Michael is extremely knowledgable and intuitive in his therapy. He brings a wholistic approach to your health. Not only addressing current pains, but underlying causation.

Prepare to be healed… That is the best way to describe the experience. Michael and his staff are exceptionally skilled Ashiatsu based massage therapists and yoga instructors. I’ve been going to Michael now for a while and each time I come away feeling like I’ve been to a mountain-top temple of a wise man somewhere in Tibet. On day one, Michael was able to tell me about my various muscle injuries(torn hamstring from years and years ago specifically) before I could just by feel. He also uses infrared and laser light therapy which gets some heat and deep healing into joints that have been problem areas. Michael custom delivers his therapy based on the physical demands of my work(law enforcement) and extremely physical hobbies(mountain bike endurance racing). As a result, my performance on the bike and at work have improved. I have less sick days, faster workout recoveries, and less pain from getting older. Michael and his staff are the real deal. My wife has been now as well and we are both very satisfied.

I was on the search for a really great prenatal massage. I’ve been some lovely places but nothing wonderful or «other worldly» until I saw Summer today. The positioning she had me in was so relaxing and a nice break from the side lying. I left no only feeling extreme relaxation but also much looser in my hips, back and neck. I will be going back on a regular basis.

Michael of Massage + Yoga is the best massage therapist that I have ever encountered. He has taken care of me after my total hip replacement a few months ago, and now after my bilateral total knee replacement just three and a half weeks ago.

Amazing place! The restorative yoga class taught by Summer was so good! Sitting in their sauna before made more of a difference than I expected. I loved the pace of the class and how I really felt it all in my body where I needed it versus just going through poses and struggling to hold them. I was able to get out of my head and follow my breath and it made a huge difference for me. I have wanted to like yoga for years and have always felt out of place– I think this studio is the perfect place! Can’t wait to try the other yoga classes. April does an amazing job with her deep ashi massage. She has great skill and control and you can tell she really knows her anatomy and how the body is supposed to work! It’s not painful but you leave feeling like you got the work you needed done through one of the deepest massages I have ever had. This place is such a hidden and unexpected treasure in this neighborhood!

Mixed feelings about this establishment. The massage therapy is fantastic, without a doubt. But I am constantly disappointed with the scheduling system and find the main contact person to be aloof. I didn’t go back after I scheduled an appointment on the computer and they were’t able to provide the service when I arrived because they didn’t have me on the books. I understand the mistake and they did offer a reschedule but didn’t appreciate how blasé’ the administrator was about this. I wish there were a way to communicate directly with the massage therapists. If there is, I can’t find it on their website. I was trying to surprise my friend who’s had a fabulous massage here with April and I could not find a way to contact her directly, even through email. Still will book the appointment because the massages are great, though it won’t be a surprise. I just wish it were more personal.

Wow! I am blown away! I’ve struggled with hip and back pain for almost a full year. Now that I’m pregnant it’s getting worse. I’ve gone to a Chiropractor and other Massage Therapy that helps a little but the pain is always there. I walked out of Massage + Yoga for the 1st time today and I have no pain. It’s gone!!! It was like no other experience I have ever had. I told her of my hip and back pain and she did some mixture of deep tissue and Thai Massage that I cannot describe. It was so wonderful and I feel so GOOD! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I have been searching for a great massage therapist for some time. I happened upon a groupon deal with them and decided to try the accident recovery massage with Michael. SO glad I did. Spent EXTRATIME with me, utilizing different techniques so I could see how each could rest my body and help tight areas. He talked quietly at times with me on various areas as he worked on them, helping me understand what he was doing. Other times, he was silent, other times realizing that for me to be relaxed i need I’ve been back for a second time, and have a third time prepaid and in the process of getting it scheduled. They are pricey, but offer various discounts, and probably most importantly work to get to know their clients. I’ll take that any time over a cheap«massage membership» anyday.

I recently experienced a 90 minute massage from Summer. Absolutely amazing. I left floating on a cloud. It was both relaxing and therapeutic. I can’t wait to go back.

Hands down, the best therapeutic massage I have had… and I have had many. Michael is very instructive on what things I can do for myself which is above and beyond. My first therapist was April and I was amazed at how she worked with her feet and how fantastic it felt. I have also had Summer and floated in bliss. Definitely recommend especially if you have any special issues. They really know how to adapt the massage to what your needs are.

I purchased a Groupon and expected the«Groupon treatment» if you guys know what I’m talking about. I scheduled a Stress Reduction massage with April and I must say it was one of the best massage I have ever had! She was truly amazing! She listened and focused on the areas that I wanted her to… unlike alot of massage therapists or masseuses that would rather disregard your instructions and work the entire body and leave minimal time on the troubled areas. I had to subtract a star because although I arrived about 15 mins early(to give some time to fill out my paper work), no one was up front. So I guess they had to keep the door lock while in session. I had to wait outside. Also, the walls are thin. During my massage, I can hear loud conversations and door slamming from outside the room. I had scheduled another appointment but had to change it. I emailed Michael and called and left a message about my schedule change. Michael text me back the very next day to let me know he’s looking into it. Then I got a text from April to confirm it. It was simple and no trouble at all.

