We go to the Daily Grille often, as it is so close to the Round House Theater where we have a subscription. Our last experience was really bad. The service was terrible. The waiter started off by telling us how he was out of it — working on 4 hours of sleep. He had a hard time taking our order and couldn’t remember the accompaniments to dishes, etc. Our visit was on Valentine’s Day. I asked for a Kir Royale as a fun drink for the holiday. The waiter had never heard of this drink and the bartender clearly hadnt either. I ended up with a glass of champagne with no cassis or any other liqueur. Very strange! Our food was passable, but unremarkable. The Daily Grille used to validate for valet parking. A nice perk when eating there. Now they only apply a discount on Friday/Saturday evening. The entire experience was a huge disappointment.

I stayed at Hyatt in Bethesda and went to Daily Grill twice. Each time I sat at bar and had different bartender. Both times the service was great and friendly. I had their veggie plate, mashed potatoes and few other sides. Everything was very tasty.

Food was delicious and ample portions. THEEND Service was awful. The bartender lied to me about whether or not there was a cost to add crab meat to the happy hour flatbread. He first said not to worry about it, then he conveniently cut and run — clocked out of work, and then when I got my check, they wanted to charge me $ 15 for crab meat on a $ 6 flatbread. After a heated argument with the bearded manager, he finally agreed to take it off, and had the audacity to want to shake my hand. Next time I get a birthday coupon from Daily Grill I will go into DC/Georgetown, because based on that experience, and the other reviews on Unilocal, this location needs to go in the same direction as the one at Tysons Corner. CLOSED. I refuse to patronize a business where the management, much less the staff, cannot treat its customers with courtesy and respect.

Staying in the hotel and came for breakfast. My waiter was unattentive, I had to ask for something to drink and his overall demeanor wasn’t pleasant at all.

This place deserves 0 stars. Remember SABENA Airlines? The joke was it’s an acronym for Such A Bad Experience Never Again. Well, that applies to DG. The service was exceedingly slow and amateurish. The food was bland, cafeteria-quality stomach-fill. The portions were too large. The kale Caesar salad was overpowered by anchovy and garlic. The Mahi-Mahi was near tasteless and mushy. This was a Thanksgiving prix fixe for $ 40/person. It was worth half that much. Yuck.

The staff was very understanding of my rush to get to a work conference in the morning and prepared my food very quickly. I got a bagel with lox, onions, cream cheese, and capers — good but nothing to write home about and pricey at that(I think it came out to about $ 12).

I had to update my review due to Alec’s superb service during my gal pal’s birthday lunch! We opted to eat in the bar area… after my 3 attempts to get her to sit on the patio failed, SMH. As the 3 of us walked in, Alec the Bartender greeted us & asked us if we would be dining in for lunch. After we gave a yes, he stated we could sit at our preference & as soon as we sat, there he was. He started with our drink selections, asked if we were interested in appetizers to start us off & we let him know that was our M.O. today for the quick celebratory outing. He offered some suggestions, I chimed in to let him know it was our gal pal’s birthday & he gave her a huge & welcoming greeting… nice extra touch of his table service. Our order as follows: Me: Hummus, that was sprinkled with za’atar(vegan friendly), served with grilled flat bread and cucumbers. Alec actually circled back to let me know that the Flatbread is grilled on the same tops that the protein is grilled on. 1, good looking out and 2, his ability to come up with another grilling option on their Salamander Grill was a foodie A+. This was pretty good hummus, even though I asked Alec for some of his marinating olives that were sitting on the bar. To chopping I went, along with some Tabasco sauce & I was good to go. Birthday Gal: Seared Rare Ahi Tuna, accompanied with pickled cucumbers, fried spinach, wasabi, pickled ginger & soy sauce. She wanted Shrimp Cocktail, no luck as it was no longer on the menu. She went for the Popcorn Shrimp. After a few minutes, she changed her mind again & asked for a piece of salmon grilled medium well & was finally content. Thanks Alec for being such a team player! Gal Pal: Kale Caesar, a mixture of romaine and kale, tossed in their signature Caesar dressing… she nibbled on all the goodies at the table though. We all enjoyed partaking in our culinary selections & had a fun midday lunch outing to celebrate a birthday. & for her birthday, she got a free dessert… a big scoop of ice cream with a brownie & candle on top. Oh Alec, you rock star for orchestrating that. To top our day off, Alec was kind enough to be the photo taker of our festive breaking of the food. Alec’s service really made the celebration more enjoyable. We all got excited when he must have overhead me state that their Monday Night Football Happy Hours are a big hit, as he popped his head outside the patio door to let us know to come on back as he’ll be more than happy to service us again. Alec we look forward to the Happy Hour specials & your awesome sauce of serving skills.

I had a wonderful salad nicoisse here, and terrific key lime pie. The tuna was perfectly prepared. The people were friendly and it was a great dinner. For a restaurant in a hotel, this was excellent.

Benn here many times as mutual fund wholesalers take us here for lunch from work. Have to admit that everything is «ok»… The bar is fine, although I’m not a fan of my gin & tonic with a single HUGE ice cube. I like it like it’s normally made, with a lot of single cubes! The portions are generous, but meh? Nothing is spectacular, but nothing is horrible either. The burgers are good, the chicken is so-so, the pasta«tries too hard» to be special, but again… meh? Good location, right next to the Bethesda Metro station, but parking is somewhat of a challenge as you’ll have to park in the Hilton Hotel parking garage.

