Blueprint LSAT Preparation

This company has the LSAT figured out. I did research on many LSAT companies out there and I’m glad I chose Blueprint. If you’re considering law school check out Law School Podcaster (iTunes and it’s free). It has a ton of podcast discussing everything you’ll want to know about what to expect surround law school. One of those subjects is the LSAT.
Matt Riley is one of the guest speakers on this podcast who offers sound advice for the LSAT. I didn’t realize who he was until after I signed up for the class but this helped me establish another layer of credibility.
The LSAT is similar to learning a new skill. I say skill specifically because unlike knowledge, you have to practice to enhance a skill. You get the knowledge in class. The skill comes from the drills and practice questions at home. What makes the difference between trying to do this on your own and a class? With the class and online materials, you receive detailed information as to why each answer is right or wrong. You also can put together a detail plan to help in the areas you choose.
Could a person figure all this out on your own? You sure could. It will take time and you will be piecing a lot of free content out there to help you but enevitably, it may cost you more in time then making the investment.
I’m glad I paid for the class even though it’s defiantly a sacrifice. Even if I don’t take the LSAT right away, I have the structure to now practice on my own. The online course is adequate enough as well by the way. I’ve never seen an online course be so detailed and extensive. If I could go back I’d still do the class because it’s a great compliment to the online course but if I choose the online course instead I’d be ok.
If you are working and attending school full time, be wary. You need more time outside of the class then inside the class to practice. I’m full time student and employee and it’s killing me. Looking back I would have either taken the semester off or quit my job or both. It’s that deep.
It’s not Blueprints fault though. The LSAT is just designed that way. They are providing adequate coverage for what is an intense test.
Aaron (LSAT instructor at Berkeley) is great. Cool, down to earth guy who is really smart and helpful. You’ll certainly have to pay attention to keep up. It has to be a tough gig to train for the LSAT it’s clear he enjoys what he does.

Blueprint is awesome! Aaron’s a great teacher who definitely keeps us engaged throughout the entire 4 hour class and teaches us a lot. I feel like my skills definitely improved with Blueprint. Would recommend taking it with Aaron – he also got a 180 himself and is a LSAT whiz. I’m glad I chose Blueprint and I had Aaron as my instructor!

Blueprint really put my LSAT studying on track after a dreary, fruitless month of self-​study. I was incredibly happy with the quality and quantity of the preparation material; I could actually feel myself adapting and understanding question and question, concept after concept.
But the best part of the class was definitely my instructor, Aaron. Aaron is a genius in two ways: first, the LSAT is his bitch. There’s no other way to put it. He can explain every question, every answer, and every game clearly and succinctly, yet on an abstract level that allows you to learn and match his thought process.
Second, Aaron is a genius of the performing arts. He takes 4-​hour LSAT classes, which /​should/​have been some of the most depressing, mentally torturous predicaments known to the modern world, and transforms it into a unique, long-​form improvisation routine that proceeds to poke fun at the curious and often outrageous propositions posed by LSAC and their demonic exam.
Aaron is so overwhelmingly good at his job that, when I had to skip a class for vacation, I was worried I would never receive proper instruction for that lesson. But lo and behold, Blueprint has all the lectures online, done by some dude that appears to stare into your soul while you watch. (All that means is you’ll be too scared to look away.) Anyway, the recorded lectures are similarly entertaining, and I had zero issues getting caught up and back on track for the next class.
This class is not without work, however. Aaron isn’t going to take the LSAT for you. Your results will vary in direct proportion with your (home)work ethic. I made the decision to do all the work up front, and I was dutifully rewarded with a mind blowing increase from my original 148, all the way to the mid 170’s. By the end of the class, I was able to tackle virtually any question on a very fundamental level. The LSAT may well become my bitch one day, too.

I had Aaron as my instructor and he was LEGIT! Not only is he extremely witty and quick but in general the curriculum was great from the book. They use hilarious examples so learning is dare I say…“fun”. This class is by far the best LSAT prep course you will take. Although I didn’t take other ones, I’ve heard reviews from people who did and they sound just as boring as you’d imagine. They’ve got 5 stars for a reason!

