Just moved to Austin last night and wanted something quick and easy for dinner. My husband and I decided to pick up from the soup peddler. We got the Apple muenster, chicken with rice soup, tomato bisque, salmon salad, and turkey cilantro sandwich. For the most part, everything was delicious! The salmon salad was a bit too plain, but was still good. Ordering over the phone was fast and easy. We’ll definitely be back!

On a chilly, Austin night, there’s no better(or healthier) option than picking up a warm soup and sandwich from this place. The soups are known to be both healthy and delicious, and their unique sandwiches compliment it well. While staying on the affordable side, Soup Peddler was able to satisfy my weird late-night craving for some savory foods. On top of their foods, their iced coffee offered a unique twist that tasted really smooth. It had rice milk and honey in it, and it’s something that I would get again. I’m not always in the soupy mood, but Soup Peddler’s is my first choice if I am.

The REAL win about this place is the fact that it stays open AFTER7pm! Most places that specialize in smoothies, acai bowls, juices, and so forth normally open really early for all the early health nut joggers and closes early around 6 or 7pm. This place gets it! It’s late at night and I want a light dinner. Seriously, I mean a light smoothie almost, ok, maybe a sandwich or a soup to go along with it. There’s a win. The price, well balanced with what you receive. The quality, pretty good grilled cheese sandwiches, better tomato soups, and much much better juices and smoothies. Very filling. The parking, you can pull in to the private lot right in front of it. It’s not a lot of parking but it shouldn’t be hard to find parking at night. Honestly, the country needs more healthy options at night so PLEASE, SOUPPEDDLER, don’t change your hours. You make so many late night health food crave people so happy, including me. You are a huge relief.

The soups range from okay to good depending on which one you order. My main reason for giving them 2 stars is because when you order a fresh, homemade soup you expect a nice, hot bowl of soup. Instead the soups come in a plastic bag and they look like donated blood bags from the hospital. It’s quite disgusting actually, not to mention any toxins from the plastic which could permeate into the soup. When ordering a bowl of soup to go they should probably inform their customers that they’re not getting a bowl or cup of soup, but a slimy plastic bag of soup.

Praise is the only word you need to know about this creative force of fresh juices, soups and square family meals spearheaded by the South Austin maverick Dave Ansel. Humble beginnings from literally delivering soup on his bike and trailer to a well oiled organization warming hearts and souls everyday of the week. Sadly you can’t get food dropped off anymore, but he has invested in new locations to serve our city.(Uberites have contracted out, Delivery by Favor App can get it to you now) He did their expansion during tough economic times so you can’t get too sore about that(Cheesy). Can’t go wrong everything is great!

I WISH I lived in ATX just for this… okay jk maybe not just for this, but I truly do wish we had something like this in Houston(or at least somewhere near me in Houston). VIBES: It’s not a food truck, but it’s not a restaurant. It’s on the corner with picnic tables to sit at while you wait or to eat/drink if you chose to do so — usually I take it home! You just go up to the window and order and wait to experience awesomeness! FOOD: — DRINKS: I’ve tried various items but my serious bae is the Banana Peanut Butter smoothie!!! It’s indulgent, yet good at the same time! So simplistic and so delicious! That’s what I like about all their drinks, soups, and sandwiches… everything is made well and tastes great! There have been a few drinks that I can’t remember the names of at the moment that were tasting«too healthy», but still enjoyable! — SOUPS: I enjoyed the one with the lentils and chicken(I will update this review when I find the name of it) and the Tomato Soup. — SANDWICH: The Turkey Pesto! Took one back with me to Houston(of course I came for the Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie Bae of course!) I WILLBEBACK as I always do when I come to Austin(I just need to remember to check in each time)!

Fresh soup from this urban, non-restaurant but not a food truck unconventional establishment. It’s pretty much settled on a dirt road, you walk up and order through the window then go sit and wait for your name to be called and pick it up from the second window. They have picnic tables to sit at. Can’t remember the name of my soup but see my picture post. It had tons of veggies and some legumes in it. It tasted home made. The basil pesto provolone sandwhich was not bad but very oily and salty so be prepared for that. They had about 6 soup options– some vegetarian and some not. Smoothies seem to be very popular here. They also have shots like wheatgrass, Royal Flush(lemon, ginger cayenne), and iced coffee. Juices have variety of options from kale, cucumbers, parsley, mint pineapple, and so much more. Would love to stop by again and I’m really hoping the employees don’t have an attitude for not pronouncing their soup correctly!

Everything is great except the line on weekdays. There is absolutely no point ordering ahead of time since there is just one line for those ordering and those picking up. Be prepared to wait 15 minutes in line during lunch hour even in weekdays. All other food trucks Torchys, taco deli etc all have the option of pick up by calling ahead without waiting in line. Hope someone can do something about this as everything else about this place is great.

