I wanted to try something different as inside the food court has almost the same thing as any mall food court. Similar concept as Chipotle but only better. I got a small bowl. First you pick your base, I’m not a huge rice fan so I choose the soft clear noodles, then I choose chicken as my protein, I choose my 4 sides to be mixed in; spring onions, bean sprouts, kimchi and shiitake mushrooms and their Korean hot sauce. It’s then thrown in on the grill or I thought. When I finally had a chance to eat it wasn’t hot and the chicken was kind of dry even though the owner said everything is fresh and made to order. Maybe the pre cooked chicken sat in the warmer too long. Im not a fan of brown biodegradable bowls they served it in. I know it’s better for the environment but it’s not sturdy. My food was good the hot sauce and kimchi saved my bowl from hitting the trash can. I don’t like food that’s suppose to be hot almost cold and dry chicken. I am going to give this another shot as they have other things on the menu that I want try like, Korean tacos, hot wings and Korean burritos.

A coworker and I frequent Montgomery Mall’s food court on a weekly basis. and somehow managed to miss this new spot because of its sort-of hidden location. Tried it out and really enjoyed it. The price was reasonable, the people taking the order were super friendly, and the concept was cool. Assembly line, chipotle-esque type of deal. I got chopchae with beef topped with the sweet sauce and just got kimchi. The beef was a little on the salty side, but it was really good. Going back today!

BBOPQ is another fast-casual place that just opened up in the mall by the food court. Here, you make your own bibimbap bowl. A small bowl has 4 veggies and a regular bowl has 6. Maybe I didn’t pick the tastiest ingredients for my bowl, but I wasn’t too impressed with the food. In my bowl, I had white rice, shitake mushrooms, lettuce, KSlaw, spring onions, and beef with the K-Style(Sesame soy) sauce. The sauce was too light and the whole bowl was bland. The beef was overcooked and dry. The other sauce option was the Signature, which is spicy. I doubt it would have made the bowl any better. I ate half of my bowl and gave the rest to a friend. Avoid the dumplings. They are deep fried potstickers with very little meat. Cheap grocery store quality. If you want dumplings, go on over to Shanghai Bao Kitchen for them. They also tacos and chicken wings, which I have yet to try. Unlike Chipotle and other fast casual restaurants where you go down an assembly line to make your bowl and then pay, BBOPQ is opposite. Here, you pay first and then make your bowl. I was a little confused at first.

Wow — what do you get if Chipotle opened a branch in Seoul? Choose your starch(white rice, brown rice, or bibimbap buckwheat noodles), add a protein(chicken, beef, or soy nuggets), thrown in six forkfuls of vegetation, cover it with your choice of sauce(s)(Korean gochujang, lime crema, or Sriracha) and BINGO! Or you can do the same with their mini-tacos, but keep in mind that those little tortillas aren’t going to be able to contain much, so I’d recommend a wrap(Korean burrito) or a rice or noodle bowl. Food is fresh and flavorful, and ask for extra sauce, as the proteins themselves seemed to be on the bland side.

This place was excellent. I would highly recommend the rice bowls. I got the brown rice bowl with beef and signature sauce and broccoli, shitake mushrooms, bean sprouts, cabbage kimchi, cucumber kimchi and white kimchi. The bowl was very flavorful and fresh but not too spicy. I might try something instead of the shitake mushrooms next time though because they were very plain tasting. The chop chae noodle bowl was also excellent. I will definitely be back!

I got the 2 taco and soda meal. I opted for tofu because I wasn’t in a meat eating mood that day. The veggies and the sauces they have are absolutely delicious! You can pick the veggies from the large number of the veggie topping options. The only downfall of the taco was the tofu — there was absolutely no flavor — extremely disappointing, some salt or spices would have been great. Next time, I’ll have to try to meat — the grilled chicken was grilled fresh in the back, and looked so good.

This place doesn’t have a traditional Korean bibimbap but it’s more of a fushion– bibimbap in cava style. I had a beef bibimbap with their spicy sauce and creamy sauce which reminded me of cava. I like how you can choose what goes in the mixture of goodies. I also tried their wings and surprisingly, it was really good. I got the non spicy ones and spicy ones and they were both crispy and saucy.

So happy I decided to try this place out! I got a bowl with chop chae, chicken, and various fresh veggies topped off with k-style sauce. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the savory chicken was the best part of the meal. This is a healthier alternative to many of the other food options at Montgomery Mall.

Interesting and new! This is a Korean fusion restaurant(BBOPQ being a mixture of bibimbab and BBQ) and you can get either chicken wings, burritos, tacos, or a bowl. My personal favorite is the bowl with brown rice, chicken, kimchi, kimchi cucumbers, green onions, radishes, red peppers, k-slaw, and finished off with a mixture of signature citrus and the spicy signature sauce. If you’re tired of eating the same old thing over and over again and need a change you’re just looking for something healthy to try, I would highly recommend this place. They have a very friendly and accommodating staff!

I love this place! Great quick bite and it tastes amazing. I would not even call it fast food. Beef is the best with signature sauce!

A Korean fast casual place like Chipotle and Cava Mezze Grille. I love bimbimbap, and if you get the rice bowl it resembles it a lot. The beef is cooked in a grill but comes out a little dried out– needs more juices or marinade. I did like the chicken more. You get to choose six veggies toppings if you order the regular size bowl. I do like the hot sauce. But I think what is missing is some sesame oil and a fried egg and seaweed. It is a little dried out when you mix it all in and I feel adding sesame oil would help out a lot. Also, I would offer a salad bowl as well for those trying to skip the carbs. It would attract more people. The fried chicken was pretty good and had a decent crunch, but don’t expect it to be Bön Chon quality. That requires double frying and would take too long in a food court. I am happy to see a Korean fast casual place at the mall.

