went here tonight to give them a chance. I wish I had spent my $ 30 somewhere else. We got mozzarella sticks and two steak and cheese extra cheese subs. The steak and cheese were BONE DRY. there wasn’t even a NORMAL amount of cheese in there, nevermind EXTRA cheese! And despite the cheese, the meat itself was BURNT it was so dry. the mozzarella sticks were luke warm. haha do not waste your time. Even the guy who answered the phone was rude and didn’t even bother to try to take down our payment — good thing we clarified before he rushed off the phone that we needed to give him our Visa. I have no idea how this place got REAL four and five star reviews…

My review is based on a number of years going to lunch with my wife, usually 3 – 4 times per month. We have always ordered the same thing — the Devens Special sub — so I can’t speak to the pizza or other subs. But we like the Special so much that we drive considerably further than to other nearby restaurants in order to get it. We do live far enough away (southwest side of Harvard) that they don’t deliver to our house or we would try their pizza and other things for suppers.

Such a nice surprise. I was on a bicycle andy desperate to use facilities; otherwise, in a car I would have driven by as I usually do.
It’s not fancy outside. Actually it looks a bit grim. But inside it is exceptionally clean, pretty and smells like pizza heaven.
The spaghetti & meat balls was great.

Avoid getting sick and order pizza elsewhere.
My family is 0 for 3 with Devens Pizza and getting nausea from their low quality cheese. When we stopped by to grab a quick bite, the owner was so preoccupied with his kitchen he didn’t have time for the counter or the customers.
Great location. Terrible pizza. With so much competition, I’d expect some care or concern about their customers and service.

It was ok. I had the jalapeño poppers which were frozen and deep fried and the pizza was good, that is the only reason why this place is getting 3 stars instead of 1.

It’s probably not saying much, but this is the best pizza in Ayer.
It’s quite tasty, the prices are reasonable and the quality is consistent. I make sure to enjoy a pie whenever I’m visiting my friends in the area.

For me this is unfortunately as good as pizza gets in the area. I order cheese. They can’t screw that up as bad.
I like that they bake cookies in the same ovens as the pizzas.

All my reviews are short sweet and to the point to keep your day rolling.
Pros: the prices! Prices are insanely cheap! Menu selection is decent appetizers are good too! They DO deliver
CONS: delivery took 65 minutes… for an Ayer TO Ayer delivery!!! Pizza was luke warm crust HARD as a rock! Semi greasy and the toppings barely existant. I seriously question anyone here who reviewed there pizza as good. you obviously have NEVER tasted good pizza. Sorrentos while not perfect is also right near by and FAR superior (though more costly). The cottage is also a better alternative near by.
All in all i can not reccomend this establishment based upon this experience

I get pizza here a lot, much better than Pizza Fort. I usually get the standby pepperoni and mushroom, Hawaiian is always good too. The calzones are also pretty sizable. Only a couple times have I had the pizzas slightly burned underneath, but the cheese and the sauce are things I like about this place.
The owner is very friendly, it works well to call ahead though. Good advice would be to check your pizza before you walk out with it, as I have been given the wrong pizza a few times, but it’s good for a laugh.

After moving to Ayer, we immediately began the task of searching for our new pizza joint. It was a lengthy scientific evaluation process spanning several months (and several pizzas). The results are finally in and we can safely say that Devens Pizza is the best pizza in the Ayer/​Shirley area. There is no debate– It’s science, folks.
Great prices too.
