This is a really great place for lunch. They have a variety of items including several burgers, coneys, and grilled cheeses. The two items that impressed me the most were the Mac and cheese and the sweet potato fries. First, I’m a lover for Mac and cheese. This was cooked in a personal iron cast skillet and baked with crumbles on top. Simply delicious. The sweet potatoes fries were heavenly. Dip them in the creole remoulade and you are in for a real treat. Yum yum yum. I would highly recommend this place.

First time here. Enjoying the burgers. They have a really nice menu with all kinds of great sounding stuff. Nice drink menu as well. If I wasn’t here with my daughter and her friend, I most certainly would have ordered up a Zombie drink! I ordered the Poivre Burger. Also comes with your choice of a number of different sides. My daughter and I ordered up the bbq coleslaw. Our food came out and the burger was excellent. Very juicy, seasoned well, and was really nice with the bun it was on. The buns are really good! But the bbq coleslaw? I just didn’t know what think about it. Didn’t really taste bbq and was just not that good. Has a reddish tint to it as if BBQ sauce was added, but just didn’t have the taste. I was really expecting something better than that. I certainly wouldn’t order it again. The waitress we had was really nice, and attentive. We will certainly be back for the burgers. But definitely not the BBQ slaw!

I was rolling through Bay City for work, and needed a quick lunch. This place had a pretty stellar Unilocal review, so I stopped. It was a beautiful day, so I sat outside and sizzled at one of the mirrored high tops with terribly uncomfortable chairs. I ordered the«California» Turkey Burger with Fruit as my side, along with a Blood Orange IPA that sounded good. Although new, and on the menu, the«beer line wasn’t tapped»?! Oh well, I’ll try the Rubaeus. The beer was more like a fruity wine cooler, but it was pretty good. My turkey burger was another story. It was supposed to have avocado on it. Avocado ended up being a processed guacamole. It looked and tasted like what Taco Bell may consider«Avocado». Lol. The turkey burger patty itself was heavily spiced and overcooked to the point of being dry. The side of fresh fruit was delicious! All of that for $ 17+ before tip! I think I should have gone to the spot next door, and next time I will!

I had lunch there the soup was extremely thick but they used fresh ingredients which was great. Prices was average and the restaurant was a little over crowded.

This is seriously an amazing place! It’s small but has a wonderful atmosphere. But the best thing about it is the food. I had the Kentucky derby burger which might just be my favorite burger in Michigan!!! It included garlic mashed potatoes that were just as good. The portions were just about perfect!!! I was very pleasantly surprised!!! Don’t miss it!!!

Solid place. The beer selection was fantastic! And I was able to taste one of their adult milkshakes– yum. So food and so worth it. I ordered their Mac and cheese with chicken, bacon and added tomatoes. They forgot the tomatoes… Which, I feel are fantastic in Mac and cheese, but I was starving and had been up since 2am and still had about 3 hours of road trip left, so I didn’t say anything. It was a little salty for my tastes, but still good. The loaded chips were delicious and my friend got a burger and fries– they looked awesome. I probably won’t be in the area again for a while, but if I ever am– I will probably try something else on the menu at this place.

I really enjoy this place. The atmosphere is lovely either for a date or a drink or with family. I really love their black bean burger, not often do places serve alfalfa sprouts with their burgers and it was really delicious. They have amazing happy hour specials and different drinks specials every day. I recommend this place to everyone.

I would give this a solid 4.5 stars. interesting menu, good service. my brother in law and I split a country fried steak and it was easily enough for the both of us. Mashed potatoes(we substituted that for home fries) were the star of the show. The country fried steak was good. We asked for, and got extra gravy. I thought they were a little spare with what came with the meal. It included toast that I might have served with butter on it. Those two minor things what would keep me from giving it 5 stars. Interesting menu. Many dishes to choose from… probably none of them healthy. I’ve had their 50⁄50 bacon/beef(or beef/bacon. your call) in my other stop there and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Downtown Bay City is a jewel. Many cool old buildings and interesting store fronts abound. The signage for their theater is unbelievably cool. I won’t tell you in advance what it is. go find it.

This is one of Bay City’s best kept secrets when it comes to food. This city is turning into a foodie destination north of Detroit. AK has been around for a few years and has been consistently serving up their own take on the hamburger and I consider them a great place to fill that craving.