Do NOT go here. The service sucks! Thirty minutes to get a drink at the bar. Outside service was even worse. Flat drinks, and the food is not worth it at all. Worst experience ever

Went there for lunch few weeks ago. Service was great and the food was excellent. The place is a little pricy but the price is justified by quality and portions are quite big. I had salmon and it was the best salmon I’ve ever had. Absolutely delish! I’ll will be back.

The service(Randy) was epic. The food was pretty awful. Worst Manhattan clam chowder I’ve ever had. Couldn’t finish a cup of it. Worst Ahi tacos ever. The IPA was good. For that(two appetizers and a draft beer) I left $ 35 poorer. Yeah, I should have heeded the couple demanding to see the manager when I walked in…

I was surprised to see this Daily Grill with such a low rating– i went to the one in Georgetown and had fantastic service and a delicious bagel and lox. My SO was craving some B&L so I suggested Daily Grill and went to the one closer to our home. While in the car, we were reading the Unilocal reviews and we initially dismissed it as pretentious people who want perfection because Bethesda attracts that kind of crowd. The longer we were at this restaurant, the more apparent it became to us exactly why no one likes this restaurant. First of all, we came in around 11am during«brunch” — anyone who’s lived in the area long enough knows that every semi-decent brunch place is PACKED during said brunch. This place was dead empty. The SO ordered the aforementioned bagel and lox, I had the grilled lime chicken salad, along with two coffees. I asked for my dressing on the side. The brunch item comes with complimentary monkey bread, we obliged. That was the highlight of our meal– this 1000 or so calorie slice of monkey bread was bomb-diggity. Perfectly warm, moist, and a good bit of salt to balance out the sweetness. Our coffee was pretty good too so at that point, I was thinking«The food is good, this is at least 4 stars!» So when our entrees came out along with the subsequent service thereafter is why my 4-star opinion slid down to a two. My salad was a hot mess. To preface this rant against the salad the description of this salad reads«mixed greens with lime chicken, asparagus, chopped vegetables, tomatoes, avocado, fennel and corn with citrus vinaigrette». Whatever I received was definitely not that. My dressing was not on the side as I requested. I received a slimy, wilty, over-dressed lukewarm salad which is exactly why I hate pre-dressed salads. This was made with cruddy yellow romaine lettuce, not mixed greens. No asparagus in sight. And whatever«citrus» element there was supposed to be is non-existent, I forgot what type of salad I ordered until I googled it again. Sad, greasy, rubbery, pieces of sauteed vegetables in this beige color characteristic of something just sadly pushed around a sautee pan in too much oil and not enough heat. My «healthy» little salad left a nice yellow grease slick on the bottom of the plate. The flavors were just underwhelming and I am ashamed that I paid 14 dollars for a salad. I ended up picking out all the little veg bits because they were so unappetizing(and I tend to eat anything!) The SO’s B&L was as good as I remembered(not AS good but still good) but jesus, that salad was so terrible. We kind of felt like we were pulling teeth here with the lackluster service. We had to request just about everything that would have automatically came to the table at any other semi-decent restaurant(water, creamer for the coffee, more coffee, etc.) If it was busy, I understand, but we were one of two tables in our server’s section. This place just had this sad, apathetic climate that is just incredibly unappealing and despite fantastic monkey bread and bagel and lox, I am hard-pressed to return. Long story short, stick to the Georgetown location.

I can’t say that I was thrilled with Daily Grill because this was my first visit, and my server Erick was not very attentive he came over and took my order then disappeared. He never came back to see if I needed anything, I had to flag down another worker to get a refill on iced tea. I had noticed a lady had asked him to set up some tables outside because she was meeting some people for happy hour, I mean I understand that you have other tables but I just felt like he forgot about me. He did not do a very good job, I got a burger cooked well done and it was very pink he did not listen when I told him well done. The only good thing about the meal were the fries and the brownie dessert. I left him a $ 2 tip and I will not be coming back here again. I was observing the staff @ the bar and they seemed to be socializing and not doing their job. :(

Came for lunch because of the location and because of the fact they take reservations. The service was pretty bad– still waiting for that glass of water but the kitchen made up for the lackluster service– the seared ahi tuna salad is incredible and I would absolutely go back for that.

Gave it another chance and have officially proclaimed never again. I went for brunch at 11 a.m. with my son and two grandchildren, ages 5 and 2. We were greeted at the door of an empty restaurant with the question of whether we wanted to sit in the bar. With two youngsters, we wanted to sit in one of about 50 booths that were empty. After being seated, the server took our order and then the very bad service commenced. My son ordered a Coke, which after two reminders appeared. I ordered rye toast with my eggs and when the order came, the server told me they were out of rye… so she suggested multi-grain. That was fine with me but it never came. After finishing the meal, my son had to find anyone, who turned out to be the original greeter, to order the hot fudge sundaes that came with the kids’ meals because the server never came back. When I asked if the table could be cleared of the dirty dishes by our server, I was told she was in the bathroom. Eventually, one dish of ice cream, no fudge, came but we had two kids’ meals. By then, we gave up and got out. It’s a shame that a restaurant with no customers could have no service for the one table that showed up. I repeat, NEVERAGAIN.

I came here for lunch twice while I was attending a meeting nearby. I had the Cobb salad on one occasion and the blackened ahi tuna salad on another visit. The Cobb salad was good, but I wish that the chicken had more flavor. The cheese, avocado and bacon that were in the salad were good. The next time I visited I had the blackened ahi tuna salad and that was outstanding! The salad came with fresh ahi tuna that had a nice pepper seasoning, green beans, toasted almonds and a ginger dressing. I will definitely return for the ahi tuna salad. I sat at the bar both times and the service was quick and attentive. No complaints here. This place is frequently visited since it’s in the Hyatt which has tons of visitors.