Blueprint LSAT Preparation is a fun, visual, and step by step LSAT preparation that will help guide and prepare you for the LSAT’s. I took a Blueprint classroom prep course in San Jose in April 2014 for the June LSAT. The class is set up to prepare you for the upcoming test, by starting you off with basic concepts, and building test tricks and skills for test day. The class was Mondays, Wednesdays, and some Saturdays and Sundays. There were practice tests every weekend as it got closer to the actual test date, and video’s to help you study. If you paid an additional amount, you can have access to ALL videos after each lesson.
I felt i could have been more prepared for the LSAT’s if I studies full time like most of the youngsters in my class. Homework was intense, and class was 6:00pm to about 10:00pm. If you work full time, and attend class, homework is almost impossible. I did what I could during my lunch breaks, on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s (non-​class days), and weekends. Studying for the LSAT’s is exhausting! I can see how it was a full time job for most. My teacher (met him at UC Berkley– For People Of Color– Law School Application Workshop) was awesome! He scored a 170, studied for the LSAT’s full time prior to teaching, this was one of his first jobs, lived at home with his parents, and taught class a few quarters, before attending Columbia in the fall of 2015. His girlfriend, was attending Harvard law that same fall. Both most recent college grads, and had the privilege of studying full time to prepare for test.
I would recommend, only if you have the time dedicated to studying and doing homework. The class course is not set up for the full time, older working professional. I wish I would have purchased the online course, and/​or the video course instead o study on my own time when I was available to focus. The classes provided an ease, and level of comfort to face the LSAT’s head on, and in real time. However, the cold calling and problems over and over again after a long day of work was not the best study method for me.
Although I did get into law school and was wait-​listed on my first choice, I plan to re-​take, and re-​apply to law school. Now that I am comfortable with the test, and BLUEPRINT help me get my feet wet, I plan to self study and plan to purchase a video, or online course instead. This will work better for me since I am a mom, and working professional.

The LSAT is one extremely hard SOB and honestly, wouldn’t have done it without the help of Blueprint.
If you’re taking the LSAT, you know GPA kinda takes backseat when you’re applying for law school– most schools counts on the LSAT. The great thing about Blueprint is it breaks it down for you to understand, granted you do the homework and practice like there’s no tomorrow.
There are no guarantees that you’ll get a 170+, but you’ll find yourself armed to tackle all three sections after the course, the rest is just purely practice and endurance training. I’m about to take the June lsat next week and possibly might do a second take in Sept.
I recommend getting the actual live course– the videos are supplementary but don’t rely on the online course by itself. Overall, Blueprint does not leave out any material for students, everything is explained and refined with a fine tooth comb.

Blueprint was awesome.
I had done a little bit of LSAT prep on my own before taking the course (PowerScore bibles) and felt that I could really benefit from a live course.
Aaron was an incredible instructor and really helped make the LSAT easier and fun (if that’s possible).
The pace is quick, and there is a ton of work in addition to the in class instruction, but I wouldn’t have been able to motivate myself to study the way I did without the course.
Highly, highly recommended. Blueprint rocks.

