I’ve been here several times and it’s usually pretty good, but the food was super salty today. To the point that it was hard to eat. don’t know if they switched cooks or someone messed up but I don’t know if I’ll be back again…

This gem in the wall is probably the best bargain you can get for quality Mexican food in Bakersfield. I got a fish taco, my sister and bro in law got their tortas. I was pretty happy with my fish taco it was served on regular size tortillas. However the real MVP was the tortas. THEY were HUGE, but really if u ever get a small torta in your life they are probably ripping you off.
Even though you would not expect much from the place, it is really well kept. Especially the restrooms, they are super clean compare to other restaurants rr’s but there is no need to call them out.
Can not wait to go back!

Best tacos in town we have been to huichos, tacos de tucanes and up and down Union tacos truck none compare to la barca. we have been here countless times within the past year and they have yet to disappoint food is always hot and the meat is moist. Most places in Bakersfield have such dry meat I can’t swallow it. Only complaint is I wish they opened on Sundays.

I love this place. My husband and I came here one day while in the downtown area and decided to grab a bite here. I ordered the torta Asada he choose the asada mini nachos & we got my daughter a taco with a small portion of rice and beans. First my torta was amazing. It had lots of flavor and meat was not dry at all. He enjoyed his nachos they are a good portion for being «mini». My daughter also enjoyed her food she ate everything (she’s 5) rare for my 5 year old. Ever since we came here we’ve been coming at least once a month when in the area. On a Sunday we drove to the establishment and found it closed. We should have called ahead of time. Overall great service and food. We’ll keep coming here.

The «mini» nachos are a normal sized nachos. And they are delicious! Just the right proportions of meat, beans, chips, cheese, guacamole, and crema. Everything tastes fresh and homemade — and very affordable.

Wow I accidentally stopped here from LA. All I can say hands down! I had two battered shrimp tacos and they were beyond amazing! I can’t even find that in Van Nuys which is where I live. My dad had a wet chile verde burrito and i tasted a little and it was really good too! Great job guys, we need one of these in LA!

I give you my secret for cheap eating, use
for certificate, and check their emails for certificate deals for just one dollar! Easy to use with your smart phone, though this girl said it would had been better if I printed out, but come on girl no one does that anymore.
Torta was good, horchata was good therefor yes I would come back.
Ps: plenty of space inside and outside patio

I lived in San Diego for a while and grew to love carne asada fries. I have been on the hunt for some decent ones in Bakersfield ever since, and The Barca’s version of this SoCal favorite has been my best find so far. They weren’t as good as the ones I’ve had in San Diego, but I would definitely go back. On side note, the prices here are very reasonable. My co-​workers would always rave about how cheap (and good!) the shrimp tacos were here.

Love love love this place. This place was the first time I tried a a Torta. Delicious beans, great bread (even though it’s apparently inauthentic) juicy flavorful carne asada. Though the pollo is a bit dry, I’m not upset because the rest makes up for it. In fact they recently added the SBC to their menu. Shrimp, bacon, chorizo taco. Piled so high you can barely close it and covered in fresh cilantro, onions, and crema. That with a cup of horchata make for a delicious and low cost meal. Can not say enough good things about this place.
Reading over the reviews they seem to be all over the place, though the bad reviews seem to happen when the place is busy. I’ve never been there for a lunch rush so maybe they do their best work at dinner time. When I usually go. Stop in for an inexpensive dinner that is delicious and filling.

They started great but now they are lacking in the quality of their food and when you bring it to their attention they are bothered. I stop going there as there is nothing worse than poor food and bad service.
Get a new cook or get one that cares about the business…

Went to try out their tacos and it was just okay. I had cabeza, tripas and shrimp taco as well. Between 1 – 10 I give it a 2. Service was okay. But the inside is clean.

I stopped here last weekend on the recommendation of fellow Unilocalers. Since it was my first time here, I ordered a variety of items: one each of fish taco lengua taco asada
taco and al pastor taco. I really enjoyed the first three items, not so much the al pastor.
The people were very nice, they made me feel welcome and appreciated. The salsa peppers lime etc. bar was nice and neat. I will have to come back for other items.
This place kind of reminds me of Tacos de Huiecho back when they were worth going to. I would recommend this place, try it out!

I’ve heard a few things about this place having the best tortas. We considered this an invitation. Ordered the super torta-​asada, and 2 fish tacos. From the look of our food as it came out, my mouth watered. If only it tasted as good as it looked. The torta didn’t have much flavor, you can tell it wasn’t total quality cuts of asada. There was a lot of grissle. The fish in the tacos was equally devoid of flavor as well. Like Gordon Ramsey would say, «Bland! Ghastly!» And SUPER greasy. I’m sad to have to say these things but I wouldn’t be living up to true Unilocal duties if I wasn’t honest. Not terrible but not the best in our opinion. Maybe we came on an off day. Give it a try youself.
On a good note, my son ordered a plain bean burrito and he was happy!

This place is AMAZING. I have tried their regular tacos and OMG their shrimp tacos are the best I have had in a very long time. The regular meat tacos are also very tasty and flavorful. The carne asada fries are also very good. Pretty much everything I have tried here has been delicious, never disappointed. Their prices are unbeatable!!! Must try ;) Family owned and super friendly staff…

Great food! Great prices! Great service! There have been many restaurants in this same spot, Tortas La Barca does it right. I’ve had everything on the menu, I have not been disappointed, except for one day when red salsa had gone bad, probably do to being 108* degrees outside, but other than that, superb! I love the fact that’s it’s close to downtown and very accessible. Great job highly recommended! Huicho’s Tacos used to be this good, but they dropped the ball.
