This was the 3rd time I’ve tried this spot and I just don’t like it. I had the grilled cheese with bacon and it just wasn’t to my liking. The relaxed décor and environment is attractive for this area but the food is pricey for the serving and just not that great. Also, they are slow. My coworker and I waited nearly 40 min for 2 sandwiches. No lie, there were like 10 people in there of whom half had already eaten and we’re just reading or talking. Just not my cup of tea. I’m done«trying» them.

How have I not come by here sooner? Huge airy coffee shop, relaxed vibe. Waitstaff is very laidback… no one is rushing to get you the bill and my party and most of the crowd that day seemed to be parked at their tables for hours. Great place to get some work done! Also a delicious menu. I tried the asparagus leek pot pie, very unique and yum! Tasted homemade! Didn’t have a chance go try the coffee. next time. Atwater’s is Eager Park, section of Hopkins campus that is up and coming(literally…there is a new food truck area outside and there is a hotel being constructed across the street) and the new foot traffic will only make this place even better in the coming years.

Service has been very hit or miss but overall it is a fine experience. Good atmosphere for a quick lunch but their sandwiches could have a bit more meat on them. The chicken salad sandwich is our go to but you should add Avocado! — @officialfoodgroup

Atwater’s sells delicious, crusty bread by the loaf, and I think it’s the only place in close proximity to JHMI that has it. I’ve never eaten at the restaurant, though. They have three flavors: country white, sunflower buckwheat, and cinnamon raisin. The sunflower buckwheat is my favorite. A loaf is quite expensive at $ 8, but it’s pretty big and is very high quality. They can also slice it for you by request. I usually just stick the whole thing in the freezer and pull out a few slices to toast at time.

Love their burger plate and a few other things. But their coffee sucks!!! This place would get more stars if it wasn’t so pricey!

A favorite haunt of Hopkins public health/med students and hospital employees. Hearty American pubfare. The menu’s always changing but the hamburgers are always good. This place keeps busy!

Ok Atwater’s, I gave you another chance. Today I went in and tried their Turkey Dill Havarti cold sandwich(whole for $ 11.50) which comes with«Plainview farms turkey breast. Sliced apples. Basil mayonnaise, horseradish coleslaw. Leaf lettuce. Served on Irish Brown bread.» A solid sandwich, but quite pricey for a rather average(or even small-ish) sized sandwich + one pickle spear. Service was polite but spotty — I had to go to the counter to pay because nobody came by my table after the food was served. However, the guy working the counter was very amicable and I enjoyed chatting with him. 3.5 stars for the food, bumped down for the steep prices.

Lunch Break I came here on a whelm for something different. It’s a few blocks away from my job so why not. When I first got there they greeted me at the counter and gave me a menu. I took a seat by the window to look over the menu. The inside is very clean and modern, I love window seating areas where you can look outside and be nosy lol. I was suprised how they came over and asked if I had any questions and if I wanted to order. I thought this was a place where you order at the counter so that was a plus. I ordered a petite sandwich with ham and pepper jack cheese, hot chocolate and some kettle sour cream and onion chips. It was really good, I wished I would have added mayo to the sandwich but hey you can’t always get what you want hahaha. Overall I really enjoyed my experience here. The whole total came to $ 9 dollars and some change.

Very busy at lunchtime and you’d think they figure it out by now that they don’t have enough servers to cover the rush. Expect to wait 45 minutes(though I’ve waited longer) to be served. Wait until after 2pm if you can. Food is fine but not cheap. Avocado Grill is tasty.

While Atwaters is on the pricier end, all of the ingredients are so fresh. Literally everything on the menu is amazing and the employees are so friendly and patient when I can’t decide what to order when everything sounds good!

So glad that this space opened up! The interior is really open and airy with glass wall and high ceilings. The menu isn’t too big but the grilled sandwiches have been consistently reliable. Their coffee is also really good! Had a pour over coffee that was super flavorful. I hate mayonnaise but my friends have loved the chicken salad because of the fruit and dried cranberries.

