FLIESEVERYWHERE! I went for brunch this Sunday and I counted at least a dozen flies. On the window, the window sill, and the person sitting next to me. I have never been so close to walking out on a check! The food was decent, but I’ll never go back!

Sad say we found pubic hair not in one meal but two; revolting, disgusting food. It’s a complete shame since this outside patio is magnificent and the wine selections are excellent.

We had the burrata appetizer(phenomenal), the wine lovers pizza(great). We did two flights– a white Italian and a Pinot flight. All of the food and wine was great. The service was fine– we had to wait 20 mins for a table even through plenty were available because they didn’t have enough wait staff on a Friday night. Ambience was great outside. All-around good experience for the fairly reasonable price for the quality of food.

One of my favorite spots. Sit on the patio under the big tree, if you can. Crispy oysters are scrumptious; pizzas are good. Love the Malbec wine. Wine flights are a great way to try new types. Come often!

Well, I have always loved The Grove food and outdoor setting. Still wonderful. However, the«snooty» factor has increased greatly. When I walked in last night, one of the main women who is always there was standing with three gals, about in their 20’s. They all turned and looked at me like I was a homeless person just rolling in off the street. They looked at me like«how dare I interrupt their conversation». So I looked back at them… and I had to tell them I wanted two for outside, they did not ask what I wanted. The woman says«ok» takes two menus and just started walking off… so we got to the table and I was talking to her trying to tell her what the person looks like that is meeting me. She finally realized i was talking, and looked at me with a dull expression and said, ok. She did not give a damn. too bad. so sad.

Just left the restaurant after lunch with my girlfriend. Now at Jack Allen’s bc I’m hungry for food(fair portion) and great service. The hostesses were welcoming and nice when they seated us. The restaurant has a nice ambience and it’s been awhile since I’ve eaten here. Since I just moved back to Austin, I was really looking forward revisiting the restaurant when my girlfriend suggested our lunch meeting. We were sat in the bar area at the tables and our server was, I believe the bartender(blonde woman). She seemed nice when I asked her what her recommendation was for something that was low carb and to keep in mind that I was hungry. She said the dinner salad was really good. I remember reading in Unilocal that the Tuna salad was really good and how you can’t go wrong with it. So I ordered it with confidence. The plate came out and I was puzzled by how small it was. I took a picture of it and asked our server if this was the correct portion. She answered with a smile on her face that it was, but you can tell she was not genuine(very fake). I’ve put myself through college by being in the service industry as a server, so I know good service when I receive it. I was very tempted to not tip at all, but I did. I called to speak to the manager KATY but she’s having lunch; I will call her again after I’m done eating at Jack Allen’s. I’m going to attach a picture of my dinner tuna salad.

One of my favorite restaurants in Westlake. The menu is rich with a variety of delicious appetizers, salads, small plates and entrées. Plus(double plus for me) they have gluten free bread that does not taste like cardboard! Last night, we tried the 3 choice bruschetta appetizer and my gluten eating friends LOVED the bread. Because it was a breezy evening, we opted to sit outside on the deck. So lovely and when the sun went down the twinkle lights were everywhere! You cannot go wrong with the Steak and Gouda Salad. In the summer, it is refreshing, savory and filling. But the wine. The wine! So many choices and not enough time. The one drawback was a very young gal at the hostess stand. My goodness. Get a personality and work on remembering where you sat people immediately before us. Our dinner companions arrived about two minutes before us and she was clueless, smile-less and personality-less.

Such and oasis in a desert of mediocre restaurants. The appetizers could stand on their own as a meal and as a matter of fact they serve small plates and samplers so that you can order a couple and share with friends. Just buy a bottle of wine(you’re just going to drink one anyway) because at the grove time stands still and you are in no hurry to leave. STEVEN was our waiter and we told him to take his time… and he did. Steven was there when we needed him and no glass ever went dry. He made our visit there very special. The menu is varied and I would say there is something for EVERYONE from kids to folks with a more demanding pallet. There is a chef back there because the food screams hand made with love. care and attention. Get a table outside and enjoy the shade from a tree that’s been around for 100 years, Did I mention ask for Steven? He kept 4 «winey» women and 2 thirsty men taken care of and we enjoyed a wonderful night under the lights.