Terrific place for a casual dinner. Our waitress Katrina was very nice, attentive, and helpful. Great salsa and guacamole, highly recommend the Bacon and Blue Burger and the build your own. Nice beer selection and cocktails. Don’t miss the specials board at the entrance.

Ambience and beer selection was great! Salmon burger very dry and salty, very bad. Would come back next time I’m passing through but not getting that again.

I was staying at the DoubleTree for business and wanted to check out some of the local places for dinner. I chose American Cuisine based on the positive Unilocal reviews, but mostly because of all the pictures on Unilocal.Everything looked so delicious and greasy, which is what I was looking for. American Kitchen didn’t disappoint. I ordered the Fried Egg Grilled Cheese and was blown away! I consider myself to be a grilled cheese connoisseur but I had never thought to put a fried egg on my sandwiches. It was amazing! Super cheesy with a nice, thick cut of bacon. The bread was nicely toasted and the egg was eggscellent(Haha! See what I did there?) Anyway, I’ll definitely make it back to American Kitchen during my next trip. The sunny side up egg made the sandwich really messy, so I’ll probably ask for it to be cooked another way next time. Maybe over medium?

My favorite restaurant in town for contemporary American eats! The atmosphere is casual, yet very modern. They often run drink specials for sports games, local events, etc.(try the adult malts!) The burgers are unique, and can be lettuce wrapped! The food is usually very fast and the specials change every week. Outside seating is nice in the summer. Going solo? Nothing intimidating about ordering food while hanging at the bar!

The food was tasty, I ordered the meatloaf sandwich which was tender and juicy and the fries were crispy. My drinks were good as well. I also had a bite of one of their burgers which was tasty too. The wait staff was attentive and the place was clean. No complaints.

Visiting family in Michigan and stopped here for a quick lunch with my Mom. It’s a nice bistro-style spot with normal menu items(burgers, sandwiches, grilled cheese, etc.) but with a bunch of different twists. I had the Poivre burger(lots of cracked pepper — very good) and Mom had a traditional grilled cheese. Solid, timely service, friendly server — good stuff. It was a bit loud in the room for casual conversation(hard walls, floor, and ceiling, no sound baffles). Worth a visit for good food and a casual but stylish atmosphere.

I don’t feel like writing a «real» review so here are some main points: 1.) The place is really tight. 2.) The onion rings are pretty good, but the onion tends to come out after a bite. 3.) The 50⁄50 burger was tasty(I added jalapenos), but even though I really like mustard, it seemed sort of unusual to have on this burger for some reason. AK sauce would have been better, probably. 4.) The beer prices are very fair — about $ 5 a pint. 5.) I’d go back if I were in Bay City. My expectations were likely too high for this place(I was figuring I’d give it five stars), but it’s still excellent. Those who say«BESTBURGEREVER» need to get out more… yeah, the burger was very good, but nothing I’d write to Guy Fieri about(and not just because it has a fried egg on it). P. S.: For people recommending the Rochester Mills Milkshake Stout — I, too, recommend this beer, but only if you like mediocre beer.

I came here with my parents at about 8PM on a Saturday and it was pretty busy, but it’s also a small place– we were told it’d be 25 minutes until we were seated but it ended up being 9. We got the onion rings for an appetizer, which were really good. They didn’t taste like the average restaurant onion rings, something in the batter. It was definitely beer batter because it tasted like fish and chips, which sounds weird but was actually delicious. I got the jalapeño popper grilled cheese on California sourdough. It was loaded with cheese, jalapeños, and a good amount of bacon. The bread was also covered in butter which made it really crispy and. buttery. You also get about 2.5 cups of shoestring fries with the sandwich, which were very easy to eat a thousand of. My mom got the fried egg grilled cheese(also on California sourdough, minus bacon) and at first said she’d have preferred a fully cooked yolk, but after a few bites decided runny yolk is the way to go. My dad got the P-Triple-B burger which, according to the waiter, won’t be on the menu much longer so try it while you can! It’s a burger patty with cheddar cheese, bacon, and a healthy amount of peanut butter slathered on top. He definitely would recommend it. My parents also each had a draft beer, of which there are many to choose from. The total came to about $ 50 with tax, which is a pretty good deal for all that we got. They’re huge portion sizes, but also really good food. I’ll definitely be coming back here.
