Food was great but my bill came to $ 8.60 for the falafel. I wrote the amount down on my ledger but I failed to keep my receipt. So I was surprised when I checked my bank account the following day and found out they charged me 12.00. I guess they decided to add a nice tip to my total. It was my fault, I should have completed the bottom portion of the slip but I have never done this in the past and no one has ever taken advantage of me like this. Lesson learned! Just found my receipt! I will be going to my bank today to get this charge corrected.

Best shawarma in the east bay! Definitely my go to Mediterranean joint. Everywhere else tries too hard… They stick to the classics

BADBUSINESSPRACTICE. My first time here today for lunch with my boyfriend on Monday 5⁄16. Found the place walking around the area and decided to give it a shot. I ordered the Mix Kabob Plate($ 16.99) and Greek Salad($ 7.99) and two bottles of water. The girl at the counter wearing the Hijab charged me for 3 bottles of water and denied it. I said only ordered 2 bottles, and she said«Yes, I charged you for 2.» She insisted several times she only charged me for 2. But the order screen said 3. Yes, she charged me for 3! I had her review the order again on the register and then she decided she was wrong. Then she handed me $ 1.00 and said«Next in line.» At this moment after she tried to rip me off with the refund, I sincerely told her that the water bottle she charged me was $ 1.75. Again, she insisted that her refund of $ 1.00 was correct. I said«Please check your screen again. You charged me $ 1.75. The screen on the register says $ 1.75». I’m not the kind to argue over $ 0.75, but it wasn’t about the money, it was more about the moral and honesty of business practices. After a few minutes she decided she was wrong and gave me the additional $ 0.75. And food wasn’t even that good. Greek Salad had way too much dressing on it. And the Mix Kabob was just okay. Had better food at the mall.

First, expect to tee off one star right off the geen. Oasis is authentic… But the way that the food is sold leaves significant room for growth. However, I must also begin with the argument that their staff is incredibly friendly. I’ve never had a bad experience here with respect to any one coming off as annoyed or condescending. The redacted fifth Unilocal star is primarily with respect to their prices. Their prices are high enough to leave you feeling disappointed that your dollar didn’t go very far. Although their portions are generous(and they are very generous with size!), the quality is not. Right when they open, it’s great. Go for it. Still a little pricey, but it tastes fantastic. The same method applies if you choose to go during a very busy period where they are constantly cooking and replenishing the ingredients. The bread is deliciously chewy, the meat is warm and seasoned, as well as tender, and the veggies still have a nice fresh crunch to them. However, if you are unfortunate enough to visit Oasis during slow periods(or later in the day), the meat is often tough and dry, the bread falls apart, and the veggies are fairly undesirable. You know what I’m talking about. It’s not«bad meat» per se; it’s more with respect that you are just eating old food, and you can taste it. I think that is worth another redacted star. I’m also not certain that their prices are always accurate. I don’t try to split hairs or argue, but their chicken shawarma, for example, says that its $ 8.49. However, every time I get one it’s usually ten+ bucks. I’m also irritated that you would expect the wrap to come with hummus in it, however it does not. If you want a shwarma which includes hummus, the price is $ 10.90! Plus tax(eek). Starts to run into $ 13 ballpark. I’m not suggesting anything illegal, it’s more of a slide of the hand game. For example, their menu offers very basic elements that would be fairly terrible or frankly boring on their own, but awesome with the additions(like the hummus example above). In short, needed additions are o u t r a g e o u s l y gouging. So let’s recap: (1) Super friendly people. (2) Great if you happen to go when they first open and just stick to the fundamentals of the menu. (3) If you want a decent meal, expect to pay a lot for it. (4) If you happen to go during a slower time, expect the prices to be the same, but the food to be at a lower quality.

If you’re loaded and have the munchies and you want something healthy/vegetarian friendly(or vegan ask for no cheese) the Mediterranean wrap melt is so fucking good! Like wow! The size of the wrap is big! I think I paid a little over $ 8, definitely filled me up! The vegetables are warm and delicious, the hummus they use smack! Everything was good! I’m hella coming back.

Came here on a Thursday Night around 9:30, just before closing time according to Unilocal and Oasis Grill’s website, lights are still on and the patio furniture is still outside. I go up to the counter already knowing what i want to order, and before i open my mouth the guy at the counter looks at me and says«sorry we close.» :| I stare at him surprised and say, «but its 9:30.» Once again he replies«sorry we close.»:| I just think MOFO was being lazy and wanted to leave early, not cool dude! At least turn yo lights off and pretend to not be home. Came here a second time and finally got my falafel wrap; shoulda learned my lesson the first time around. I am pretty sure their falafels are those vegan patties made from seeds and not chick peas, mine were burnt and dry. Tahini/Yogurt sauce is more like tinted water. :| Don’t eat here.

I’m a sucker for good Mediterranean food, and I’ve tried a ton of places all over nor-cal. The chicken shawarma I had here was as good as I’ve had anywhere, as is the spicy sauce. Love the seating outside.