Came here for an impromptu work meeting and because of the wine, pickings and laughs, got nothing done! But that can’t be such a bad thing. We got(2) bottles of the rosé on special which was so pleasant — you can’t come to a wine bar and not be impressed by the selection of vino! As for food, your typical small plates: bruschetta 65 ways, pasta, flatbreads… But their bolognese was a show stopper! Typical ground beef sauce with a tangy cream base! Mmmmmmm! My mouth is still watering. I work a lot in Barton Creek so I’ll be back at this location for sure!

Had a fun time at The Grove for dinner. Outdoor patio under that huge tree with the twinkle lights is absolutely *magical*…Definitely worth the wait for an outdoor table. We started with the bruschetta(choose any 3 for $ 10). My favorite was the smoked salmon one. We also got the avocado-bacon aioli one and the aspargus, proscuitto, gruyère one. All of the bruschetta were pretty good, and I think it’s a good idea to get them as an appetizer to share. For dinner I split a few small plates with my husband. We absolutely loved the crispy brussel sprouts! The sprouts with the sweet potato and fresno chile was just an absolutely delicious combination. We also got the lobster mac and cheese which was ok, but not as good as the brussel sprouts. It was a little rich for me. I think their wine prices were very high. At the bar I had ordered a $ 5 – 6 glass of rose, and when our waitress noticed our glasses had run dry, she asked if I wanted another. I of course said yes, and ordered another one after that. When we got the bill, I was very surprised to see that she had refilled my glass with a $ 9 wine, so I was basically paying almost twice as much as I thought I was for wine. I don’t think it was her fault, but she probably should have double checked that we were talking about the same wine before she filled my glass. Parking stinks, but there’s valet if you can’t find a spot. Overall, a nice place in West Lake for dinner and wine, with beautiful outdoor seating.

Was in town for a business conference and stopped over at the Grove. Coworker had a very nice looking pizza after we shared the bruschetta sampler. He reported back 4 of 5 stars on all. Best bruschetta was the traditional but all good. I had the small plates of Oyster chips and the tuna tartare. Both were great paired with my Malbec. I’d recommend this restaurant for a very nice dinner with an assortment of menu items and you can’t go wrong eating with a wine pairing… anytime, sign me up!

The Grove has a truly beautiful outdoor space. There is a huge tree coming out of the deck, wrapped in lights, which adds a very relaxing atmosphere. The service has always been terrific here. They have a good selection of wines and the servers are knowledgable and make terrific recommendations. It’s a terrific date spot, and also a great spot to catch up with friends. My only star deduction is that they don’t allow dogs on the patio. I understand it’s not for everyone, so I don’t expect this to mar the great experience anyone can have here. It’s more of a personal thing as I’ve had to skip this place a number of times because I had her with me, when I really wanted to meet up with people here. It’s a lovely spot that you should absolutely check out for the nighttime patio ambiance alone, not to mention the incredible service and great food!

Never disappointed when I come here. The staff is always friendly, the food is always good, and the patio is lovely. Laurie is a wonderful server — she’s very kind and attentive. Laurie should get a raise :) Got the butternut squash soup and Asian crisp salad today with a glass of prosecco. Everything was so yummy — perfect way to relax after a nice massage. Bravo!

My boyfriend and I did a staycation last weekend and quickly became tired of subpar– overpriced resort food so we opted to skip resort dinner and go out some place close by that neither of us had tried. GREAT choice! We wanted something a bit nicer than our average dinner spots since we were«on vacation» and this spot was perfect! We really went all out and got a full 4(almost 5 course meal). We started with flights of wine and they were so reasonably priced I will with out a doubt go back! Next we did the pick 3 bruschetta and I forgot which ones we went with but all 3 were excellent! I really don’t think you can go wrong! He had a past dish and I went with the ahi salad, the salad was perfect and I ate every single bit! The boyfriend downed his pasta(which is rare because he almost always finds something not up to par with pasta dishes). Finally, we were stuffed but had to have a desert just because VACATION! We went with the three crème brûlée and the Nutella one was my personal favorite! We spent way more than we would on average and probably will not go to town next time we stop by but The Grove differently was a high point of our staycation and hit the spot on ambiance, wine, and great food. The service was very attentive and the patio is perfectly casual yet romantic if you are trying to set the right mood. Overall very please with everything and it was well worth the price.

Really good food. I have a lot of food restrictions and they catered to my needs flawlessly and without any hesitation. 4 stars because of the atmosphere. It is clean and modern, but not very welcoming. It felt dark even though it was the middle of the day.

