Ruggs Benedict-Carpet One

My main purpose in writing this review isn’t neccessarily a review of Ruggs Benedict or only a review of my experience there, but a review of a carpet that was sold to me.
Karastan Smart Strand. Beautiful, soft, silky and luxurious. This is what Karastan says on their site about Smart Strand:
«SmartStrand Forever Clean carpets offer the highest level of beauty, comfort and performance available. The only carpet with permanent built-​in stain and soil protection that won’t wear or wash off».
There is also a video of Kris McKinney on the Ruggs site talking about Smart Strand. She makes claims that this carpet is «Totally Stain, Soil resistant for the life of the carpet» it’s a «perfect carpet for a pet owner» and comes complete with a wear warranty promising that the carpet will «spring back» in heavily traveled areas. She goes on the say that it is «Bullet proof» and the «most durable» carpet in the market.
While my main complaint isn’t against the company (I have had some great experiences there), personally I have to disagree with each and every statement Karistan and Ruggs says about this carpet. I bought white carpet. I have a dog. I layed the carpet in heavy traffic areas. There are horrible stains ALL OVER my carpet from my dog, dirt, food, everyday living. I immediately tried to get these stains out with a Bissel Spot Bot, then just water, then professional carpet cleaning, then a Ruggs powder product. Nothing worked. When I approached Kris and the team at Ruggs, they sent a tech over twice to try to get the stains out. The stains got better, but didn’t come out. The carpet is also balling up and matting down in high traffic areas (kitchen entry way, bedroom entry way). Looks tacky. The strands are also breaking and they will pop up out of the carpet looking cheap.
So, here’s what I have to say about Karastan Smart Strand. It is beautiful, but FRAGILE. Feel free to lay it in a bedroom or room that is rarely used. Make sure you use the correct chemical cleaner for stains or you will VOID your warranty! Look up the cleaning guidelines for Smart Strand on the Karastan site. Professional cleaners can only use the Hot Water Extraction method and not Steam Cleaning. Before you buy, ask lots of questions! I didn’t and I voided a warranty. After 6 months of my new, expensive carpet, it looked terrible and there’s nothing I can do about it. Beware.

Had these guys install new carpet in my house, the job was done well and in a pretty fast manner. The crew where very nice to work with and the lead guy was good about answering questions and make sure everything went well.

We chose these guys over Lowes — quotes in cost were really close but the service and the extras these guys gave us were great — really happy so far with the install and price — would definitely recommend them over any of the big box stores