As the end of the class session is fast approaching I would like to write my review to the Blueprint Staff, especially to my instructor Phil B.
I am so glad I chose Blueprint as a preparatory course for the LSAT. First thing I would like to address is the location (s). For Bay Area folks, there is one in East Bay (Berkeley), Silicon Valley (San Jose and Palo Alto), and SF Bay (SF)– perfect for students on either ends of the bay or bridge.
I chose the one in Berkeley since it was closest to my home and convenient enough for me to drive after work. Time is quite flexible. During the academic school year, they offer classes that are in the evening and weekend classes so that both students and people that have full time Jobs can take the course. The only thing that sucks about this location is that it is right across from the Berkeley campus, so parking can be difficult. But if you circle around the block long enough, there is bound to be parking somewhere.
The classroom can fit about 25 – 30 students. I don’t think my class had more than 25 students. It was a the right amount, where seating is suffice and you can get know both the students and instructor. There are 2 bathrooms, no wifi (the two do not correlate, but I thought it would be nice to mention!)
Phil is such a great instructor. He engages the students by cold-​calling, and making sure we are all connected on the same page. The four hours of lecture/​LSAT practicing goes by extremely fast because (1) everyone is extremely hard working and trying their best to increase their score (2) Phil teaches it in a way that doesn’t bore the students. Jokes aren’t needed for students to like the class, however personality and the enjoyment of teaching is key. I am not sure if other instructors do the same, but Phil’s teaching abilities are superb. I believe that he really enjoys teaching and working with students. He also does not make students feel bad for not knowing the material or getting the answer wrong. There are so many times where I get the answer wrong and I’m like «Shit, for a college graduate I am stupid!».
He is extremely knowledgeable in the LSAT, I mean he has to be, BP hires 170+ folks (I am sure there are other talents that are needed). He shares great tips from the tools he have from BP as well as his personal tips– and we can gage which one are most effective in OUR way of learning the material.
I would rate my overall experience at Blueprint a ⁵⁄₅. I highly recommend BP as a preparatory course. They have a great team not only prepares you efficiently, they also truly care about their students (even if we were planning to become corrupt lawyers). They are like grandma and grandpa– no matter what you plan to be they want to you achieve the highest score possible (maybe without the money on birthdays)

I took the class in SF for the October LSAT. My instructor was Aaron Cohn – he was very helpful and genuinely cared about students’ success. He always answered any questions I had very promptly. While the classes were four hours long, they never seemed to drag on because there was always humor involved and students were very friendly with one another. Also, the office seems to care a lot about students’ success as well; they were always very encouraging and willing to answer/​address any questions or concerns I had. I would highly recommend Blueprint to anyone thinking of taking a class!

I took the Berkeley location since it is really close to school. My instructor was Aaron Cohn and he was great!
He was nice and really cared about the students’ success. No matter what, he always e-​mailed back any questions I had and he was always open for any questions people had for him before, during break, after class, and even outside of class. Although it can be taxing since the classes are 4 hours long, the sense of humor and enthusiasm really makes learning the material easy and time flew!
Overall, the whole class was super helpful and the curriculum is well laid out in a logical fashion which really makes the information stick.
What I really liked about Blueprint is that it is run differently from other LSAT prep classes. For example, my friend taking another one (won’t name it) was taking so many practice tests per week!
With Blueprint, their method is to:
— introduce us to the material, take apart what it means, put it into practice, and really understand what the question is asking you at a slower pace in the beginning.
This way, whatever I learned was more concrete because there was a specific method for each type of question. Once going through the motions to get the right answer was solid, the instructor then started to time us and get the speed up in preparation for the set time limits during the actual test.
Also, having the practice tests spaced out was really good as well. It showed the progress within each time frame and even tells you which part you need more work on and etc.
I have nothing but good things to say about Blueprint! They really are the best! I think the price I paid is fairly cheap for the amount of time, effort, and work the instructors put in for us. They are also very accommodating as well, so I felt comfortable bringing up any issues or concerns. So glad I chose them :)