AMAZING!!! I was there for our Christmas party for the first time. Wow! The ambiance and food were top notch. I ordered the filet. It was tender and very flavorful. It was cooked to perfection. The sides were out of this world too. I also had a glass of wine with my dinner and that also was fantastic. The customer service was average. Unfortunately, because of it I can’t give 5 stars. However the food is 5 stars!!!

An old one but a good one — This is probably my favourite ‘out of town’ lunch spot. I like to sit outside under that glorious tree with a wine flight and all the appetisers and while the afternoon away with those excellent Brussels sprouts. The wine selection is ace and ever changing — and all the staff are enthusiastic and knowledgeable and make confident suggestions. The pizza’s are deliciously fresh, the salads leave you sated and the calamari(which is the metric by which I judge all restaurants) is almost perfection — that smokey tomato salsa might be on my death row food wish list. I can bring parents or friends or colleagues here entirely confident that they will be well catered to — an interesting enough menu to keep foodies happy without scaring off more conservative eaters. And that tree.

edit: reposting as I dined at the Bee Caves location I had my first experience at the Grove yesterday for Sunday Brunch with girlfriends. It’s a cute location with plenty of natural lighting and friendly staff. It is a wine bar, so there was an extensive wine list, though no one in my party opted for wine. I was somewhat disappointed that there was none of the traditional breakfast fare(no pancakes, no waffles) and the ladies in our party who had visited the other location were surprised this location did not have chicken and waffle sliders. So note: the menus are not the same at all the locations. That said they have a few(four or five) options on the ‘brunch menu” but we all opted to just order off the regular menu. Our starters were three different types of bruscheta(the fig and brie had one of the ladies dancing in her seat, literally) and the mac and cheese which was warm, gooey and had a satisfying crunchy topping. I had the short rib sliders, which were okay, though I wished the horseradish aoili had been more liberally applied. The sourdough bread the sliders were made with was fantastic. Others in my party had the vodka shrimp linguini(looked great, but the tails were still on the shrimp?) and a few pizza orders(looked great, and were well sized. Both ladies ordered mediums and had plenty to take home). Our server, Josh, was great. He made good suggestions, checked on us, but allowed us to chit-chat in peace. Overall, this is a nice place, probably even better for the wine lovers. It’s a good place for brunch, especially if you are looking for more savory brunch options rather than sweet.

We shared 3 small plates: A pick of 3 bruschetta, the Brussels sprouts and the grove crispy oysters. My all time favorite were the oysters. It had a great aioli spicy sauce. I wanted to lick the plate but stopped myself from doing so. Second favorite, the bruschetta. I probably had all of them at some point except for the one with goat cheese. All of them are great. The most memorable one is the avacado-bacon with aioli. I’m starting to see a pattern in my dishes… aioli. Mmmmmm. I’ve been here plenty of times and will continue to come back. Love this place. Great service. Pretty and romantic patio, especially when it’s dark outside.

With a perfect Austin fall evening giving a big assist, dinner at The Grove was just about perfect. The Grove’s patio, nestled beneath the branches of a massive oak tree that has been strung with lights, was comfortable and magical. Wine selections were surprisingly good, with the Cabernet flight leading to a few more glasses of the best of the three wines. Our waiter was a pro. The food exceeded expectations. The grilled filet was top-tier, and the barbeque chicken pizza was fantastic. I finished with a well-crafted cappuccino. The meal wasn’t cheap, but the dinner was a great value for a special evening out. This is a boring review because everything was so steady and competent. I’m a fan, and we’ll be back.

I really enjoyed my dining experience here. The Grove is a wine and Italian themed restaurant. One thing to know before heading here is that the dress attire for this restaurant is slightly more dressy than casual. I showed up in a nice pair of shorts and a plain t-shirt and felt very underdressed. Though you should dress a little nicer to some here, the price of the menu does not indicate this at all. The food here is very affordable. The pizza was probably the best pizza I’ve had since I moved to Austin from the Midwest. Forget Via 313, if I want a great pizza experience I will head to the Grove. Also, their patio is amazing! Definitely sit outside of you can. It is a very beautiful atmosphere.