Still confused why this is such an Austin place to frequent. The soups are mediocre and lacking any kind of flavor combustion and I’d still take juice land over any smoothie option offered at the soup peddler. I do really love the apple muenster sandwich though. The staff is friendly, and the line can be long. Tip– call ahead or order online.

I love this place!!! We visit here about 3 times/month(more when I need a health fix). I love the smoothies, juice and the soups and the sandwiches. Favorites: smoothies– anything with bee pollen and the local honey and yogurt juices– my favorite is the juice with carrot, apple, turmeric and cayenne sandwiches– turkey pesto on sourdough :-)

Sunday, 11:30AM. Quickie: + Smoothie quality + Friendly staff — Slow turnaround And then??? Soup Peddler’s juice game is strong. ********** Stuffed my face in: 1. Busy Bee + Could taste what each fruit brought to the drink, NICE! Constructive comments: *Option to compost?

Tried their Tropicalia smoothie. Delicious! I am usually a run of the mill strawberry banana smoothie drinker but my niece suggested we go here and I decided to try something different. Glad I did and I’ll be back.

Soup is Love and Juice is … Amazing. Especially on Mondays when they have the 18oz Moonage Daydream on sale for under $ 5. I also stock up on a few salads and a 32oz bag of Mulligatawny. It’s a nourishing beginning to the week and a convenient stop at Manchaca and Lamar. Moonage Daydream — Carrot, orange, Apple, lemon, turmeric, ginger, cayenne And! you might get David Bowie singing in your head… «Far out.» Did you know this business started on a bike?

Well, I had high hopes for this place based on the reviews… I was disappointed. I ordered their veggie chili with the works and a gluten free grilled cheese with apple sandwich. I used their online interface to get it ordered ahead of time for pickup, which I liked because I didn’t have to wait that long when I went to pick up my food. Now, this is where it goes downhill… the chili was very bland, if he didn’t throw in jalapenos then it would have had no flavor at all but it was filling I guess. The sandwich was mushy and just horrible, the bread completely fell apart which may have been something to do with it being gluten free but don’t sell something that isn’t going to hold up to being put in a to-go bag. It was one of the worst sandwiches I have ever had. I would probably try them again to see if I have a better experience, but not anytime soon.

This place is fantastic! Great juices, smoothies and soups. All really great, local fruits, veggies and spices. They have such a good vibe and very helpful. Great quality and they’re pretty quick too. Thanks for the good times. I highly recommend them, everything I’ve tried is great.

I went in on a cold rainy day and grabbed the green goddess soup and pepperoni sandwich. I also grabbed some watermelon juice. I think this store has a solid simple plan and a really good place to grab lunch. You can also sample the soup too before buying. My only complaint is that the tables were dirty from previous customers. When I came with friends we were the only ones in there, but all of the tables had crumbs and the chairs were pushed in different directions. I think the staff could’ve at least wiped down all of the tables.

Cute little walk up spot with delicious smoothies, juices, sammies & soup. Fresh, local and organic ingredients. They have a cute little outdoor seating area off to the side. Great spot when you’re looking for a quick healthy bite!

I ABSOLUTELY love the Love Cleanse juice from Soup Peddler. I usually add lemon to tart it up a bit! It’s a bit bitter since it’s all GREENS, but that’s the way I like my juices! Service here has always been consistently pleasant. The juice is prepared on request and in a timely manner. I haven’t ever tried the soups from here, but I hear that they are GREAT!

Delicious smoothies, glorified grilled cheeses, and I love the tomato basil soup. Their prepacked foods are just okay, but the cookies are dangerously good. Downsides are that its SO slow, and there’s no parking. They finally offer call-ahead orders, but theres no separate window/line. Even if you call ahead by 20 minutes, you’ll still have to wait 15 minutes just to pay for your food. That seems so ridiculous to me and it makes it impossible to make Soup Peddler a quick stop if you are in a hurry. The staff is hit or miss, as many other people have said. In a city with a million juicelands, this place needs to step up their service game and get it together.

This place is delicious if you’re looking for a good grilled cheese, soup, and a fresh smoothie. Their choice of smoothies is vast, starting with very simple one to ones with ingredients you wonder if would be good. I have tried the strawberry banana one with a hint of Apple juice. Tastes exactly like what it says. I got the business time this time and it’s interesting! I’m more of a fruity smoothie person but it’s still quite delicious if you’re looking for something with a cacao and pinch of expresso flavor. On to the grilled cheeses. There’s not much to say but that it’s good! Personal favorite is the pesto one! Turkey one is good as well! Now for soups. My favorite is the tomato basil. It has a good thickness and bold flavors. Their daily non vegetarian soups are great as well! It’s usually chicken tortilla or some form of chicken soup. I still prefer the tomato basil more because it’s more soupy rather than filled with meats and veggies. The soups come with oyster crackers and a slice of bread. The place is a little small and seating is outdoors with limited parking. But regardless this was a perfect meal on a cold rainy day.

