Maybe I overestimated the authenticity of a place that translates to «the little sombrero» but somehow the food I got here was pretty decent, albeit not at all what I expected. From the road, it looks like it should be a hidden gem of Mexican deliciousness(run by Salvadorans of course). But the food seemed secondary to them. It’s really more of a soccer bar with the bar food that would entail(they even have a couple of U.S. bar favorites on the menu to compliment their Tex-Mex menu). I split the difference and got some deluxe nachos off the appetizer menu. They were made about as well as would be expected at a bar. That is filling with a crazy amount of toppings, burnt, and pretty large. Unfortunately, my decision was driven by the fact that the prices were a lot higher than I expected for the main courses. I thought about getting something more substantial for lunch than I did but at $ 15.00 plus for a main, I shied away. I could afford a fancy Tex-Mex place for that! They were also out of some of the items on the specials menu which was disappointing since I am always looking for a new place to try chile rellenos at. I probably won’t be back since it’s not worth going here unless you’re waiting for your car to finish being serviced at one of the many places on the road. But if I ever wanted to watch a soccer match with cheap beer, I now know where to do it.

Although I was the only non-Hispanic in the place, everyone was so welcoming. As soon as I was seated, a young lady came and took my order. The chips and salsa were fabulous. The salsa had a smoky taste that I adored. I asked if they could make it three cheese enchiladas. The server said ok. When I bit into the first enchilada, it was a tasty cheese one, but the second one was chicken. I was disgusted since I don’t eat meat. After a long conversation because of the language barrier, she quickly took it away. Although she promptly returned with three cheese enchiladas, I had to leave. Therefore, she had to put it in a «to-go» container. She didn’t look happy. Actually, she look downright pissed. The next day I returned because I was getting tires at the place next door. This time I simply ordered black beans, rice, and guacamole. The beans were seasoned nicely, and the guac was amazing!!! I was in love. I even received my Coke with a smile ;-) Overall, the food was great. I will just be more specific about what I am ordering. To be honest, I will return for the guac, salsa, and chips.
