Staff is rude. There’s much better pizza places close by who actually want your business.

REQUIEMFORROCKIN’ TOMATO… Rockin’ Tomato, you may not have been the best, But shutting your doors I never would have guessed. You had decent slices, and ice cold beer. I loved the fact that you were so freakin’ near. Maybe if I’d have stopped in a little more often, You might not have put the nails in your coffin. But I guess in these times, that’s the way things go. Sweet dreams and adieu, to the once-Rockin’ Tomato.

Great and unique food. ordered the nachoman pizza. Came with lettuce on top. Best pizza in a while. Can be pricey so I wouldn’t eat there every time.

Called to ask about delivery… the guy on the phone whom sounded like he wanted nothing more than to slit his wrists with a pizza roller mumbled«yeah… we deliver to like… uh, 10:20?» I then ask which location I had reached as the website for the south and north location are two different URLs and do not disclose which you are calling on the url that leads to the north number on a mobile device. He informs me I had reached north… I apologized and asked if he had the south location’s number handy(franchise or not, it’s courtesy) to which he replied«NO» and hung up. Thanks… cool story a-hole. Won’t be calling them again. Called the south store, guy was awesome, pizza on the way. Poor management shows through your lackluster employees.

Okay pizza, but I actually prefer their calzones, the Classic Italian calzone is meaty and tasty! The gourmet toppings selection is rock solid for building your own pizza/calzone(Prosciutto, Cappicola, etc). Their delivery is usually pretty fast and I like that they keep the customer on file so that you don’t have to give them your payment info every time.

Update: Draft beers are now 2 bucks M-Thurs. Buffet is no longer around. However(and I love this) you can order a slice that will be made fresh. I haven’t seen any slices on display, but I did go in and order one(with a few toppings) that came out in less than 10 minutes. It’s NY style(thin crust) but very good. Cheaper than the buffet and huge.

My Second Favorite Pizza Place in Austin. These pizzas are SOSO good! The only down side, The Staff isn’t very friendly, and can be off putting and straight up rude sometimes.

Pizza is better than the chains. Pepperoni rolls have more cheese and pepperoni than Double Dave’s. DD’s quality is going downhill. If you love rolls, this is where to go. Wings? Terrible! Gross and nearly inedible. I know you aren’t Pluckers, but dang… Take them off your menu or find a way to make them decent.

Bummer, no more lunch buffet. What a disappointment.

Bummer. They discontinued the lunch buffet for $ 8.50. My coworker and I enjoyed coming here because it was a great deal and the pizza were decent. Now, the pizza they serve is really stale because it’s been sitting under the lamp for a long while. Unless they bring back the lunch buffet, I won’t be coming back here.

A couple of months ago I might have given them 5 stars, but THEYTOOKAWAYTHEBUFFET! I haven’t been there since they removed it, mostly because the prices are just not worth it. The food is pretty okay, they have a great selection of white pizzas.

Apparently, there is no longer a buffet. Instead, you’ll find a sparse selection of aging items under heat lamps you can purchase individually. The pizza choices all had that desiccated look that things get when they’re left out too long. I picked the Philly calzone, which essentially the mystery choice. Seemed like a good idea since the pizza looked pretty bad. I can’t tell if it was made today, or yesterday, but it is rubbery and all wrong. The most prominent note after excessive salt is this burned taste — not like it was burned, but it was in the oven while something was burning. As ambiance goes, it has all the charm of a junkyard or an abandoned, dimly lit warehouse. I went during lunch on a Wednesday, and there were two other people, each alone, staring at the TV. This place may have been good at some point, based on past reviews, but don’t waste your time. Unless their delivery business is miraculously booming, I fully expect this place to fold any day now.

I used to go here for lunch because they had a really great pizza buffet. But as of May 1, 2012, the buffet is gone! They are now selling pizza by the slice for something like $ 3 per«big» slice. The pizza is good enough, the place is clean enough, the service is nice enough, but the lunch buffet is what made me thoroughly enjoy this place. Without it, Rockin Tomato is just another pizza place in my book.