All I’ve ever ordered here is the Falafel Plate, which varies, but always contains falafel, hummus, and tabouleh. The food is simple, bur really spectacularly good and fresh. And the guys who work there are really friendly and pleasant. Five stars!

Not bad, but nothing about their falafel separates them from the rest of the pack.

Oasis Grill was as little store near UC Berkeley. I personally thought that the concept was comparable to Subway for mediterranean food — they had some sandwiches that were made on flatbreads right in front of the customer. I had the Chicken Shawarma that featured shawarma chicken, tahini, and some vegetables in a flatbread, and it was huge — I couldn’t(and probably will never be able to) finish the entire sandwich in one sitting. If you’re not able to eat large amounts of food at once, I would recommend getting a sandwich and splitting it with a friend, because the to-go sandwiches get soggy after a while because of the sauce. The sandwich itself was about $ 10, so it was a pretty good deal for that large of a sandwich. I wish they had one in Arizona so that I can get their sandwiches more often. I love mediterranean food and sandwiches, so Oasis Grill has a great concept!

I hate writing this review. This was a go to lunch spot for me. What I’m writing has nothing to do with the food, it’s entirely for their business practice. Ordered a gyro wrap, sign behind the grill says $ 8.49, when I go to pay I’m told it’s $ 10.94. No I say, just a Gyro. He tells me there’s tax. I say«Yes, $ 8.49 + 9.5% is still less than $ 10.00.» I’m told the price went up. The price is on the wall in two places, $ 8.49, The price is on their laminated menus, $ 8.49. The price is on their paper carryout menus, $ 8.49. He says the price went up, they just haven’t had time to change those things. Besides being dishonest and a very poor business practice, it’s illegal. You change all the other things first, then the price. Their falafel is great.. . I’m going to miss it.

Yum yum yum — I loved the gyros wrap at this place. I like it on the lavash as it’s a bit less bread and the gyros and other items really shine. Very generous portion on the meat and fillings, delicious yogurt sauce and get it spicy, the Sriacha gives it a nice kick. Friendly folks behind the counter and my order was up in a jiff.

They make the best(and some of the biggest) falafel wraps in all of Berkeley! Their tahini sauce cannot be topped. Also, my non-vegetarian friends rave about their chicken shawarma wraps. And service is always super friendly. My only complaint is that sometimes their wraps are on the dry side and could use some more of their amazing tahini sauce.

Average Mediterranean place. Nice central location on Center Street. Tables outside are cozy and great for small groups. We only ordered small fries here but we were satisfied with our order. Quick turnaround! Fries came out within 7 minutes of ordering. The workers are super friendly — always a plus.

I’m writing this review while eating! We ordered shish tauok plate and it’s amazing. Well balanced flavours. Happy with my meal. They have outdoor seating but we couldn’t find a table as they are full. Scored a free pita bread though :)

This place is located right on Center street(closer to Shattuck). It’s really small and easy to miss but I promise it’s worth the stop! I think this place has some of the best Mediterranean food in the area. While it is a bit on the pricier side, it is all freshly made and quickly made as well! The beef shawarma plate comes with plenty of food; you get a large helping of hummus, pita, rice, and salad along with a bunch of meat. Most places skimp on the meat but not Oasis! The chicken shawarma wrap is also very good. Sometimes the chicken is on the drier side but ask for tahini and it tastes great. However, just be careful around lunch time. This place gets packed with students from Berkeley high.

SPECIALTY — FALAFEL In the Spain episode of «No Reservations» Anthony Bourdain talked about the Basque restaurant Asador Extebarri as a specialty place because it does one thing great — grilling food. The term specialty also refers to this eatery. There are several items at this restaurant but I come here for one item — falafel wrap. My introduction to this eatery came about three years ago when after a Cal football game I was heading towards the Bart station. As walked towards this place someone from this eatery was giving away free samples of freshly fried falafel. I took a bite and I was hooked. Apparently during that time it was the grand opening. I knew I had to come here again for the falafel. The first time I ate at this restaurant I ordered the falafel wrap. I was totally addicted to this item. Ever since then when I come here I always ordered the falafel wrap. What makes the falafel wrap addicting? First the falafels as mentioned before are freshly fried. I’ve had falafels in the past where they’re cold and stale. At Oasis Grill I love the breaded crunchy texture of the falafel. You would think since the falafels are deep fried that they would be heavy but they’re not. Also I the wrap is lightly toasted over the burner. This makes the wrap light yet has a slight crunch as a panini. Inside the wrap the yogurt binds together the fresh vegetables. Overall this dish is hearty because it’ll make you full. Anthony Bourdain said it best that he would like vegetarian dishes if people really knew how to make vegetables tasty. Well this vegetarian item is delicious. I believe if he had this item at Oasis Grill he would love it also. I admit I’m a carnivore at heart and not too fond of vegetarian dishes as the vegetables tend to be overcooked or mushy. I’ll go on record by saying this is the best vegetarian dish I ever had. I’ve had other items at Oasis Grill but nothing compares to what I believe is their specialty — the falafels.