I love the Grove. The patio is one of the best in Austin, awesome day or night. Inside it’s comfortable, and the bar is cool. Service is consistently good. They have a great wine selection. I like the wine flights to try several. The pizza is good — not the best but no complaints. The shrimp bisque is delicious. The bruschetta is fantastic. Salads are great, especially miso salmon. crispy Shrimp is also a favorite. The one in Lakeway is great too. You can’t go wrong with the Grove, especially with its sister Lola Savannah coffee shop next door.

Came here for lunch yesterday with the husband and some friends of ours. Yay, I am a fan! Why? I had their kale salad with quinoa and it was quite fresh and delish. Also, I was a bit skeptical about ordering Texas Redfish Ceviche off the menu because there’s no ocean nearby! How can one trust fish out there!!! Nonetheless the friend that we were with has been a born/raised Texan and told us it would be great. I ended up devouring most of the ceviche myself, as it was quite good! The husband got the seared ahi tuna salad, and thoroughly enjoyed that as well. Our friends wanted to show us that Texans can have as clean eating as us Californians. They did a good job of that. If I were ever back in Austin, I would come back here.

Ok, So if you don’t give these guys a 5 star review than there is something wrong with YOU! The wine selection is spectacular, correctly priced, and paired immaculately with all of the food; you really can’t go wrong, especially with the wine lights! The food? INCREDIBLE! Taste is 5 star, presentation is Vegas-esque, and service is on point! If you can, ask for Laurie as your server! Atmosphere is out of control beautiful! The wine bar is intimate and sexy, the main bar is sleek and fun, and the dining room inside feels shiek… BUT it’s the outdoor dining area that is over-the-top perfect. It’s the perfect blend of Austin and Miami and Eden. You’ll see when sit down. Perfect 1st date spot! Can’t wait to go back!

The Grove is a staple for my family. We always try to sit on the patio under the huge trees if the weather is nice. I’m a big fan of the wine flights. They have quite a few to choose from. I’ve never had a bad meal here. Some of my favorites are the bruschetta, pizza, and crabcake salad. The ceviche is also very good. Like I said, you really can’t go wrong. I heard they have a new location downtown and am looking forward to checking it out. The only downside is the parking. The lot is often jam packed. They offer complimentary valet though, which is a nice touch.

What a pleasant surprise and find. My high-school daughter did some searching for a nice place for Father’s day. One heck of a large selection of wine, but we came for the food. The Calamari was divine. The Quail legs were awesome. Highly recommend both, but the red sauce that came with the Calamari was not appetizing. So we avoided it. We also had the pizza, lamb chops and pasta. All good. I liked the lamb chops, and the mash potatoes mixes with horse radish was a hit. The desert was crème brulé. Yeah, get it… Nutella, salted caramel(our favorite), regular… Yeah, get it. We will be back Oh a shout out for Daniel, our server, he was great. As our first time there, we felt comfortable and relaxed…

Thought for sure I had written a review here as this is a favorite go to place! Lovely indoor outdoor establishment with a fusion of tapas and entrees you should pair with great wine! This particular evening I met the mom to start off Mother’s Day with a bang! We started with the cauliflower & shishito peppers with Thai coconut curry sauce. Don’t miss this fusion of favors! Next we shared the grilled redfish over orzo & wilted spinach with almonds, grapefruit and oranges. This dish shouldn’t be missed either! My tastebuds wanted to scream! My first time won’t be my last as this dish was bursting with wonderful favors that complimented each other! Don’t forget to partake in the great wine flights while breezing it on the outdoor patio in the grove of trees!

After debating where we were going for our date tonight, we gave The Grove one more try. We got our favorite server, Jen, and had a fabulous night. Our favorite bottle of wine is back on the menu, ordered the dinosaur kale salad, mussels, and gluten-free Mediterranean pizza. We also got to catch up with Jen and had an overall great experience. The manager came by our table and reassured us that they were thankful for our review and were working diligently to train the new staff. Thank you for the great night. Our last review is below: {Okay, I’m done. Love the atmosphere, the food and a cpl of servers. The Grove has had HUGE turnover in staff and it has effected our experience here. During our last few experiences here, we have had to pour our own wine(at a wine bar I expect the server to pour our wine) & tonight our server said his day was great until he had to come to work, twice. He then showed us that he was not happy to be here. We almost always make The Grove our weekly date destination. We decided tonight that if the poor service continues we will have to nix this place as our primary date destination. From now on We will call ahead to verify Jenn, Mariah or Laurie is serving or we are out. This is unfortunate to say the least and truly disappointing!}
