the evening. The French toast looked nothing like the American French toast. It looked like a pancake was accidentally cooked on top of a piece of toast and that was what you were going to get. It tasted like dough and didn’t have enough sugar. The bacon was good. The German sauerkraut is cabbage with a pickled taste. The portions were too much. It was accompanied by small slices of meat. The entire dish was warm and fresh. I sampled their pecan pie, crumble cake, and lemon pie. They were all good.