I had the pleasure of taking Blueprint’s course in Berkeley which is literally less than a block from the Downtown Berkeley Bart Station. I will try to summarize my experiences with you:
Instructor: Brad Snyder was a very effective teacher. He has actually passed the bar and practiced law which isn’t the case with all the instructors unfortunately. Brad was very good at managing the class, explaining concepts, answering questions, and especially good at injecting some humor in the class to break up the mental abuse that is the LSAT. Brad made himself available to us between classes via email and we were also provided with a Teachers Assistant’s (located in LA. lol) email. My attempts at contacting Brad via email was not great however, one email was blown off completely and my other two emails were not responded to for over a week. Overall I would still rate Brad as an outstanding instructor.
Classroom: The classroom sucks a little bit to be honest. The rows of seats are too close together making it impossible to get out with other students seated unless you’re the closest to the aisle. There is no drinking water available so be sure to bring your own. Also the room is noisy at times and you will often hear the tenants next door through the walls.
Students: I was very disappointed that there were always 3 – 5 students that would come in up to 15 minutes late and disrupt class almost without exception. This was especially maddening during practice exams.
Curriculum: The course is outstanding. I made substantial gains in all 3 sections of the test. There are video explanations for every single Logic Game in the course! And these videos are excellent! There are even video explanations for many of the Logical Reasoning questions and the instructor comes in 15 minutes early to each class to answer questions from your homework. The strategies used in all three sections are very effective and organized. I had studied using books by Kaplan and Princeton Review prior to taking this course and was shocked by how much more I was able to learn from Blueprint. One criticism I would offer is that there was not enough time left at the end for review, we were still learning strategies up until a week before the test, also, there was no mention of LSAT test taking strategies that I had learned from Kaplan. Previewing sections and transferring answers in groups for instance were not taught.
Practice Exams: We relied on substitute teachers to proctor (2) of our practice tests and the first time no one ever showed up and we all went home. The second time the proctor showed up and it took her 30 minutes to open the front door. Hopefully they can get this figured out.
Support: One really cool thing about Blueprint is that they post daily on twitter and facebook. It may not seem important but there are a lot of useful tips, motivational messages, and inside LSAT geeky humor that really is nice to have.
Overall I would recommend Blueprint to EVERYONE wishing to increase their LSAT score. I really do believe that Blueprint cares A LOT about the performance of ALL their students.

So I took the San Francisco location class from Blueprint, and only have excellent things to say about it. First of all, the class was very small, probably one of the smallest ever given with like, 12 students. I heard that the classes are usually much bigger, around 50, but I was definitely lucky enough to get a small class. Second of all, Brad Snyder, our instructor, was absolutely stellar. His approach, much like the two other Blueprint instructors we had that subbed during the course, was very easy going and funny, while still challenging. There is no doubt his attitude and teaching style is what made the class tolerable for four hours a night, three nights a week. Thirdly, the material that Blueprint supplies is fantastic. The lessons are broken down and almost always cover a portion of each of the three sections, so it isn’t too draining on you mentally. Brad would spend a quick minute going over the approach, then do a few practice questions with us, and help us work out the kinks, then we would practice on our own, and he would go over the entire problem or set. There was never a question unanswered, and the explanations for each problem were covered extremely thoroughly. Moreover, there is incredible online support which is so handy for reviewing homework problems. Not that you need them, because there was always time before and after every single meeting to review questions or talk about anything LSAT or law school related. Brad kept it very real, and gave us sound advice on both avenues.
I was working full time, but had good attendance (I think I only miss 1.5 classes), and honestly only had time to do like, ¹⁄₁₀₀^th of the homework, and still managed to improve my score 20 points from the initial intake. Admittedly, I had never even done a single LSAT question in my life at the time of initial intake, I am satisfied with being in the 88^th percentile on my first attempt. Other people I’ve talked to about Kaplan and Princeton review in the area tell me that the classes are usually much bigger, and the instructors are dry and old, and unrelateable. Blueprint’s approach is clearly the opposite– young, relateable, knowledgeable instructors. Blueprint gives you the confidence necessary to conquer the LSAT and with commitment to the class and paying attention to the lessons, while doing as many practice tests on your own as possible (come the last month), I have no doubt that Blueprint is a great class to take to ensure a successful LSAT score.

It’s a really good course, and if you get Nick you get someone willing to do anything to help you get the score you have the potential of getting.
They’re also down to earth with you, and let you know how terrible an idea Law School is, but help you to get there anyways. I had a full time job and still had a sizable score increase, so go for it.

I’ve taken a look at some other popular LSAT books, including the Powerscore series and Nova, and the methods taught by Colin at Blueprint include all of the other books’ strategies and one-​up them. Among people I know, more highly recommended than any other program, including Kaplan or Testmasters, and it didn’t hurt that it was cheaper.
The best thing about Blueprint was my instructor, Colin the Cynical, who always said things as it is, and never got boring. Having a live instructor helped me a lot in being able to ask questions, especially from someone who actually scored in the top percentile on the test.
If you want to do well on the LSAT, take Blueprint, and practice a lot!