Hmm… I kept hearing good things about Atwater’s so I made it a point to finally visit for lunch. I tried their Sasaki salad($ 9.50) which really stood out to me because of its asian inspired flavors(miso tofu, ginger dressing, tea egg, etc.) What i ended up paying for was a pile of vegetables with virtually no flavor. I should have asked for more dressing, but I’m not sure that that would have been enough to salvage it. The«miso tofu» was extremely bland and very dry, and the«tea egg» was definitely not a tea egg. I got a 15% discount with my 929 card so ended up paying about $ 10 after tip and tax, but it was still(far) from being worth it. Maybe other items on their menu are better, but the sasaki salad was a big no-go. I visited with 4 other people and the general consensus seemed to be that the food is overpriced and not good enough for what you’re paying.

Not sure if this is the correct location, but had to rave about my experience today! Was at the Fell’s Farmers Market and had a wonderful interaction with Kita(sp?) She got us some great bread and was an absolute pleasure. Thanks so much Kita! We’ll be back for more next week!

This is my third time here. Had I written this review before today, I would have given it a 3 or even a 4. However, today I decided to order a salad – are you KIDDING me with the size of these salads? I ordered the field greens salad, which is already $ 7.95, and got grilled chicken on top, which I had to pay an extra whopping $ 3.95 for. At over $ 12 with tax, any sane person would expect a substantial salad. What I got was a large handful of greens, a few blocks of cheese, a handful of walnut(the base salad) and 4 strips of chicken on the side. This salad, although tasted great, should not have cost over $ 4.50. See attached photo. The last time I came, I had no issues. I got half of a chicken salad sandwich and a side salad, which wasn’t much smaller than the one I had today, at s third of the price. Everything was splendid. The time before that, I got the Cuban sandwich, which was anything but. They put all of that meat on paper thin, over– toasted white bread(more like crackers at that point) which made the whole sandwich fall apart upon the first bite. Horrendous. Each time I’ve come, the service has moved slower than molasses. If I’ve ordered ahead, I expect to not have to wait for 10 minutes in a line that doesn’t have more than 4 people ahead of me. One register open during peak lunch hours? Give me a break! I can say the food has mostly been enjoyable, and I’m interested in coming for happy hour. But, that’s literally the last chance I’ll give this place. Step up your game, Atwater’s, because I really want to like you.

I love their sandwiches. They are so healthy and taste great. The chicken salad sandwich is my favorite so far. It has apples, cranberries, raisins, spinach/lettuce and basil in it. The meat, veggie and fruit flavors go well together. Bread was also nice and grainy but edges were a bit hard. And the pickle, oh the pickle was marinated in something that was great. I also get their pre-packaged chips that go well with the sandwiches and pickles. Nice, clean, airy and spacious place. Seats and benches/booths are very hard though. I guess they don’t want you to be able to sit there for long lol. The wait staff was courteous, polite and efficient. Totally enjoyed my meal for a $ 10 bill + 30% tip. Good deal!

Pros: + Good food with healthy options + Delicious cookies + Courteous service + Large, clean space + Located right next to 929 apartments and close to Johns Hopkins Hospital + Part of 929 Vendor’s Club, 15% discount Cons: — Not open on weekends — Closes relatively early on weekdays(8pm, used to be 6pm) — Can get crowded around noon, hard to find seating if you don’t beat the rush — Somewhat pricey for the portion size I usually get the chicken pot pie here. It’s very hearty and creamy, and the crust is amazing. It looks small but it somehow always fills me up. I recently tried the BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich, which was very tasty, but I expected more pork. I also tried their BBQ chips, which are really good. Note: it costs $ 1.25 pre-tax, while on the menu it’s listed as $ 1. I’ve been here many times over the past year, and have also tried a lot of their soups, which change over the course of the year. They soup never disappoints. On their dinner menu, they also have a hummus platter, which comes with hummus, some pita, and dipping veggies like carrots, which is also great. They also separately sell baked goods. The cookies are phenomenal, especially their ginger molasses cookies and their snickerdoodles, which are crispier, while the ginger molasses cookies are a little softer(though this may have just been the batch that I tried). Perhaps one of the best features is that it’s right across the street from 929 Apartments, which is very convenient. I frequently see staff from Johns Hopkins Hospital walk here from the hospital for lunch.

