No wait to order. I had to look for a menu to look at. Lunch specials are not prominent. I tried the 3 Meat Stromboli. Everything was freshly prepared & tasted great. I will definitely be back to try a pizza.

I can’t seem to get enough of this pizza. Tons of crispy pepperoni on a thin crust cut in convenient pieces makes this one of the best pizzas for the money. Is it gourmet? Not exactly. Is it delicious? — you bet!

The best pizza, hands-down, in my opinion! I recently found out that I’m gluten-intolerant and was so disappointed knowing that I’d come home to B’ham and not be able to have Donato’s. Surprisingly, they have a GF crust option. I bought 2 pizzas — one for me to try to the GF option and 1 for everyone else. Well, all of the kids and the adults loved both options. I’m so happy! Even if the GF option wasn’t good, I’d still give them 5 star for the regular pizzas, subs, and service. It’s always been a great business, even the one in Huntsville is great.

Great pizza! Every bit as good as the original restaurants in Ohio. By far, the best pizza in Birmingham.

I read many great reviews that made me order and was sorely disappointed. The crust has a freezer burnt flavor and the onion /peppers were sliced too long which made it awkward to eat. I ordered wings which were the smallest I have ever seen, underbaked which made them slimy and to boot they shorted me two pieces! I hate ordering from chains while on the road but food like this makes me think twice about that. some good thing was the delivery man was very cool and the sausage was extremely good.

Best delivery pizza in Birmingham! All toppings are always fresh. Thin crust is my favorite but Ciabatta is also good. Subs, wings and salads are all great choices too! But their pizza is makes me forget they have other stuff. Eat in and take out are options as well.

Terrible pizza!!! The reviews below my review are false in my opinion. The sauce was terrible, and tasted like barbeque sauce, not like regular pizza sauce. The amount of cheese in the pizza was exorbitant, and the cheese blend was not good at all. The pizza crust is a thin crust, which is not a personal preference of mines. I went for the first time to Donatos because I had a free Large Cheese Pizza coupon, and I would never go back based on the quality of the pizza. Do not go here. Ever. I mean it.

Have only ordered for delivery and this is one of the best pizzas I’ve had since New York! The Margherita is amazing and so is their Asiago Bred and their Chicken Spinach! What can I say we gobble it all up. If it were allowed I’d have it for Thanksgiving! Do yourself a favor and either take out or order online, which by the way is a breeze, from this joint, you’ll be impressed.

We probably could have missed it. But we watched a flick across the street, and we were«hangry.» There’s nothing like watching a group of chaperones and middle school girls chanting«I am starving»(Chris Farley voice) come in. Oh, the joy that probably filled the cashier’s heart. The pizzas were delicious. They had a smokey, roasted flavor the the crust. We had the cheese and vegetable pizzas. The cheese was perfectly melted, and the vegetables weren’t overcooked. What was extraordinary, however, was the excellent customer service we had. Staff was friendly and made our time there an enjoyable experience. They were very sweet to the girls and even provided a «birthday cookie» to one. So take in a movie, then grab a pizza here. This is a place you don’t want to miss.

We ordered Donato’s delivery for a business meeting. Apparently the driver didn’t have a GPS and called during our meeting. I wasn’t able to answer and when I did call back to the store inquiring about the status of our delivery, the guy who answered the phone said, «Answer your phone, you piece of s**t and maybe you’d get your pizza.» Appalled, I emailed Donatos corporate and left a message for the local store management. I never received a response. As such, I suppose telling you about it is my only recourse. Don’t patronize a place that hire such angry, mean-spirited folks!

I was pretty sure I had reviewed Donatos already, but I guess not… ah well here goes! I really enjoy the pizza here. That’s all I can really say! I’m into non-chain pizza joints, but this is really good chain pizza! I’ve had almost every specialty pizza on the menu and I have nothing bad to say about any of them! Pepperoni, Founder’s Favorite, Mariachi Beef, Mariachi Chicken, Serious Meat, Hawaiian, Pepperoni Zinger, Chicken Spinach Mozzarella! Hungry yet??? Me too! All the pizzas are made as thin crust… and this isn’t a bad thing at all. You can also order as gluten free, hand tossed or with a thicker crust. Some pizzas even come with extras… Mariachi pizzas come with a side of sour cream(give it a shot)! Never had any salad, sides or desserts but I’m willing to bet they get the job done as well. Again, nothing bad to say… only good regarding Donatos Pizza!

