Any business owner who answers a call transferred to his cell phone on his day off(Sunday) and helps an owner of a recumbent bike(purchased at another store, in another city) so that a vacationer in Bend along with his family could enjoy a bike ride in this great town, gets high marks for customer service. Thank you Mark for telling us which exact Ace hardware store had the bolt we needed(and the size) to help replace the one we lost off my husband’s recumbent bike’s handlebars while driving over from Portland. Your kindness and old fashion quality service did not go unappreciated.

I had no idea there was a recumbent specialist in central Oregon until now. A few weeks ago I was searching for a shop to fix a broken spoke and Backcountry Recumbent Cycles came up in the list. I’ve been riding a recumbent trike for a couple of years and have never been able to get the front wheels adjusted properly, no matter how much I tried. This was more to do with my lack of tools(a stand that could support a trike, and an accurate tool to measure the toe angle — I used a tape measure, and had it close, but just enough out of adjustment to cause me some annoying tire wear.) I contacted Backcountry Recumbent Cycles about this and Mark told me to bring it in. I’m glad I did. They have all the tools and the knowledge, and very quickly were able to correct my very minor wheel alignment issue for a very reasonable price! While I was awaiting I had a look around and they have a great selection of recumbent bikes and trikes, and recumbent-specific accessories. If you’re a ‘bent rider, or curious about riding one(they’re great! I’ll never go back to a regular bike ever — try one and you’ll feel the same way!) go check out Backcountry Recumbent Cycles. They’ll take great care of you. A little off the beaten path in Tumalo, but worth the trip.
