First and foremost, the bike(high-end Specialized road bike) that I rented was ready, clean, tuned and good to go. That is by far the most important part. But as far as my experience goes, these guys have a long way to go. What I would suggest to these guys is this: cheer up. You don’t need to be sullen, surly or disengaged. If you don’t like your job at the shop, find a new one, but don’t dump your angst on customers. Smile. Show interest in what your customers are doing — it will help.

Worst ever attitude. A group of us — very experienced; mtn bike worldwide; ridden Bend before — came in to ask about trail conditions. We got referred to the acting manager, who told us everything we asked about was too technical or too bike-destroying for us. These were rides we have enjoyed before. He told us we needed to stick to Phil’s. Wherever I travel, I have always made an effort to visit the LBS. However, this is the only shop I have ever visited that I would never return to.

Great service! Had a tube replaced, went flat. We went back and they discovered the liner was broken and caused the puncture of the new tube. They replaced the liner and put a new tube in for no charge and did it all within 5 min! Vacationing here but would highly recommend this shop for their great service.

We are bicycle touring the northwest and stopped in for some chain replacements on a Sunday afternoon. We called before we showed up to make sure they could accommodate us. I talked to Jeff the mechanic and he told me to stop in and he would see what he could do. Jeff was extremely friendly, as was all the staff in the store. After a short wait Jeff had our bicycles working perfectly for a fair price. If I lived here this would be where I had my bikes serviced. By the way, they have the cleanest bathroom I’ve ever seen in a bike shop:). Highly recommend them and especially Jeff!!!

Great shop. Service department rocks! This is the place to go for MTB and cruisers. Love the enthusiasm.

I went to Hutch’s to buy a few cleaning/repair items which included 2 new tires for my wife’s road bike. My daughter suggested it because she bought her 5 year old a bike at Hutch’s and were very pleased with the process. The staff was quick and friendly in helping me find the things I needed and when the cashier rang up the tires he said; «these are priced wrong — they are $ 5.00 less than marked». Really? Now that’s honest! I’ll return for sure!

We recently purchased 2 city bikes and couldn’t be more pleased with the service and attention we received from Elizabeth.

What a ridiculous business. How they have three locations in Bend boggles the mind. I had them replace a tire and tube for me. 3 rides later, POP. Now I’m going back to have them replace it for me, let’s see if they hold themselves accountable for their horrible service that they overcharged me for. Point being, DONTGOTOTHIS S#ITHOLE!!! Even if they replace it for free I’m never going there again. Be Responsible: FRIENDSDONTLETFRIENDSUSEHUTCH’S

Some friends and I visited Bend for our annual guys mountain biking trip. We had a great few days of riding and rented bikes from Hutch’s. The selection of rental bikes, accessories and gear was great at Hutch’s and we found the staff were awesome to deal with. We especially liked meeting Dave and he took the time to give trail recommendations and directions for us. He even invited us on their shop bike ride but we could make it. Can’t really ask for more in a bike shop.

We went to this store to find out about the MTB trails in and around Bend, the guys in there were great, they spent time explaining the best routes and had a cool map for us — very helpful. We didn’t buy a bike or get anything serviced, however based on our experience, would definitely give them a try. The reason we gave them a 5⁄5 was that we achieved what we were after and more.

Bought a Specialized Stumpjumper here a few years back, service was decent back then. Last few years service has gone down hill. When I need repairs, half the time the guys never write anything down, and then charge for stuff I didn’t ask for, or I have to return more than once because repair wasn’t done right in first place. Smiles all around from them no matter how many times I have to come back for same problem. I don’t have time to keep making trips back and forth when it should be done right the first time. Really frustrating! A fair amount of riding buddies have same experience at Hutches. Going to WebCyclery, they are pros there, and take the time to explain things even when they are buried(most of the time). My time is more valuable, geesh

Ever since I’ve moved to Bend I’ve been a Hutch’s devotee. I walked into that shop on day one and have had nothing but stellar service, great products, fast turnaround on bike tuning and well, have made some lasting friendships with the employees. I dropped off my bikes yesterday for a spring cleaning and first thing this morning I got a friendly call from Chris reviewing everything that needed to be completed and an really reasonable completion time. I’ve gone in and had a bike fit with John Frey and spent ample hours looking at tires, frames, glasses and nutrition with the employees, each who sets aside their time to hang with me, even if they aren’t going to get a sale. Best bike shop in town.

Came in to help a friend buy a bike. He found one that he could afford but we left to see what else was available in town… Not much in his price range. I called Hutch’s to let them know he was going to buy the bike but couldn’t come in until a couple days later. The guy on the phone said it was no problem and would have it set aside for him. No deposit was asked I didn’t think to ask. When we came in to buy the bike, «Oh sorry, it got sold.» Frustrating. The salesman we worked with this time was able to sell us a more expensive bike with the accessories my friend needed at the maximum of his budget. That was good, but he’s on a tight budget and it would have been great had the guy on the phone dotted his t’s and crossed his i’s(yes, I know that is backwards). I didn’t get a good feeling for this shop because of this experience.

Obviously no serious riders work here. Its just a job and a paycheck. Poor attitudes and zero bike knowledge. Should have listened to the locals and stayed away. «DONOTLETTHEMTOUCHANYTHINGONYOURBIKE» is all i heard around town.

Friendly and helpful staff, they know their stuff. My son was on the hunt for a BMX bike and the man helping us gave us both some really meaningful info for choosing a bike. We didn’t buy(I was suffering from sticker shock) but we’ll be back. Good selection too!

Very nice selection of bikes. Not much in the way of gear though, and they were understaffed on a Saturday. The west side location has more stuff.

They used to be my goto LBS until I went there for two tubes and three co2 cartridges. $ 30!!? I swear the guy made the price up. No prices on anything except bikes. I guess I looked like I could afford to be gouged. Two stars because they almost always have what you need. If you must shop there, go to their west-side location. Believe it or not I shop at Gear Peddler now. They dont have everything you want but they try really hard AND they know what a shimano bottom bracket tool is. I like to wear my Hutch’s t-shirt in there so they know I used to shop there.

These guys are great! I’ve been in 3 or 4 times and from the first I knew this would be my new friendly-neighborhood-bike-shop. Excellent customer service! I have two older bikes and mechanics Joseph, Michael, and Alex answered all my questions and fixed up my bikes for very little money. Yesterday I bought my first clipless pedals and shoes. Alex showed me how the system works and let me practice on a trainer. I felt like I was getting the VIP treatment. Update 10÷14÷12: Today my dad told me that he twice got a flat and Hutch’s fixed it both times, I think for free. My dad is 81 and he doesn’t remember the name of the guys who helped him but he’s very happy with Hutch’s.

like a kid in a candy store… i love bike shops. we had to pick up a couple of spare tubes and CO2 for our upcoming bike tour and stopped by hutch’s. as with everything we found in bend, over the top friendly. of course, he could hear my accent and probably thought i was some hillbilly and talked slow, but so what. they hooked us up and then pointed us to Baked next door for a snack. great guys!

Went to Hutch’s seeking a Shimano bottom bracket tool. Was met with baffled, slack-jaw stares, as if I had asked for a Whitworth wrench. The two guys working that day were calling the other Hutch’s store to inquire about this rare tool when I left in frustration. This experience was not confidence inspiring. I would not recommend Hutch’s.
