Loved Peaks of Otter. Their tasting room and facility is gorgeous and everything about them(including their wines) is unique. Couldn’t recommend just one wine as they were all great; split into two tastings as they have too many to serve in one sitting(per ABC laws, said our pourer). Orchard on the property and the wine festival they host every year is impressive as well. If you’re in the area and have an extra couple of hours(cause it’s way off the beaten path) I highly recommend.

We(my gf and myself) are big wine enthusiasts and have been to several wineries in finger lakes, hamptons and bucks county(PA). This winery was set up in a nice location 40 min from Roanoke and have a good selection of sweet wines. We did the tasting for all their wines. Their spicy wine was particularly good. They also have a orchard and you can pick your own fruits. But we probably had the worst experience ever in a winery due to very rude service. When we went in they were serving another couple but we were made to wait for a long time without even making eye contact or a «Hi». After several minutes, we started our tasting. When I tried to ask the lady about their wine, she started mocking me, we were totally shocked and speechless. She was extremely short with us and was flat out biased. Overall, It was a very disappointing experience and we are going to stay away. Though, I can pblly guess the reason for this indifference in treatment, I am going to state the facts I know in this platform.

We stopped here about 4:45PM on a week day in the winter. They close at 5PM but Andy stayed late and did a tasting for us. We had a blast! Andy has a great personality and is knowledgeable about the wines they make on site. The wines were good, different and interesting. Bought a ½ case. If you are in the area and like wine and fun, you should gol

I love going to the Peaks of Otter winery. They are always so nice. They have the best wine around! My favorite. I would recommend going for a visit.

Loved the place. Loved the people. I was very impressed by the many varieties of vines. We did a 22 wine tasting and that was only the«B» list. Looks like they have at least 30+ wines and lots of jams and jellies. I would have rated them 5 stars but I had to take off 1 star for the black lawn jockey but other than that I love the authentic artifacts and rustic atmosphere.

Absolutely loved this place! Very laid back/casual winery with amazing views. My boyfriend and I are new to Virginia and we found this place online. Went there on a perfect 70 degree Sunday afternoon and had a great time. We are not wine experts by any means. The wine was awesome and prices are very reasonable! Very very friendly people there and they make you feel welcome. We will definitely be returning here often for our wine!(: p. s my favorite is the ‘blue ridge mountain grape’

My girlfriend and I went here yesterday, it was a 70 degree Sunday in February, so we were really psyched to get out of the house. This place is a lot of fun, we are not wine experts by any means, however it was really cool tasting all of the different wines, and we definitely have a lot of new favorites. And as everyone else will say, you have to kiss the devil haha. Definitely different. We will be back often for more wine!

Delicious fruit wine meets Key West. The setting is breath taking at the winery. You get a nice view of the mountains and rolling green fields. Inside a pretty wooden building is the store and wine tasting. They is a sizeable tasting bar in the back. The guy running the show was hilarious and fun. This was the most fun i had tasting wine. There are over 20 to taste… some is good, some is ok, and some are great! I loved the Puff, Apple, Vino Colada, and Passion Fruit wines. So different and unique. For the adventurous there are two pepper wines. Kiss of the Devil was something else. In addition they sell fruit, especially apples. This is still a fruit farm :) If you are in the area you must stop here. It truly is a great experience.

We went to the vineyard since it came highly recommended in the Bedford, VA area after visiting the National D-Day memorial. The woman serving the wines was not very interested in explaining a thing about the wines and once we told her that we would do the 3 wines for free instead of the tasting them all for $ 4.00 she turned her backs on us and attended to the ones that were paying. We became an afterthought. We did end up buying some of the Mango Tango but it certainly sold itself. I use to work at a Virginia vineyard and had a blast speaking with the patrons and explain the wines. This woman had the worst work ethic and we do not plan on returning. Sadly to say the wines were pretty good.

