The falafel and the deluxe falafel are excellent, delicious, almost the perfect lunch. The fries are good. The veggie burger is all right. I love the fact that the vegan menu items are labeled as such. The smoothies are really watery and not very good. I always order to go, but even if I didn’t want to order to go, I would, because it’s not pleasant spending time in here, the workers’ niceness notwithstanding.

I love this Gyro! I get the cravings for this place weekly. I have the Original Lamb Gyro with hot sauce on the side and a couple of cold dolmas. Such good flavor! I take it to go eat in the break room where I work nearby. I eat the dolmas out of a cup with a fork like a tasty little appetizer as I cross the street. Yummy. When I get to the break room, I spread the gyro out and eat it like a giant meat salad! Fork and knife, dipping into the hot sauce for a quick explosion of heat. Bam! So good. The meat is flavorful, the sauce creamy, fresh veggies, and the pita bread is fresh warm and soft. One time my girlfriend ordered a chicken gyro. I was not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was. Nice shredded chicken with a different sauce. Very impressed. Over the winter break, the place shut down for a while so I had to try the Mediterranean place around the corner. No thanks! I don’t know what it was, but it wasn’t a gyro. I’m super happy that«King of Gyro» is back. I know what I’m getting for lunch tomorrow! :)

The oil dripping out of the paper bag before I removed the lamb gyro was a sign of things to leak from this failed lunch. The lamb filling was like chunks of meat-loaf without the seasonings, barely cooked adequately. Also small flecks of bone or egg-shell was present throughout, in addition to the stray hair. Structural integrity is an important feature of any take-out food type. A bad combination of fatty undrained processed meat, oily tahini sauce, wet cucumber and soft pita bread led to a disastrous gyro prolapse. As the fatty oil dripped onto my fingers and congealed on my hands I realized there was no happy ending. Gone is my desire for food, as I sit here with the mildly nauseous smell still lingering around my mouth. This community service announcement did come at a modest price: $ 5.95 + tax + tip for a life-changing experience. Use only as a benchmark for bad food around Berkeley. Hopefully the memories will fade like the congealed puddle of leaked oils and fat on the pavement eagerly licked unknowingly by cholesterol doomed squirrels.

I’ve had falafel here twice and don’t find it too bad, apart from being messy which is okay really. That being said, the negative reviewers must surely have a point. However, a thumbs up from me.

The menu looks like you have a lot to chose from but actually it’s just a combination trick. Whatever you order, you kinda get the same kind of thing I think. I got a falafel wrap… it was just me, and the lady made it in front of me. She just wrapped everything together… no the falafels were not heated up… so, it was a cold and dry wrap :(

I love a good gyro. Even a nontraditional one. This is not it. The lamb tastes wrong and the sauce is bad. Lavosh it’s wrapped in is not so great either. Especially not for $ 6.95.

This small, unpreposessing café has no clue about vegan food. The menu offers a «vegan platter,» consisting of hummus, falafel, salad, pita, and dolmas. After ordering this«to go», I noticed that the cook was warming my pita on the same grill where a bunch of chicken breasts were sizzling. I objected, and the cook replied that the grill was«dry. » I insisted that he give me a cold pita to take home, which he did… but he put my dolmas on that same grill with the chicken breasts! Even apart from the vegan issues, the food was utterly mediocre.

Dude— totally gross. I guess I was expecting like grilled chicken & not some chicken stew. It tasted acidy, so I’m thinking the tsasiki sauce may not have been fresh. Waste of my money, for the $ 6. The bread was good, though, but that’s about it.

looking for a snack while starving, my cousin and I stopped in at Mediterranean Wraps to grab some greek food. We were totally excited for Gyros and Falafels. After walking in ordering, we were kind of irritated because there was only one guy working. He took our order, went to cook our food, then came back to let us pay. The problem with this, was that it took almost 15 minutes for us to pay and get our food. This was not exciting whatsoever since we were so hungry. On top of that, the food here is really okay. My falafel sandwich was sort of bland, and the falafels tasted like they were frozen or something. Overall, just tasted like a Greek fast food place to me.

My love for chicken in pita bread drove me to Mediterranean Wraps. After ordering a chicken gyros, I sat outside where I watched a homeless lady preach at a teenager about how she shouldn’t go to Cal. It was pretty delightful. Little did I know that would be the highlight of my dinner. I was unimpressed with the dish, as I tasted more mustard than chicken or tzatziki sauce. There was also no side, although I didn’t see where I had the option to order anything.(I think that’s just about the only time I’ve eaten a gyros without any rice or salad.) In the restaurant I noticed they had a rack of potato chips, so maybe I was supposed to buy chips. Either way, I didn’t get a lot for my money, and wasn’t into the sauces. I’ve had better, but I’m sure I’ve also had worse. While wandering around Berkeley today I was bummed that I didn’t check out Unilocal before dinnertime so that I could make a more educated decision with the restaurant I picked. Next time I’ll be more prepared.

In my eternal search to find the best Gyro in the Bay Area I found myself at Mediterranean Wraps in Berkeley. Nice whole in the wall place like where you usually find the best Gyros, Doner Sandwiches, and anything made from lamb, beef, or chicken on a spit haha… I ordered a Gyro of course. Came up hot and in a nice little paper holder that did well at cathcing all the usual juices, yogurt sauce, and extra bits. Yogurt sauce was good, lamb and beef from the spit was ok, fresh tomatoe and onion were nice. Pita bread… hmmm… realy fell short here. Pita was cold and dry. It should be warm and moist. Don’t think I will go back unless I am really desperate for a gyro in Berkeley :)