The first time I took the LSAT, I got a hold of a few empty Testmasters and studied on my own with other books. Blueprint is infinitely better.
First, Colin, the teacher, is awesome. He’s a sardonic evil bastard who has a lot a fun with the class.
Second, the methodology is far better much better than Testmasters (or anything else). I wouldn’t say either clearly dominates the other in regards to games or logical reasoning, but Blueprint completely blows everything else on the market out of the water in regards to reading comprehension. Everyone else’s strategy boils down to: read faster and understand better (no shit). Testmasters actually has a system they teach you that is tremendously helpful.
To top it all off, Blueprint is cheaper than any of the other major LSAT courses. Absolutely no contest. Even if all you get is the materials, I still highly recommend it.

The long awaited day had finally come– LSAC sent out the October 2008 scores. I was scared to open it. I had prepared for 3 months with Kaplan Prep and thought I was ready, until I actually took the test. Granted, my results could have been game day jitters; nonetheless, my end result was less than stellar and I did not feel as ready as I should have been.
The thought of taking the LSAT again was up there with desiring a swift kick in the jimmy. But after talking to a buddy in LA who took a Blueprint class (and got into UCLA with a 178) I found the motivation to stick it out.
Blueprint provided me the tools necessary to overcome my fears. They approached the sections in a logical (no pun intended) manner with the mindset of teaching the underlying skills necessary to achieve success. Contrarily, their competitors approach the LSAT’s by giving you timed sections over and over. Now this may be good for some but for me it was a bad fit. Blueprint began the course from the ground up beginning with formal logic and encouraging us to learn the fundamentals before worrying about time. Then we progressed into taking timed sections so game day was just another day.
Anyways, Blueprint increased my score from the 50^th percentile to the 75^th percentile.
Also, if you aren’t familiar with the test material — IT IS AS BORING AS IT COMES! But our instructor actually made class pretty damn funny while covering a lot of material.
I highly recommend Blueprint for anyone who is considering the LSAT“S.

I took a Blueprint course summer 2009 and I can’t say enough good things about the class. My teacher, Colin Elzie, was great– funny, helpful, and very knowledgeable. He kept the class lively and enjoyable, which is pretty impressive considering the circumstances. He was also willing to meet before or after class and replied to my many frantic emails promptly and with some much needed encouragement. Blueprint has great tips for games and drastically improved my logical reasoning scores. Thanks to Blueprint I was able to go from scores in the mid 150s to the mid 170s. Highly recommend!

Took a class with Blueprint in the summer of 2008 and it was the best decision I ever made. Going to law school, horrible idea, but the LSAT prep was incredible. I actually had a fun time during class, learned a lot and improved my score a whopping 17 points.
I would recommend Blueprint to anybody looking into the LSAT, totally worth the $ (and it’s cheaper than other classes), the instructors and schedule are great and you would dumb to go with any other prep comapny.

A friend in LA recommended Blueprint to me after they helped her get into NYU law, and when I finally got around to studying for the LSAT I decided to give it a shot. So now that the Dec LSAT is upon us, what’s my verdict?
Well, Blueprint was a really solid lsat course; the evening/​weekend schedule worked really well for me, and of course it was much much much better to be prepping with the class than by myself (as prepping by myself inevitably ended with me using my princeton review book to prop up my ashtray while I watched West Wing eps). The materials were very comprehensive, even at times slightly overexhaustive, and they included nifty podcasts of lessons and hw. And Colin was an excellent instructor. It was pretty much like being taught how to take the LSAT by Seth Rogan, and hey who’s not a fan of some comedy testprep?
In short, if you’re embarking on the grossness that is the law school apps process definitely give Blueprint a call. It won’t just keep you from attending 1−800-college-of-law… it’ll probably give you a shot at some pretty stellar school options!