Had a bit of a cold so I thought I’d stop in here for a little Jewish penicillin. Can’t think of a better place in the city to get healthy without sacrificing taste, as they offer a wide array of juices, smoothies and sandwiches to boot. Favorite juice: the«Righteous Brother» –cucumber, pineapple, cilantro and lime.(9 oz. $ 2.95) From the six they offered, including the ever-popular Mulligatawny, I chose the 16oz. chicken & rice for $ 6.95 with a shot of bright green and pungent wheat grass($ 1.95). Also helped myself to a cup of water(free). The soup was piping hot to the last drop… to the last mushy little oyster cracker. I am healed. You order at a little shaded window and can eat either on one of the barstools next to the kitchen, or if you want to feel a million miles away although seated literally on the busy corner of South Lamar and Manchaca, you will find four picnic tables under umbrellas in their corner-shaped lot for you to choose from. Lastly, this is definitely a place to bring the kids and the pets. Toys scattered around, and a tiny picnic table just for them.

I’ve been trying to curate words for awhile now with just how amazing I think Soup Peddler is. So here it goes– AMAZING. The staff, the smoothies, sandwiches, juices, salads, soups, COOKIES… just absolutely the best. There was a good two weeks straight I was here every day getting a «Business Time» smoothie and their new«Fruten Glee» cookie. I’ll tell ya what, they put some kind of addicting substance in this stuff(not really), but it’s SOFREAKINGGOOD! For smoothies, I recommend, well, the Business Time. It’s coffee/peanut butter goodness. If you’re in a green mood, go for the Green Monster. It’s so comforting and you can actually feel the hydration flow through you. There are many gluten free and vegetarian options for soups and salads. They can also do gluten free bread for the sandwiches! I opt for the Pepperoni, cheese, and basil pesto one. It’s like the best pizza ever exploded on your tastebuds. Bottom line. Go. Take all your friends, family, and strangers and GOTOSOUPPEDDLER.

I would say that Soup Peddler has definitely grown on me. It is a cute little spot in a great location, right at the corner of Manchaca and S. Lamar. It is really a food stand. You walk up, look at the menu, make your order at one window and then pick it up at another. They have several picnic tables so you can sit and enjoy the outdoors while you sip, slurp or eat. They also have some hula hoops and random kids toys too! There is also a community bulletin board with local information on what is happening around town that you can read while you are waiting. I prefer the smoothies over the juice so far on the stuff I have tried. My most recent visit I decided to try the brie and apple grilled cheese for $ 3.50. It was super cheesy and the apples were the perfect add on to glam it up a bit. I know it is only a grilled cheese, but I think 3.50 is a great deal for that. I haven’t tried any of their soups yet, but I am sure I will venture there soon. How can you not be a fan of this cute little spot?!

I am a huge fan of Soup Peddler. You will not regret your 15 minute wait for your smoothie and sandwich. My usual order: Mulligatawny, Pesto Provolone and a Strawberry Banana smoothie. The Pesto Provolone is to die for, practically Nirvana. The soup is pretty tasty as well(usually a little less salt than I’d like, but good). Also if you need to satisfy your sweet tooth check out the Super Baked cookies they have in the cooler. THEYARESOGOOD! Its basically every-type of cookie mixed together for one cookie. It even has salt on it! ***They recently added online ordering. So now I can select what I want on my phone and skip the wait at the shack. I am loving this new option!

I’ve only been once but I did enjoy my Rip Torn smoothie after a rough boxing session. This place seems very popular, there was a line when I drove up, and(also due to being located in such a tiny plaza) there was no parking! I did go during their lunch time rush so if you can beat the 12 pm line go for it. I wouldn’t consider it a convenient grab and go type of place but the smoothie was surely worth it. I’d go back

Definitely had to try this place on a rainy day. I’m glad I found somewhere that I can get a good soup at. Surprisingly I have not found many places that I can get a good soup at, especially quickly or other than a restaurant. I love how they have a different variety of soups. I got the tomato bisque and pesto grilled cheese.

Soup Peddler is one of the OG juice bars in Austin making them hard not to love. They now boast two locations in South Austin. The South Lamar location became my go to place for my morning green juice during ACL fest this year. The Lamar location is very south Austin with hippy vibe to boot. Besides juices and smoothies they also sell beautiful looking salads, sandwiches to include GF options and soups. On both occasions I ordered the Love Cleanse for myself and the Watermelon Strawberry Smoothie for Jesse. The Love Cleanse is a super simple and easy to drink juice of cucumber, kale, spinach, parsley and celery. The Watermelon Strawberry Smoothie was delicious and super refreshing. I also ordered a bag of soup to freeze and cook later. I will definitely be seeing them next ACL festival if not sooner!