I’ve come by this location a few times when I’ve been in town, and I’ve always enjoyed it. Even as a bit of a coffee snob, their milk drinks and pourovers are top-notch. Love their sunrise sandwich for breakfast, beef soup, and their little poundcake bites! Their pastries are delicious and unique, too. At their prices everything on the menu is worth a try; I haven’t been disappointed so far. In terms of atmosphere, it’s a lovely place to sit and camp out when I’ve got a lot of work to do. The servers are attentive but also don’t pester me even when I stay put for a while. They get a big lunch rush around 12:30, but it’s all pretty well managed.

Went for breakfast this morning. Ordered two of the breakfast sandwiches mine on white and my wife had the flax seed bread. Overall the sandwiches looked very good but both bread selections were very bland. I had bacon and my wife had ham, again nothing but meh at best. While the sandwiches were filling they really lacked any flavor to make you ever want to order them again. It is a shame, handy location as I live across the street in the college housing and the appearance of the restaurant is very nice but with the food totally void of flavor I question if I will try again. Maybe offer so different options such as bagels or well anything that would increase foot traffic as it was quite empty despite being directly across from a Hopkins parking facility and in one of the research buildings.

A great place to have near work! Really nice atmosphere. Gets busy at lunch but at other times is an awesome place to study, and they are very welcoming to laptops etc(wifi and bottomless coffee). Friendly staff, and everything I have eaten is delicious. Highly recommend!

If you’re looking for a good opportunity to get an underwhelming, but overpriced cup of coffee, this is your location! In retrospect, the coffee was the best element of my meal though. I ordered the salad nicoise, which is not as usual a salad of tomatoes, potatoes, green beans and tuna! Instead I was given a plate of tuna, mixed with some spring onions and NO dressing! To be fair — I was grudgingly given a dressing when I asked for it. All in all a disappointing experience.

Great and convenient location! I came in the afternoon to grab some baked goods for a friend. Atmosphere and seating looked great! Regarding their baked goods: they had a great variety of cookies, granolas, cakes, etc. I ended up picking up a bag of chocolate cherry granola bars, coconut macaroons, ginger molasses cookies, and a muffin. The cashier was super friendly too!

Amazing! I’ve been to the Canton location many times and always had a good experience. I didn’t have time to pack food today so I hit Atwaters for a breakfast sammy. Sausage and egg biscuit with some delicious home made jam. The biscuit was home made and amazing! Everything was hot and fresh and they were incredibly generous with the cheese. Thank you! They serve breakfast only till 10 but do have some prepared salads available. I’ll definitely be back for lunch. Soups change daily I was told! This is a great addition to the inexcusable tasty food shortage around Hopkins.

I love Atwater’s bread in general, but this was my first time trying the prepared food. I got a pastrami sandwich, which had an egg on top. It came with a side salad that was a bit heavy on the dressing. The sandwich sounded great — and the first few bites were pretty good. The meat in the sandwich had a honey-esque dressing. However, midway through the sandwich, it was starting to fall apart from the juices… It turned into a soggy mess by the end. I’m not sure if there is anyway to keep the sandwich together from start to finish. It’s convenient since I am a grad student at Hopkins, and I’ll probably be back to try some of their other sandwiches from time to time — more out of convenience than anything else. If it weren’t for the fact that I am near by and there are few food options, I probably wouldn’t go there. I do have to say that they did a good job of making this a study space — has a nice café feel and they have outlets everywhere!

Atwater’s is a great new café that opened up near the Johns Hopkins Hospital. It’s a great spot with a ton of seating. They have delicious treats ranging from baked goods to amazing sandwichs + your favorite café beverage. I hear most of my peers rave about this place, and while I am not a coffee drinker, I did very much enjoy their cookies. As a study spot, it’s a nice place to hang out and enjoy the ambience of a lounge-like area. My only wish is that they expanded their hours later into the night.