I love korean food. I love chipotle. BBOPQ brings both of these loves together. Saw this place right as it was being constructed and knew I had to be one of the first to try it. and I was not dissappointed. Ordered the bowl with brown rice, extra chicken, picked radishes, pickled cucumbers, coleslaw, scallions, mushrooms with the signature sauce. Bomb dot comb. The rice was sweet, chicken was tender and flavorful, the pickled veggies added a nice light sweet element to it, and the signature sauce brought it all together. I’d say my favorite part was that sauce. Overall, «a healthy version of chipotle» as my friend put it. For the price, you get a boat load of food. Definitely gonna be a repeat customer.

Finally a Korean fushion place inside Montgomery Mall: D So refreshing and original. You guys all need to check this place out!!! Fresh ingredients, meat grilled to order, affordable prices, excellent service, and of course DELICIOUS! The best part about this place is that you can customize your meal! There are different bases for your bowl(white rice, brown rice, chop chae/noodles), and then you pick your vegetables, protein and flavor at the end! If you’re not feeling a bowl, you can also make a taco/burrito. I’ve tried the beef bibimbap bowl with the vegetables and oh man, I was highly impressed. The dumplings and wings were SO good! Really flavorful and juicy :) Next time you’re at the mall, please try out this place! You will not regret :) Looking forward to my next visit!

Everyone loves a quick meal that you can customize. If you’re looking for something on the healthier side for fast food, and something quick and yummy, definitely try out BBOPQ! As everyone said, this is a lot like«Korean Chipotle» or Shophouse. The food seemed very fresh and high-quality too. There are options for both vegetarians and meat lovers, and it’s extremely affordable! Definitely give it a try.

To all my Koreans/Korean-food loving people: Having eaten Korean food my whole life, I’m pretty accustomed to the traditional tastes that our cuisine offers. BBopQ offers us a slightly different take on our beloved bibimbap, with sweet and spicy variations of sauces and interesting ingredients like coleslaw and salsa. Getting it in a burrito provides an even more unique fusion-taste. Especially at around $ 6, it’s a cheap/delicious choice. To my non-Koreans: It is an appealing way to try new cuisine in the comfort of the familiar«chipotle-style”-format. You choose bowl or burrito, the type of rice, meat choice, a few vegetables, and you’re set! If you don’t know which side vegetables to get, asking the staff will do you just fine. It is just under the price of chipotle or qdoba, I highly recommend you try a bowl!

Let me keep it short and to the point. This place is LIT! LITerally. *slaps on knee* They cook their meat over an open fire! Not to mention that it’s delicious! Hey BBOPQ! I’ll b-back-q…I’ll see myself out

If you’re looking for something healthy, fast and delicious, this is the spot! I would describe this place as a Korean Chipotle. My husband and I got rice bowls with chicken and brown rice and each picked different veggies. The combination of perfectly grilled and juicy meat and freshly marinated veggies were so flavorful and delicious. The employees were super friendly to describe the difference between ingredients and sauces.

I was able to go and check this place out, and was thoroughly impressed with the experience and concept considering all things. First, the good. The concept is new and refreshing. It is like Chipotle, but think bibimbap. Rice bowl with your choice of Korean-style veggies, sauces, and your choice of meat. The«fusion» aspect of this is found in their offerings of tacos and burritos. So, essentially bibipbap but in taco shells and tortillas, an idea which I am a fan of. Their wings are also great, and reminds me a little of BonChon, but a little sweeter and a little less spicy, depending on which flavor/sauce combination you opt for. The«new restaurant» jitters were very apparent during my visit. Service was a little slow and there was some minor confusion in the kitchen, but this should not deter anyone from visiting. These small hiccups should be expected with new ventures like BBOPQ and is part of the growing process for any new business. Prices are exceptionally reasonable. I know for a fact that renting a space in the mall is not cheap, so I appreciate the fact that they were able to keep their prices at a reasonable rate considering that. 10 piece wings were $ 7.99, and if memory serves me right, burritos were $ 5 and some change, edging $ 6. It is a really good value. Their location in the mall is not ideal, which so far is the only con for me. They are situated near the tail end of the food court, near Macy’s Home, and can be easily overlooked if you are not aware that they exist in that corner. For that reason, I was compelled to write this review as means to get the word out that, yes, this is a place worth visiting. If you are looking for Korean fusion, stop by next time you are at Montgomery Mall.

Korean food has found its place in the chipotle world! It’s a little removed from the food court bustle(next to Macy’s Home) but that gives it more of a restaurant feel to me. I also love how they have large windows on the side so you can take a peek at how the magic is made. There are 2 bowl sizes(nice change), tacos and wraps. I got the a regular bowl with white rice, half chicken, half beef, lettuce, k-slaw, cabbage kimchi, pickled daikon(yum!), green bell peppers, another veggie I can’t remember, signature spicy sauce(gochujang), and lime crema sauce. Everything is grilled to order so the proteins are nice and fresh. SO good. Like any chipotle-style restaurant, what you put in is what you get out – so you might need to figure out what works for you. Luckily, the individual ingredients are delish so «what works for you» comes down to personal preference, not quality of food. Keep in mind that this is a fast food Korean fusion restaurant so anyone who’s looking for an authentic bibimbap experience may be a little disappointed. They’re still figuring out the tricks of the trade so speed and consistency is a factor right now but I’m sure that will get resolved in the near future. All in all… I LOVE this place and I think I’ll find myself at Montgomery Mall a little more than I should. Thanks, BBOPQ ;)