This originally wasn’t included on my list of pizza reviews because my original trip here was years ago on a random trip to Birmingham. So to honor my more ‘important’ commitment to my growing pizza list, I decided another trip was necessary. It was worth it. Out of all the more«local» pizza chains, this is easily my favorite. Chicken Spinach Mozzarrella consisted of white meat chicken breast, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, and Romano Parmesan. You don’t feel like you’re eating pizza. You feel like you’re eating chunks of chicken with some veggies on top of a soft layer of carbs. This was such a hit that I ended up sticking my Hawaiian pizza in the fridge because this flavor completely outshined anything that the Hawaiian could have done. This is the pizza you want to get when you don’t want to feel like you gained 10 pounds of carbohydrate weight. Hawaiian: I don’t like Hawaiian because I don’t like pineapple on my pizza but the description included almonds, cinnamon, and aged provolone cheese. That struck a chord. What’s better is the aroma of cinnamon. Who would ever think that pizza had a pleasant fragrance that rivaled an edible version of a L’Occitane candle? Alone, it would have been great for the girl who has a sweet tooth. But when thrown head to head with the chicken spinach mozzarella, it’s weak. Their side of marinara sauce is warm and ready. The most evil thing about Donato’s is how they slice their pizza into«small» squares so you keep thinking that it’s ok to eat one more… and more… and more. Whoops a fourth of the whole pizza is gone. How did that happen and why I can’t fit into my pants? Refrigerator Test: 20 seconds in the microwave and it’s as good as new. Scary but satisfying!

Hubby reminisced about going to Donatos as a child and when he found out about the location in Vestavia he bookmarked it himself on my Unilocal page. A trip to Hoover ended up with a detour to Vestavia to pick up some pizzas to take home. We called it in, they said 15 – 20 min, we arrived in just under 15 min and our pizzas were ready. Yippee. We ordered a Founder’s Favorite and a Pepperoni Zinger, both on the famous thin crust. Founder’s Favorite: Pepperoni, Sausage, Ham, Hot peppers, Aged Provolone cheese –LOVED the toppings on this pizza the sausage was really flavorful the ham was the best I’ve ever had on a pizza. –Maybe a little too many hot(banana) peppers but that’s easy to pick off. –The provolone tasted better to me than the mozzarella on the pepperoni. –It also had a seasoning on top that added an extra oomph. Pepperoni Zinger: Famous Edge to Edge® pepperoni, Fresh Mozzarella, A special blend of spices for a little extra zing! –It surprisingly didn’t pop with much flavor despite all of the pepperoni and ‘extra’ spices. :-/ –The mozzarella wasn’t as good as the provolone. It wasn’t gooey like on most pizzas. PROS: –They were certainly generous with the toppings –Italian sausage and ham were very good –It was ready on time for pick up –Staff was friendly –Restaurant was clean CONS: –Sauce is almost an invisible flavor. Hubby and I agreed you could barely taste it if at all. –Thin crust didn’t taste bad I just prefer a crispier thin crust

Cool place! Nice décor, clean, friendly, and fast in serving. Pizza was good. Thin crusted, very tasty, but please don’t write everywhere around the place that the topping quality is the best! I mean, toppings are fine but the quality is very cheap. Overall a good medium-quality pizza. Appropriate for thin crust pizza lovers

I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken/spinach pizza. This has to be one of the best pizza places I’ve dined at in awhile. I favor the local joints, but decided to go with a chain for less chaos with Friday night diners. Definitely a perfect ratio of toppings to crust. Often times than not, there is way too much crust(breading) on pizza. I like crispy foods & pizza is no different. They get a double thumbs up from me & a returned business. This for sure make for happy eats!

They get 5 stars even though they BROKEMYHEART on memorial day. I used to be a manager for Donatos when they were here in Atlanta, My favorite job ever– by far. so on that terrible Tuesday when we were called in early and told we no longer had jobs, we were all crushed. So every year I make a bi annual trip to the nearest Donatos, which is either Birmingham, or Charlotte, depending one what time of year it is. Jim Grote usually emails or mails me coupons as a thank you, which i think is above and beyond. For the Spring trip we were already heading to Memphis for the holiday weekend and decided it would make the most sense to stop on the way home so i could bring back pizza for the family. To be on the safe side I did call the Birmingham location on Sunday to make sure they would be open, HOWEVER the gentleman on the line FAILED to tell me they didn’t open until 4PM. So 230 we roll into Birmingham, after a car ride from Memphis of me telling the entire car how amazing and delicious and mouthwatering the pizza is they are about to eat… only to roll up and get out and open the door and the place is dark, ovens are not on and not a sole in sight, I saw the rugs were still up so i knew something was off… Mom and I walked back to the door and saw a small note saying YESWEOPENAT4 :(:(:(:(. I walked back in to see if i could explain the situation but after calling out twice decided i didn’t want to get into trouble… so we went next door to firehouse and got drinks and cookies to try and drown my sorrows… Keep in mind… I live in Atlanta and Birmingham is a 3 hour drive… Charlotte is a 4 hour drive. I stupidly love this place and its pizza, and it was a big big bummer to see they were closed … i couldn’t believe the dude failed to mention they LATEOPENING when i called. No bueno. I dont know if the spring visit will be revisited or re attempted, it may just have to wait to the fall when w go to the zoo and gardens too… but that s a LONG time to wait for some damn good pizza :(

I have literally not been to this place for years… Way before Unilocal!ever existed. I used to get the Big Ham and Cheese sandwich. I got this again years later and it tasted just the same. DELICIOUS! Anyway, don’t expect anything revolutionary about this sandwich or this place, just expect good food and normal pizza prices. The boneless wings were not that great. I don’t know what it want but they seemed obviously cooked from frozen and lacking a lot of the buffalo sauce. There was not much sauce on them at all.
