A 3.5*, but this gets the bump to 4. We were in Bay City for a friend’s wedding and the morning after, we were naturally hungry for some brunch. Located a stone’s throw from the Doubletree was Morning at Maggies, the neighborhood omelette shoppe. Down-home and casual, it’s the perfect spot to get a hearty breakfast. Baked Potato [$ 7.99] Shredded potato, bacon, green onion, cheddar cheese, sour cream They had a number of omelette and frittata options available. The GF went with the baked potato omelette, which had all the tastes of a proper loaded baked potato collapsed into an omelette. It had a nice creaminess, though the shredded potato was a bit starchy. In addition to some toast, you also got a choice of shredded potato cakes or watermelon as a side. Create Your Own Frittata [$ 8.99] Bacon, sausage, Monterey Jack, green pepper, mushrooms, spinach I decided to build my own frittata. I went with a hefty mix of crisp bacon and hearty sausage, with plenty of Monterey Jack cheese, green peppers, mushrooms, and spinach mixed in. While it wasn’t well-seasoned, it wasn’t anything Frank’s Red Hot couldn’t fix. I opted for a potato cake side, which was a bit starchy and didn’t have much flavor outside of a paprika sprinkling on top. Overall though, Morning at Maggie’s offers huge portions and hearty breakfast options. While the seasoning could have been better, the ingredients were fresh and definitely satiated our hunger pangs.

The food was excellent. I had the pear, apple, rosemary fritatta. My daughter loved the Belgian waffle too.

Walked over from the doubletree for breakfast. We saw it the night before and the menu sounded good. We were seated right away. And we both ordered some drinks. The service was quick on the drinks. A bit slow in the kitchen. But I am starting to realize anything north of Flint has a slow kitchen service. When the food arrived it was hot and fresh… And it was delicious! We both had the baked potato omelette. The price was a bit higher than I would have expected but overall a great place for breakfast. I would recommend this to anyone.

The food was good. Prices were reasonable. The portion of the potato casserole was mediocre. Everything tastes fine but the service was terrible. No one acknowledged us until there was a table ready. No «We’ll be with you shortly», nothing. I am not eager to go there again. The waitress was friendly enough when we sat down but you can have the worlds best food but if the service stinks, the taste doesn’t mean anything. Next time, I’ll go to Bob Evans. Very disappointed.

I made my own omelet. I also got the potato casserole with wheat toast. I enjoyed my one and only visit to this place the other day. The country vibe reminded me a lot of home even though I was far from it. This place is definitely one of those that prides itself on being locally grown and fresh. I am all about that, but I don’t go out of my way to find it. The food is great and the service is good. I will point out that it may be a little pricey for some. Mine was over $ 17 after tip. You do get a monster portion for those interested in saving some for later. I wouldn’t mind going back, but it wouldn’t be on my own dime. As long as the company is paying, I’m cool.

Had a couple of great omelette today. One was the Hawaiian and the other a stuffed potato. Both were cooked perfectly! The side was homemade applesauce and it was excellent. Great meal!

This place is trying to be something it’s not. They charge ten dollars before tax for two eggs, two slices of bacon, two slices of toast, a very, very small portion of hash browns(all 7.49), and a coffee(2.49). The potato side was so small I had to wonder if it was a mistake. Moreover, it didn’t taste that good at all. My friend ordered the same breakfast with the other side option which was seaweed. Now, this is where what I said before comes into play. They’re trying to be some sort of culinary gem hidden in the normalcy of Bay City breakfast places. They even have the cliché picture of a gourmand cutting something fancy up wearing the french chef’s outfit in a newspaper article hanging on the wall by the door. But they’re not a hidden gem. They’re just mediocre at breakfast. Sure, maybe they specialize in omelettes, but what’s wrong with some fresh hash browns browned in butter? If you spend eight dollars for a breakfast, you think you would get at least one potato’s worth of food! A potato costs nothing! If you can’t get two eggs, meat, and potato right, what can you?

Good food good service. The menu had some weird items, but the quality was up there. We will definitely be returning if and when I come back to the Bay City area.

I’ve been here a couple of times for breakfast/brunch and it’s always been a good experience. The menu offers variety so everyone should be able to find something they like. The prices are reasonable and the food is good. Be prepared for a bit of a wait though, especially on Sunday mornings. It can get pretty busy and its a small restaurant.