This place is so good when I used to work at another small pizza chain I would get off work and come here to eat. It’s so good. The lunch buffet can’t be beat. $ 8.50 for a buffet and drink! Awesome. Plus, the have a punch card you can earn a free buffet with once it’s filled up. Also, when I make pizza at home I buy my fresh dough from them, it’s that good.

This used to be my favorite place for pizza. I especially liked the smell and taste of the crust, which reminded me of the way great pizza crust used to taste and smell. But this time, the crust didn’t taste or smell the same. It was pretty ordinary. I suspect they changed the crust ingredients. The toppings were sausage, mushroom, and garlic and they were pretty good, but I just can’t get over the crust not being as good. Without the great crust, Rockin’ Tomato just doesn’t stand out anymore from the competition. At least the beer was cheap.

This place was a lot better than I was expecting. It wasn’t amazing by any means, but the next time I am up by lakeline and I am hungry for pizza I wouldn’t hesitate to swing by this place. The interior is kinda dirty looking, and not really that well put together. But the pizza and cheesy sticks were more than serviceable. There really isn’t anything else to say about the place. Pros: Decent pizza and cheesy bread, cheap buffet for our kiddo, fair prices. Cons: Kinda dirty feeling in some ways.

of all the pizza places in my general vicinity(NW austin), this has been by far the best i’ve found. i’ve been on at least 4 or 5 occasions, and all but one have left me satisfied & sufficiently stuffed with pizza and their garlic bread twists. the one occasion when i was not satisfied was a take-out order, and i’m pretty sure some homeless dudes with no pizza– or garlic twist-making skills were staffing the joint. but this is a positive review, so let us only speak of the good – not the bad and/or the ugly… all other pizza-devouring sessions went exactly as planned. we ordered our usual: a large pizza with ham & mushrooms. most recently we added sausage, and it was wonderfully delicious. there is nothing fancy about this pizza, except for a light garlic-y flavor to the crust, which i like very much. also, there’s not too much sauce or cheese to overpower the other ingredients. their garlic twists are *huge* and lightly garlic-y. not greasy like i kind of expected them to be. did i mention they are *HUGE*? oh, and dip them in ranch dressing. you won’t miss those skinny jeans one bit. in fact, your fat pants will welcome you back with open… err…leg holes? anyway… they also have live music on weekends, which was nice & not too loud for the small space. though they don’t have happy hour drink specials on fridays. what?! guess the Stones were right. «you can’t always get what you want.»

In my many experiences here over the years, things have steadily gone down hill, to the point that I no longer give this place any more business. Things started to get pretty bad here around the time they went under new ownership a few years ago. Problems included long delivery times(1.5−2hrs), cold and/or soggy pizza, seemingly much cheaper ingredients than they used to use, forgotten items(salads, soups) and forgotten orders entirely made it clear to me that my money was better spent elsewhere. Note: This location and the one on S. Lamar are both under different ownership. This review is about the location off Research Blvd. Word has it that the location on S. Lamar is the bomb; I can’t wait to give them a try sometime.

You know, I can take or leave their pizza. The beer is cheap. I like the calzones over their pizza, personally. I like this place mainly for the people. The bartender who usually serves us remembers our orders, and has a pitcher waiting for us when we walk in the door. The regulars are colorful and funny, and remember us too(wait, does that mean we’re regulars?!). That said, my best friend adores this place. I’m pretty sure that if it were a woman, he’d court it, propose, marry it, and have a bunch of pizza children. However, as is, we just go there, order pizza, and drink beer. So.go there! Order pizza(or calzone). Drink beer. Be merry. Say hi to Lauren-the-bartender because she is amazing.

As Sarah said, I don’t understand why Rockin’ Tomato doesn’t get more attention than some of the other joints in town. Personally, I started ordering delivery from them when they dropped a flyer on my apartment door. I ordered the Farmer’s Market, which is freaking fantastic. Crunchy, fresh veggies, great sauce, just the right amounts of cheese — just WOW. I’d HIGHLY recommend Rockin’s pizza over almost any other in town — sure, it’s not New York pizza, but it’s damn good.
