I see Dr. Groves and have for 3 ½ years for a brain tumor that was diagnosed and removed. I cannot say enough good things about the whole experience at Texas Oncology! The front office is very kind and upbeat and helpful, especially in a clinic where people are dealing with extremely scary situations, they make you feel comfortable. Even the beautifully decorated office is like a comfy living room. The nurses are great, especially Jessica. She is so sweet and organized, sets up all the appointments and coordinates insurance and MRIs. Dr. Groves is one of the most brilliant and best doctors I have ever met. He is honest and matter of fact but reassuring and kind. He never acts hurried, spends time answering questions but also takes the time to get to know the patients and asks about their families. Etc. I know I’m in great hands with the oncology team!

I wanted to give props(yes, I grew up in the 80s) to this location of Texas Oncology. Every day the staff here sees and works with people who are staring death in the face and fighting it. My mother has been a patient here for a little under a year, and we have had great experiences with almost all of the staff. The receptionists are fabulous and quick, but don’t make you feel rushed. I simply can’t say enough about the nurses who manage mom’s chemo. They are informative, caring and smart. They see people at their best and their worst, and every day they do what they can to support them in every step of the process. I would especially like to call out Thomas who has administered mom’s chemo a lot. He has been great, and this last week even gave mom a little bit of a lecture on not trying to over-do it and not feeling guilty about being physically weak. It was perfect timing and I think it helped her to hear it from someone who is not a family member. This location is also a lot more comfortable than the south location. The furniture isn’t as old, etc. and my dad can actually nap beside my mother during her long treatments, which is a god-send(he can’t get comfortable enough in the furniture at the South location). The only negative experience we have had is with the scheduler(which is why this place doesn’t get a 5 star). My mother’s physicians are down south and usually work with the south location, but she lives north, so she is treated at Midtown. I think the doctors who work south do things differently, and it frustrates the scheduler. She has argued with my mother on multiple occasions about her orders(mind you, mom has«chemo brain», so my mother is always apologetic in case it was her fault, but to this day my mother has never been the one with wrong information). In general, her customer service needs improvement. It is very possible that she has something making her life difficult(although I hope that isn’t the case), but regardless there is no reason to take it out on the cancer patients coming in for treatment. Overall I really really like this place and the people. I would recommend this treatment center to anyone who needs chemo treatment or other infusions.

I love all the staff I have encountered at TX Oncology. From the first encounter with any of the receptionists, to the expert laboratory staff, warm nurses and the physician I see there(Dr. Youman– see review) it’s obvious these people are in healthcare for the people. I’ve never been waiting too long, the lobby is warm and inviting, on first visit you’re given a tour of the area, and the doctor has never kept me waiting and always explained all the tests and such in great detail(and in words that a normal person can understand.) Scheduling appointments is easy, the office is efficient, and the staff is great. What more can you want(other than a CURE for cancer)