There’s really nothing special about this place, but at least it looks like they try; customer service was on par. Wait times were longer than average, especially for two people ordering eggs – really, how long does it take to cook eggs? My meal was very mediocre, but my friend said he enjoyed his. And the silverware was dirty. This was my first time, and I won’t be back; there’s just too many other places in town that are better. Step it up, Maggie!

First time here. Hubby ordered the Spanish Omelette, I got the make your own. The food was decent enough though I didn’t care for the potato casserole at all. I really needed a good cup of coffee but I was not even able to make it through one cup here, it was HORRIBLE coffee! The server was very nice and helpful, I would say the service was the best thing here. I expected more for $ 24 before the tip! The bathroom was dirty, the floor looked like it hadn’t been mopped in awhile, just swept. All in all I’m not expecting food poisoning or many thing but for a $ 24 breakfast I think I’ll pass on Maggie’s next time…

The atmosphere was unique, like you were in someone’s house. That was cool. I thought the food was good, but not better than any other diner. I ordered an omelette thinking it would be spicey but it what fairly bland. Had some cool menu choices that stands out over typical breakfast spot. Service was good but not overly friendly. Should probably swap out the hostess. Portions good, wife and daughter split an omelette and I was not stuffed when finished. A little expensive.

Do not go when you are really hungry because you need to wait for a while… hh But if not, then it is a good place to eat. Their food are all great.

Morning at Maggies is a Bay City treat. If you are looking for a local haunt to have a great breakfast, Morning at Maggie’s is your place. I’ve been there a couple of times and each time, the food was outstanding, food well prepared and seasoned, and the portions were very generous — you will not leave hungry! From their menu, it looks like egg dishes are their signature dish, and they are certainly good. If I’m looking for breakfast in Bay City, then Morning at Maggie’s on my short list.

After reading reviews I was cautious but food was amazing! The herb infused lemonade was great! Had the gorgonzola pear frittata and the berry chocolate french toast and would highly recommend. Service was so so but nothing that would make me not come back.

The food is very good, and the menu is wonderful… BUTWHYSOEXPENSIVE?! There are other places in town with the same quality food, larger portions, and cheaper prices!

Do not live in Bay City, but have been to Maggie’s a few times when we come to visit friends. In the past the service and food were good, but this time, it seemed like the wheels were coming off. There were 11 of us(six adults and five children). After seated, we sat for about 10 minutes before someone came around to take our order. When she did arrive, she was very short with everyone, and you could tell we were going to be in for a rough ride. Little did we know that coffee and drinks would be another 20 minutes at best, which really sucks when you have little ones. Yes they were busy, but they are always busy on weekends and it should never be too busy to run folks their drinks and make sure they are situated fine. The food was probably another 20 minutes and of course we did not have any silverware. When we asked for silverware we were told it was being washed and a few minutes later another waitress dropped off a stack of napkins, forks and knives on the end of the table, and said, «sorry they are not wrapped» and walked away. Our orders were surprisingly on cue except for 4 sides of bacon that were missing, When we reminded the waitress, she went to the kitchen and returned with one plate of bacon. she then told us, «the cook wouldn’t put the bacon on seperate plates. I tried, but he refused, and what could I do». She then put the plate down and informed us it was two slices per order, so just grab them. You know where this is going, 4 orders=8 slices, but only 5 slices on the plate. When all was said and done, the food was not bad, it was just the service and management that were appalling. While we were there, we witnessed two tables get up and leave after waiting unsuccessfully for their drinks and food. When my wife brought up the poor organization and service with the manager, she huffed and said, «well, we are busy.» Not, I’m sorry you were not happy today, please come back again and we will make it up to you, blah blah. Not sure we will be coming back to a place that does not seem to care that their patrons experience was poor. Very disappointing. I see a Restaurant Impossible episode in this restaurant future.

Love this little breakfast place! Its cozy and the food is always good. A bit pricey but really good! I missed my cookie they used to give out. Wonder if they stopped doing that. *frown* They used to give you a homemade cookie before your meal. They make delicious omelettes and fritattas. They have vegetarian friendly food as well.

What do you do in Bay City? You go to Maggie’s for an Omelet!!! Listed on one of the«Things to Do» in Bay City, and loving omelets like I do how could I possibly miss this place? It was a great start to our day, the service was excellent and friendly but I think it was a little overwhelming when the place filled up. We enjoyed it and liked everything we ordered(omelet, frittata, etc.). Cute — country type place and service with a smile. if we are ever in the area again, I would definitely go back. The omelet’s are really fluffy(absolutely wonderful).
