First trip to Don Pepito’s. This is a new location located in the old Clay’s on California kind of behind their old location. I see where most everyone complained about service. This was not an issue when we visited. The chips and salsa were good. The salsa had a little kick to it so if you don’t like heat this may be a problem for you. The Chilaquiles were very tasty. I ordered mine ½ green and ½ red with the with the egg over easy and beans on the side win flour torts. The green sauce was very good with a little heat. Egg was cooked as ordered and loved the beans. If I had to sing them on anything would be the tortilla’s should be homemade and the music was way too loud. Otherwise good experience and will visit again.

The Service here is the worst ever. They need to hire an extra person. The food is Good but The lousy service makes you go elsewhere.

Service was horrible when it comes to waiting time. Your sitting for at least 30 minutes before you even get served your drinks. Honestly this place would be a lot more welcoming if they can fit another waiter/waitress in their budget. Seems like one server is the cook and hostess. I don’t recommend this place unless you have more than 2 hours of your life to waste

This place has the worst customer service in person and over the phone. When placing an order over the phone the person was rude and she hung up. When we called back she literally said«you same person what you want» we decided to cancel our order and tell her we cancelled because she is rude and doesn’t know how to treat customers. We usually order the popusas here all the time but my family’s business they just lost.

Sometimes change is good. Found this spot years ago and fell in love at first bite. I had never had Salvadorean food, and this spot has set the bar. Now, they have grown in two locations… right next to each other!!! Kind of a weird setup, but the prices and customer service can’t be beat. I always and I mean always order the Salvadorean Breakfast, which has a little bit of everything. The chicharron pupusa and platanos make this plate, and the crema and queso are just the right touch to every bite.

Service here is bad, the waitress didn’t know the combos that they offer, I asked a simple question about the food and she didn’t answer, brought my order to me and the eggs were cooked wrong. Also the chips were extremely stale and no taste.

The larger restaurant in the back has more parking and more choices as well. The fiancé really loved the pupusas here. We try to go about once a month.

I’ve had the pupusas here before & thought they were good.(I haven’t had them anywhere else so I can’t make a comparison though.) So, I decided to try a carne asada burrito. While the flavors were good, I seriously think there were probably only a few small pieces of carne asada. I didn’t want a rice & bean burrito. I wanted carne asada. That and the wait time(took more than ½ hour to make the burrito — thank goodness I called it in & didn’t sit there waiting the whole time!) and the price($ 7 for a smallish burrito?!) means I probably won’t be back.

(Note: Don Pepito’s has two adjacent locations. This review refers to the one in the old I-Hop/Clay’s building) Friends brought me here today so I could try pupusas for the first time. The restaurant offers 3 pupusas for $ 5.99 which is a pretty good deal. I tried two of the pork, cheese, & refried bean pupusas and one that was just bean & cheese. Both were great, although I’m not certain if there was one I liked better. There were a few other pupusa options I will have to try next time around. Service was solid, the staff were friendly, and the salsa was very spicy. I would definitely recommend coming here. The only knock I have is the men’s bathroom being very short on supplies, but that is something easily remedied.

The first time I had pupusas was here. They served us ‘scald your entire mouth and insides’ hot pupusas. We’re still not sure if the food was good because our taste buds were burnt off that day. Anyway the beans and rice was the second thing I had there, the chips and salsa first and pupusas last, so I was able to taste the others and they weren’t too bad. Service was slow as HELL, and there was only two other people in there at the time. There aren’t any fountain drinks either, they have can or bottled sodas or bottled water. The question of coming back here now, hmmmmmmm,… hmmmmmmmm, maybe next year.

Come for the pupusas — stay for everything else. In Bakersfield for the weekend, we enjoyed our pupusas.

I was just here last Fri. and boy was I impressed… Pupusas were delicious! They also have this drink called Ensalada it seems to be orange juice and pineapple juice with chopped mango & apples which was so good & refreshing! The location isn’t the best but I would definitely go again whenever i want GOOD pupusas. The prices were very good 3 pupusas for $ 5 you have 3 choices for that deal or there’s other options but i believe they are $ 2.25 ea… My only complaint is that it was a little hot by the register when you order your food but after you go sit it feels a little better… Try it you won’t be dissapointed!

WoW, Definitely the best pupusas in town Hands down very good, If you love pupusas like I love pupusas you will definitely have to give this place a try. They even offer chicken & cheese pupusas which are my second favorite after pork&cheese pupusas. I will certainly be returning to Don Pepito’s Restaurant.

This is one of those places I’ve driven past for ages and been curious about, but was deterred by the location and rough appearance. I’ve been wanting to try pupusas for a while now, though, so the husband and I decided to give it a shot. The interior of the restaurant is much bigger than the exterior would suggest, and the décor is thoughtful and attractive. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that, rather than chase the students from the nearby high school away as other nearby restaurants have done, this restaurant has special meal offers to encourage their business. It says a lot about the respect this business has for all of their patrons. My husband and I ordered the pork and cheese pupusa meal at the counter and sat down to wait for our food to arrive. We were surprised to discover that our meal came with a basket of chips and salsa. The chips were freshly made, and the salsa was chunky and spicy in a good way. The pupusas arrived shortly after. I’ll be the first to admit that, since this is the first time I’ve tried them, I’m not an expert on papusas, but these have certainly made me eager to try the dish again. The pupusas were laid over a bed of marinated cabbage and accompanied by rice and refried beans. I was doubtful of the cabbage salad because I dislike coleslaw in general, but the acidity of the dressing was just what was needed to bring a touch of sweetness out of the masa of the pupusa. They flavors blended really well, and I was immediately sold! The rice was moist and yummy, especially with the small chunks of potato blended throughout. This may be my new favorite lunch. The restaurant loses points in a few areas, though. First, the menu is fairly limited, with American options like chicken nuggets and hamburgers. For a restaurant that promotes itself as serving authentic Salvadorean and Mexican food, the selections are limited. Second, there is no soda fountain; all beverages are purchased by the can or bottle. Third, the parking is extremely limited, which might make this a difficult restaurant to visit during lunch hour. Despite the problems I’ve mentioned, this restaurant provides an affordable and tasty lunch that is worth the money. My husband and I enjoyed our meals very much and we can’t wait to visit again to see if their tacos are as good as the pupusas. We have no problem with encouraging others to try Don Pepito’s.
