Beautiful winery! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Ian. My friends and I had not been to Tapteil before, so we weren’t sure what to expect. Ian immediately started asking questions about us, what wines we enjoyed, etc. Then he talked to us about the tasting, the winery and the other wineries they sell grapes to. We thoroughly enjoyed our wine tasting. We purchased two bottles of the 2013 Argus Bone Dry Riesling. After we finished, we checked out the scenery. It was too hot to sit outside, but I plan on returning to grab a glass and sit outside!

Tapteil has just about the best view on the mountain. Lovely wines and very friendly service, of course! I always make sure to take our guests here.

This one of my new favorite wineries. Exceptionally kind & attentive staff; each has a good deal of wine knowledge. The tasting room is filled with oil/vinegar samples & wine country info. The wine is delicious. I’m not a white wine drinker, but their bone dry white, honoring the Winery dog, Argus, is crisp, fruity, and aromatic. Argus himself is my favorite part of the experience.

Judging by the dearth of reviews here I can only assume that not nearly enough people have discovered this gem at the end of Sunset Road. Sure, there a plenty of wineries and lots of good wine to be found on Red Mountain. But you’ll find some of the best reds at Tapteil Estates. Argus(the winery dog) adorns the label of their Bone Dry White. Their grapes are used by many other wineries, but apparently they keep the best for themselves to create big, bold, beautifully colored wines. I especially like their cabernet sauvignon. Without any retail distribution, these bottles are available only at their small, nicely appointed tasting room. Nice people, handsome greeter dog, pretty setting and my favorite wines on Red Mountain.

Tapteil Estate, a fine vineyard on Red Mountain near Benton City, WA. One of the best Yakima River views from their basalt fountain, sunset patio while sipping great wine.

Great visit, wonderful views. Very quaint, privately owned estate. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the patio. The cab and Riesling were nice, but I preferred the Syrah. Not to far off the highway and worthy of a stop. Plenty of other wineries on the same road in Red Mt. area.

Tapteil Vineyard’s tasting room is on top of a hill in the midst of Red Mountain. Beautiful views! The tasting room is a comfortable size with barrels set up in the middle of the room displaying a spread of olive oil and basalmic vinegar samples. They have patio seating to take advantage of the view, which I’m sure would be fantastic on a sunny summer day. We tried the ’06 Syrah, ’07 Syrah and ’06 Cabernet Sauvignon. My boyfriend loved all three. Bold fruit that would complement any meal gets his seal of approval. And that is most definitely what we tasted at Tapteil. Red wines with a lot of flavor. We left with a few bottles of the ’06 syrah. And we got to meet the personable wine dog, Argus, which was a bonus.
