Christmas eve wife and I visited the new location for this restaurant to order oysters and other seafood. It was crowded that night and the server was prompt and nice taking our order and serving it in short order. The grilled oysters were as good as any we’ve tried, perhaps better than most. They were perfectly cooked and tender. Wife ordered fried oysters and shrimp platter. The oysters on her order were a bit over fried while the shrimp were perfect. Once she let the waiter know of this issue, he promptly took care of it and brought a better batch. I ordered the fried oyster poboy and the oysters were nicely prepared and not over cooked, though I prefer a lighter batter than the on they use. But I still enjoyed the poboy which which I only had butter, pickles and ketchup as dressing.

Somewhere between 3and4 stars so I’ll take the high road on this one. It’s got decent food and some of the servers are quite nice. I’ve been here multiple times. This last time the hush puppies were burnt pretty bad. Out of the 8 we had on the table 2 were not burnt. No real complaints other than that

Tourist trap. From the previous pictures of the food they used to have good food but have now settled on deep frying everything. My «Cajan Mary» was cocktail sauce with vodka, I would have ordered a beer but all the taps were out. If you can go somewhere else, go! This place is only for drunken tourists and gamblers

I was in town for one night and decided to stay at the Belle of Baton Rouge. It was a Sunday night and the only open restaurant was at Shucks so I decided to check it out. The food was hot, fresh, and very tasty. I had the blackened tilapia and crawfish hushpuppies, very good! My friend had alligator bites and they were seasoned and prepared perfectly. Overall I was very impressed with the food quality and would definately return again!

I only ate there cause it was connected to the hotel. Food was cold and flavorless. Service was mediocre. My hush puppies were burnt to a crisp! My last time wasting money in that horrible place

Not impressed at all. We decided to eat here since we were staying at the hotel that it’s connected to. Food was okay, I’ve had better for the price. Overlooking the Mississippi River, that’s a plus. Watched a pretty sunset. Service not so great, friendly but was not prompt and stood over me when I was signing for my bill. I thought that was a little rude. Dark kinda dingy atmosphere, didn’t have a «clean» feel. Ran out of chicken mashed potatoes and something else!!! How do you run out of food?! Fried shrimp good. French fries tasted strange– fried in same oil as seafood??? Hush puppies were okay but a little dry. Kitchen Closed at 8pm. That was strange. First time to BR and was really disappointed.

What an appropriate name for this restaurant. When I left I found myself thinking«Aw shucks, I wish I had eaten some fast food instead!» The shrimp po-boy contained approximately 10 – 12 quarter sized shrimp. Hush puppies were horribly dry and almost not edible. Service was lackluster at best. Save your money. Go buy a loaf of bread and some bologna. You’ll be a lot happier.

There are signs all over the Belle of Baton Rouge asking«Gambling Problem?» No ma’am, I have a shrimp Po’boy problem. Is there a 1 – 877 number for that? Shucks is not fancy-pants, nor is it over-priced. I ordered a fried shrimp Po’boy with a side of cole slaw for under $ 16 with tip. It was way too much food, but I’m from out of town so I didn’t care if anyone saw me eat the ENTIRE thing. Word to the wise, if Alexis(the sweetest waitress ever) offers you a to-go bag, take it. The shrimp were perfectly fried with some kind of magical Baton Rouge addictive substance sifted into the breading. The bread was soft and light. The hush puppies are shut-your-face delicious. Sadly, I wimped out and only ate half of one.(I was full!!) The coleslaw was super good too. I’m sure based on other reviews, there are more authentic po’boys or places I should have gone instead. I’m from Denver. All I know is what food makes me do the Yummy Dance… And if the Yummy Dance should strike, they’ve got a hit list of badass 90s jams to get your giddy groove on to.

Disgusting microwave frozen dinner quality food, except with a microwave, you can at least make sure your food it hot. Poor service. Zero stars if I could.

Just got done walking the USSKIDD. Looking for some food near by and found this place. Good food, at a descent price. Friendly dinning and a good view of the barges and ships on the river. Had the Shrimp Po Boy, good stuff.

Not a bad place to eat, original wacky combos for dishes, decent food, and good service. It actually resembles a Greek restaurant I’ve been to in Northern California. It’s in a strange location and the hours are weird, but I would still eat here if I was tired and it was open. The rest of the photos are not a good representation of what the restaurant looks like or the food, but at least people are having fun.

I got the Fried Platter. it was good, but not the best by any means. the service was nice and quick. after an inquiry, they let me substitute onion rings for the normal fries. that was nice. This was on a Tuesday night and not too busy.

The hostess was slouching over the desk and directed me to the outside lobby to make a to go order. That cashier was reading a book and didn’t even notice me. When I asked to swap the mashers with veggies, on their $ 19 entrée, she looked at me as if I was crazy. It wasn’t an option. So I left.

Good food, perfectly cooked, best crab cakes I’ve had. True on the limited bar and lacking that sparkle of a great waitress/bartender but overall a good choice.

Went here for convenience since I was staying at the hotel and was pleasantly surprised. Limited bar, no beers on tap. The beer was expensive, but was very cold. I got a catfish po’boy, which at $ 7.00 was about what I expected. The bun was okay, not the freshest, but not stale, the tomatoes and catfish were very good. The bartender was polite, but not overly attentive. Overall, I was perfectly satisfied, but not particularly impressed.

Okay this was shaping up to be a 2 star review until they placed the burger I ordered in front of me… DONOT order the Oysters on the Half shell!!! They weren’t fresh in any way shape or form! The burger was outstanding!!! Juicy, a little greasy and flavorful… I ate at the bar and the bartender was great and personable… the interior is a bit bland and frumpy… Great views of the Mississippi though… I really wasn’t impressed with the place all that much, then I ordered the oysters and my opinion went even lower… but the burger pulled them back up to a 3 star… But if you find yourself in the Belle of Baton Rouge there realy ain’t much choice for eats!

Came here for early dinner, place was not very busy. Our group of 4 ordered po-boy sandwiches with fries. The sandwiches were excellent, and the fries were good. The service was very poor. The wait was long, and only 3 of the sandwiches arrived. The fourth came about 15 minutes later, with no apolgy. 5 stars for the food, 1 star for the service. Average out to 3 stars.

It’s the restaurant for the casino on the river in Baton Rouge. The service was molasses slow with one meal(for our table of 8) coming out a good 15 minutes after everyone else. The décor is minimalist. The best part of this restaurant was walking on the levee path to get there.
