North Austin Montessori School

Our 2-​year-​old daughter has been here 6 months. From the beginning, Ms. Perera (the owner) and the teachers and staff have been very kind, sweet, and seemed genuinely interested in her well-​being.
My wife meticulously researched the schools in our area and apparently this school is one of the few in the Austin area that had no major findings by state inspectors, and no findings in the last two years.
The only thing that might rise to the level of criticism is that in less than a handful of times, the plastic-​ware for our daughter’s lunch came back missing a part. I think that was because her name wasn’t on it and it was sent home with one of the other kids. But I blame the other parents for not returning it, not the school.

I haven’t been happy about this place, but this morning I witnessed something that really made me come here and write this review. As I walked to the door to drop off my child, I saw this older boy punch violently another one, smaller, in the head, the little one only covered his head with his hands while the tall one punched him non-​stop, the issue here is, no teacher was present in this room, the children were unattended, then I knocked on the window to make the child stop, but he didn’t hear me, so I went back to the door to ring the bell, then a teacher finally showed up, clueless about the incident. When she opened the door I told her about it, her response was, «Oh, they are siblings», as if that made it right, the she proceded to talk to the little one, to put him in a time out, so I had to step in once again and tell her he was the victim, the tall one was the violent one, then I left, wrote an email to the director, and now I’ll go to the website where you report schools.
They make you sign a 1 year contract when you enroll, now I know why.

My 20-​month old has been a student here for 1−½ months now. She has developed mentally in leaps and bounds since attending. The director, Mrs. Perrera is simply put the most supportive, caring and attentive lady I have ever met and has a genuine love for the children and their growth. With a husband out of the country for weeks at a time, she has been incredible towards my daughter and I. The teachers are extraordinary as well. They care so much for each and every child.
Not every school calling themselves a «Montessori» school teaches according to the strict guidelines of Dr. Montessori. This school does. I cannot express my appreciation and recommendation enough about how vital this school has been for my little girl. Priceless.
