This is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. The service was sub par, and it gets worse from there. The music was so loud I couldn’t even talk across the table without yelling, and then a song would change, music would stop, and everyone would hear you yelling. We came in on a Saturday for lunch and it wasn’t busy. Despite this it still took forever for our food to arrive. One of the dishes we requested the«chef» refused to make pork? Once the food did arrive it was horrible. The«shredded lettuce» that was served was just big wet chucks of ice burg lettuce, yuck! Everything was bland and tasteless. I honestly would have rather had Taco bell then this sad excuse for Authentic Mexican food.

It’s lonely through the day. It’s gets packed by Friday, Saturday and sometimes Sunday. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday there is a dj.(They do accept songs that customer wants to hear) The staff are friendly and are always checking up on you. The food is Mexican as the name says but they have more variety in which they sell pupusas, and valeadas(flour tortilla, and your choice of meat). Although they have variety the only thing that I mostly like to get is the carne asada or pollo asado(grilled chicken). The place is neat, traditional, and you can see stacks of beverages by the bathroom area. They have a modern juke box. The only and most of the problem that I have so far is with the food that they have it prepared rather than freshly made(only fish, chicken, and steak are made when you order). I stop by every now and then when I’m in the mood for grilled chicken or hanging out with friends.

Is there a nook or cranny in Beltsville that does not have tasty ethnic food? This one is in the shadow of the Powder Mill Road railroad bridge, and you don’t want to be craning your neck in that congested area. Because of the divider, you can only enter the parking lot from northbound US1 and must exit in that direction as well. Medium sized brightly decorated space. No mariachis in sight(though some of their hats are on the walls), but there is a 21st century jukebox that also plays videos and can be operated from an app. Pretty extensive menu of authentic Mexican dishes + papusas. Beer, juices, smoothies, but curiously no iced tea. I picked chilaquiles, the original of what became the Gringofied nachos. Tangy tomatillo sauce topped by chips topped by creamy and sharp cheeses topped by carne asado(chicken and fried egg also available). This is northwestern style, Sonora or Baja, more subtle than spicy(but not as wussy as Santa Fe) and with a complexity that comes out if you chew slowly and pay attention. I’m definitely going back to try the ceviche and mole. Great choice for true Mexican as opposed to Tex-Mex pseudo cantinas with premixed margaritas.

OMG! This place serves up some of the best authentic Mexican food I’ve ever had in my life! My son and I were on the hunt for some grub as we’re just getting settled in our new place and I haven’t found the time to cook as often. I’ve been really under the weather lately, and had a hankering for some phở. To Phở VNONE I go. Of course, the boy doesn’t want any phở so I tell him if he can find something affordable within a 2 mile radius, I’ll entertain his desires. Unilocal to the rescue. As a fan of Latin cuisine, he finds King Pollo listed 0.2 miles away. We cross the street and it’s CLOSED! It’s only 8pm! However, 2 doors down we see a sign brightly lit talmbout some mariachi something or the other. No Unilocal reviews, it’s not even listed anywhere online. I’m thinking this could be interesting! I warn the boy about his last experience dining at a sketchy Mexican place, he’s still game . We enter and it’s empty and dark with the exception of the one jukebox in the back and the florescent light being emitted from the kitchen pass through. I ask are they open and a bubbly teenager comes bouncing my way, excited to take my order. I ask a few questions, and she heads to the kitchen to obtain the answers. We ended up ordering the Carne asada and some lamb soup. Get it home, and I was truly jealous of the boy’s food! The steak was well seasoned, charred to perfection and tender, served with rice, refried beans, Pico DE Gallo, and handmade flour tortillas(you get a choice between corn and flour). My soup was out of this world! It was flavorful, spicy, and rich. They send it off in one of those large phở plastic containers(no melty Styrofoam containers). All in all, we’ve been back already and the tilapia(I’m really not a fan of that type of fish) was tasty, and my son really enjoyed his chimichanga. On Saturday night, they had a full house! Give it a try!
