Our system did not work properly on the first time, and Kern Security charged us to get it working. However, when I communicated with management, they were able to waive the charges and were very helpful. The system works very well now.

I can’t let a few people with bad customer service skills ruin the whole experience with Kern Security. After speaking to Sean about our contract we in a sense came to the same end point as we did with Gabe without the condescending and rude tone. Customer service is everything for a company trying to build clientele and staying in business. Moreover, my advice is make sure you read your contract in detail before signing because we still have to pay over 1000 to get out the contract and not keeping the equipment because it’s leased. Lesson learned and for next time I want to purchase my own system and do what I please with it. In having my own system I don’t need a 5 year contract and if I move I can move it with me without assuming more expenses or a lengthy contract. Overall, there response time to our incident has been great. Just the lack of customer service, and kindness of some of their support team really needs to be looked at. We are all humans and need to understand that life throws unforeseen curve balls.

Horrible customer service and they completely lied about the terms of their unbelievable 5 year(contract). Sales rep said it was 2 years and customer service is trying to say 5. Who has heard of a 5 year contract for an alarm? This isn’t solar or buying a car. They violate their own terms by raising rates without notifying the customers. If you move they actually want you to help secure an agreement with the new owners of your house. Not happening! Superior companies such as ADT do 1 or 2 year agreements and when you want to quit they actually listen to you and let you quit. Never again you sorry excuse for an alarm company… in less than five years you’ll be extinct. Have fun when Charter and ATT start selling their superior alarms and monitoring services.

Would Not recommend this security company. Quote you one price, then when you receive paperwork to sign it is substantially higher. Took 5 days to get a response when inquiring about service. I strongly recommend Simply Safe Security company. Wireless unit works great and 14.00 monthly, and the unit is yours. Price for unit is very reasonable. Kern Security exhibits very untrustworthy practices with its customers. Save yourself a big headache and take your business elsewhere.

Be weary of a long term auto renewing contract. When we purchased our home it came with a security system. Kern security contract was for 5 years auto renewal and to cancel it you must send notarized mail 90 days prior to canceling or you owe the term of the contract upon cancellation. Underhanded tactics in my opinion But a lot of the companies do this. They changed it to 1 or two years for our contract after I refused to sign otherwise. Needless to say I am glad I did. After several year of paying their service another company came around and offered an upgraded system as well as a second panel by our other main door. We signed up. Our panel that came with the house was locked by Kern Security. Ok not so bad they service it right? Well anyway they got wind that we were switching companies and sent a rep to us contract in hand rudely telling us they have us under contract and we are violating the contract and cannot get out of it without paying for about another years worth if fees. A bit pricey for services not to be rendered after years of having been their client. Well I accepted the challenge that we could not get out of the contract and sent them their certified letter of cancellation. I am paid in full and seldom if ever in the 6 – 8 years or so of service with them. I paid my last bill under the understanding they would come out and wanted to pick up some equipment that is «theirs». Well we did buy a second panel from them after the fiasco mentioned above because we told them we never had any free equipment from them and for the years of payments they never called us except when the alarm goes off. Often times not even then or possibly hours after it was triggered. By default they told us it had to go off 30 – 60 seconds before it even dials. We had them remove that feature setting it to instantly dial thinking of home invasion as a criminal might demand you turn it off quickly possibly at gun point or otherwise(just seemed line we should get security if we are paying for it) but that’s a totally different complaint. The guy shows up and I was not there as my mom watches the kids for us at times. I told her they need to release the panel(factory or manufacturer defaults) and that the system is ours as it came with the house. Which fortunately they apparently did(bump up to two stars). The tech that was here called and talked to me and had obviously been sent to pick up «their» panel. I had a conversation with him explaining the system was ours and came with the house. Requested of him that he reset it to factory settings and he was on the phone where apparently he was told not to do this. I checked with my mother and she said he did nothing with the keypad which would be necessary to program the system. I was looking into getting the manuals and see what I might do to get the system back to defaults as mentioned above when we had another company working to take over the contract they told us it was locked by Kern Security or SSD and the manager we dealt with then also confirmed this to us. As one company I called considering to switch over to told us they would not be able to do anything for us until we are out of contract with Kern Security SSD company because«they had dealt with them before» and we’re not allowed by their managers to work on a system under contract with that company. Because if our own personal experience this was very understandable because we too had an understanding of how difficult it is to get out of a contract with them. Good news is the new company I went with has a cancel any time policy at half the monthly fee for same type service. Take my advice and look to avoid an auto renewing long term contract.

BEWAREOFKERNSECURITY!!! After having their service for 2 years on equipment that i bought and paid for and had installed by a seperate company i moved out of that house. I tried cancelling their service. They informed me that they couldn’t cancel service and i owed them for the remainder of the contract for 4 years(four year clause apparantly buried deep in fine print)(BEWARE!!! 4YEARCONTRACTSTANDARDWITHKERNSECURITY). I could understand a lengthy contract if they were providing installation and eqipment but that was not the case. I remember specifically asking the salesman at the time of activation and he said it was month to month. THEYLIED. I didn’t think i needed a lawyer to have a monitored security system but with way too much fine print to read i should have hired one. They now call and harrass me to pay them for services they aren’t providing. SIGNUPFORKERNSECURITYATYOUROWNRISK. The salesman lied to me about what I was signing up for.