Atwater’s is phenomenal, I wish I could give 10 stars? They go above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. I frequent quite off since they’ve opened and the seafood soups, cheeseburger, desserts, and breakfast is to die for. Can you tell I’m a fan. I also use Atwater’s for catering and the delivery is prompt, with great portions of food. It’s awesome having a new addition of quality healthy tasty food in the neighborhood.

One of the worst lunches I’ve had in a while. Kale salad is one of my favorite things and I went for it without hesitation when I saw it on the menu and I got it to go. When I came home and opened the box, i was sorely disappointed. It was a bunch of starting-to-turn-yellow kale leaves, not much more than that. Couldn’t believe I had paid more than $ 10 for it. I also got a coconut cupcake on the side and thankfully that was yummy. But not enough to give this place more than a star.

I was working from home and my mother was at the house, watching our 1 year old, today. My wife is at Hopkins and this café opened near her building recently. She offered to pick up lunch on her way home from work and sent a link to the menu. The first thing I noticed is that almost everything on the menu has a ‘sweet’ component in it. This wasn’t looking good already. I found two things that I might like. The first was the open-faced pastrami sandwich, which has ‘sweet mustard’ listed as a ingredient. I considered it because you don’t really want to make pastrami too sweet, right? The other was the burger, which is one of the few menu items that doesn’t list any sweet ingredients. The other non-sweet choices on the menu came on small rolls which probably wouldn’t have been substantial enough for me, so they were eliminated. I went with the pastrami sandwich because $ 12.95 for the burger seemed a bit steep. Still, at $ 10.95, I was expecting a lot from my the pastrami sandwich. What I ended up with was 3 thin slices of pastrami on a giant piece of bread. The pastrami, cheese, and bread were great when torn away from the sandwich and the mustard wiped off. The sweet taste of the mustard just ruined the sandwich for me. At some point, I remember that the menu says their sandwiches are served with their pickles. I hadn’t noticed any pickles, so I took a look in the bags again. That’s right, I said ‘bags’, plural. There was a big paper bag with handles. In it that bag was a brown lunch bag with my wife’s sandwich, a brown lunch bag with a cardboard box with my pastrami sandwich, a brown lunch bag with a cardboard box with my mom’s pastrami sandwich, a brown lunch bag with cutlery and napkins, a brown lunch bag with cutlery and napkins, and, finally, a brown lunch bag with more napkins and the«pickles». I really love a nice, sour pickle. Now there’s a happy ending, right? No, these aren’t really pickles. They’re slices of pickles, about ¼″ thick and maybe two inches in diameter, and there were three of them, one for each sandwich. That’s right. «Sandwiches: Served with our pickles», doesn’t actually mean you get a pickle. I’ve come to accept a spear from a quartered pickle being called a pickle but this is something like 1⁄10 of a pickle. If you buy 20 sandwiches, you’ll get about two pickles and then it’s plural. For now though, it’s just deceptive. Now imagine my frustration when I bit into my less than 1 ounce of pickle and it was sweet. On to the salad that came with my sandwich. It was nice bibb lettuce. I pull out the container of dressing(btw, the three pickle shavings were contained in the same size container and they had a little wiggle room). Of course, the balsamic dressing is really balsamic syrup. It wasn’t enough that the pastrami sandwich and pickle flake were sweet, let’s round off the meal with a sugary dressing. My mother, who had the same thing I did, had similar complaints. My wife, however, was very crafty and asked that her sandwich not come on raisin bread. Her turkey jack sandwich was enjoyable. All this said, I did look at the menu and choose to order anyway. I had a pretty good idea everything was going to be sweet but took a chance. I don’t really like custom orders. I’d prefer to taste something the way it appears on the menu. Consider that, if you like sweet over savory, you might like this place. They use quality ingredients but add something sweet to most of their dishes. My fellow savory seekers, you will not like the food here. Atwater’s Café at Hopkins lost 3 stars from me due to the sweet flavor that was present in each item I received, the small tree that was used to package it, and what I feel are high prices.