This winery was a lot of fun. This is not your typical winery, or wine tasting experience. Most of the wines that you will taste are fruit wines and more like alcoholic juice than maybe your typical wine, but don’t let that deter you! You will be able to taste many wines, and there are some really unique flavors. My favorite was the ‘chili dawg’ wine, which had jalapenos or something blended into it, Very different! They also have a very extensive selection or jams/jellies/butters and you can pick your own fruit there as well, though I did not do that. Also, I really enjoyed visiting the animals they have at the winery(pigs, donkeys, goats, etc). You can buy a bag or animal food and feed them!

Lots of fruity wines-30 to be exact on the tasting. Hopefully you don’t have to drive far when you’re through. This is not your typical winery, more off the beaten path, but very relaxed vibe. Very rustic, no frills, but if you like fruity wine, check it out.

This is such a fun thing to do in Bedford. Don’t go expecting your typical winery with classical music and people talking about their favorite reds and whites. Everything about this place is unique and fun. Make sure you kiss the devil before you leave. It’s worth it! :)

Amazing experience! We came here during our honeymoon and it was perfect. The wine tasting was one the best we have done. The gentleman that helped was very knowledgeable and personable. We ended up leaving with a few bottles of our favorites! Just a beautiful farm and vineyard.

Mr. Johnson was a great host for wine tasting. Had a great time! «Kiss the Devil» and«Chili Dawg» were fun. Great fruity wines. I personally enjoyed the chocolate(apple truffle) and coffee(forget the name of this one). Beautiful property.

I truly enjoyed my visit to the winery today. We tasted several of the wines and were impressed with the taste & the sweetness. It is not you typical winery, but it is a true testament to the wonderful state I am from. The people are friendly and make you feel welcome. I am sure the festivals and the orchards are equally enjoyable. I hope everyone in the area takes the time to visit.

Wow. My wife and I have been to a lot of wineries, but this one was definitely unique. Rather than imitate everyone else, they have worked to create a winery(and wines!) that defy comparison. We stopped by in the morning on our way to hike, and Shannon offered to open up early just for us! While we did not take him up on it, we were pleasantly surprised by how hospitable and accommodating he was. Then that afternoon when we got back, my wife and I did a tasting of somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 types of wines. She loved the first(and driest) of the apple wines — Virginia Apple Lovers — but I have to admit their wasn’t a bad wine on the list. Did not expect to find the Mojo, Coconut or Café Vino wines in a Virginia Winery, but they were a delicious surprise. The Pumpkin Pie and Cinfulicious were great, I can especially imagine having them for dessert with friends. Finally the Chili Dawg wine was fantastic. What stood out to my wife and I was how warm and insightful Andy’s presentation of the wines seemed. Both with him and Shannon, we could tell that this is a labor of love. They treat customers like family, and turn out products that they can be very proud to serve. Definitely going back when we get back to Virginia!

Definitely not my favorite wine in the area. Tastes like a home project to me. The staff are also not the friendliest, the shop is cluttered and unattractive and there is very little seating if you wanted to stay after tasting. Drive a few minutes down the road to Veritas if you are looking for high quality wine with a spectacular setting.

Okay, this is probably one of the most awesome things you can do in Bedford. Don’t go expecting your typical winery visit with classical music playing and people talking about the«notes» or whatever in the wine. Do go expecting fruit flies all over the place, unusual flavors, and to be entertained by the staff to no end. Oh and make sure you kiss the devil ;)

What can I say I’m a wine drinker. I love attending wine festivals and I tried the peaks of otter wine @ one. Which is why before I left the area i drove to Bedford, to go get the Blueberry Muffin. It’s something to do if you are bored in the burg.

How would you like a glass of pepper wine with that steak? Or maybe some pear wine with your Thai food? Pumpkin wine to pour on your pound cake? This winery is an experience. It’s rustic, near Bedford, VA and the mountain peaks it’s named for(near the Blue Ridge Parkway). Don’t go expecting grape wines. The winery attracts huge crowds at festivals… I call it the Bully Hill of Virginia(upstate New York wine fans should be familiar with Bully Hill). The plum wine and apple wine are about as close to traditional grape wines as you can get. Go for the views and the experience.