I’ve only interacted with Summer but she is fantastic. The prenatal massage I got with her was the BEST massage I’d ever had, pregnant or no. I did two other prenatal massages and she blew them away. I also did a few post natal yoga classes with her and my daughter and I had a great time. She’s such a loving, patient person(which is a big plus when she’s dealing with multiple babies during a yoga class! :)

I got a Groupon for a massage and was kinda thinking I’d get a «coupon type service» I’m new to the bargain game and I just assume«you get what you pay for» in this case, I was wrong! Summer rocked my world! I’ve been a stylist in Austin for over 11yrs and have worked with some AMAZING massage therapist, But this was the best massage I’ve ever had! It was a whole new level! I only wish I didn’t have to be back at work right after:/ I felt drunk leaving there! my body is like jelly! Plus, the North location of Polvos is right next door and I wanted to «unwind» there(probably best that I didn’t) I can’t wait to go back!!! Thank you Summer!

Every time I write a review of another therapist or bodyworker I have this feeling of anxiety. I’m concerned because doing similar work I’m concerned about feelings and don’t want to inflate someone’s ego or shoot them down. Being in the business of bodywork means that I know the ins and outs of our industry and am more picky than most. I’ve had a session with every therapist at Massage + Yoga other than Summer so far. Each session and therapist has had its own flair and I’ve been BLown AWay at the diversity of their work. The sessions I’ve received from every staff member have run the gamut from ashiatsu, table work, trigger point therapy, Thai massage and some variations and mixes that I’ve never seen elsewhere. I’ve never felt any pressure to return, repeat sales or any sort of used car salesmanship in their office. The bodywork is superb and diverse, I’ve NEver seen this much talent and skill in an office setting anywhere. After 11 years I consider myself knowledgeable and I can’t believe they don’t have a line out the door waiting to get in. If you’re looking for highly skilled therapists to help you with back pain, if you’re a tech warrior stuck in a computer chair these are the people to go to. They can relax you but they can also help correct the imbalances of modern life. This isn’t just good work, it’s essential.

I had a groupon for a 90 minute massage. After the no hassle online scheduling system, I had my appointment today with April. And it was awesome! One of the best massages I have ever had. Would highly recommend!

I have never authorized this vendor to contact me via text message — and yet this morning when I turned on my phone, I had three messages from them. Fortunately my cell phone plan includes unlimited text messages, but not everyone’s does, and that would immediately raise someone’s hackles if they were getting messages from a business they did not ask for. The three messages were apologizing to me for having a problem redeeming my Groupon, telling me there are«other parlors» in the area, and then went on to say that I am not welcomed to schedule with them ever again, due to my Unilocal review, and due to an alleged«no show» on 9⁄20. I have no records of making an appointment on 9/20, so I am not sure if they had me confused with another customer. The negative, condescending, and passive aggressive messages from this business I received, over text messages, which could have cost me money if I was a person without an unlimited plan, really surprised and disappointed me. I all ready had no intention of contacting them again after getting my Groupon refunded, and their response a week later to me review seems unnecessary at best, and a bit spiteful in my personal opinion. –FURTHERUPDATE– The vendor at Massage + Yoga continues to send me text messages in response to my Unilocal reviews. Again, they have no authorization to even be contacting me. Their most recent message: «We sent one message. You scheduled on Sunday 9⁄16 which you were asked to move. You Scheduled on 9⁄20 and did not show. We have apologized and you have your money. We don’t know you and you are not welcome here. Is that in any way unclear?» I would like to note that this particular message was actually two text messages. When messages are over a certain length, they are broken up into parts. Hence why my previous update said they sent three messages — it was a longer text, and broken up into three parts. Extremely unprofessional. I do have evidence of the appointment on 9⁄16 which they canceled. My next appointment I have any scheduling proof of is 11/2, as stated in my review. To be continually harassed over their mistake is a frightful business tactic and extremely poor ethics and customer care. I have not responded to any of their messages as I am not attempting to facilitate any communication with them. I have reported this business to Unilocal for unwanted and/or harassing contact. This place has gotten a huge red AVOID stamp from me now, and my contacts are calling in as we speak to cancel their appointments.

I too discovered Massage + Yoga through their groupon deal, and I am so glad that I did! I got there early, Michael greeted me right away and chatted with me while I waited, and got me prepped so I could be ready as soon as April was. The massage was absolutely amazing — April was perfectly tentative and provided the most relaxing environment, and the perfect amount of pressure in all of my problem areas! I tend to think a massage is extra special when the scalp, hands and feet get a little attention, and that they did! I was fabulous! I’m eagerly awaiting going back today for a second massage!

I got the Morgan’s Deal for a massage here with Michael and I swear it was the best thing that could have happened to me! I came in for a relaxing Swedish style massage and I came out with some real therapeutic healing. Michael has an awesome intuition when it comes to what needs to be worked on and I can tell he is incredibly interested in physiology and how our bodies can best heal themselves. I have psoriasis and was a little shy to get a massage, but he made me feel so completely comfortable and even researched some oils that I could use to help me. I am also excited to try the yoga with his wife Summer as I heard her instruction as I was walking through the studio. Lucky me they are right down the street!

In all of Austin from the High-End to the Cheap Spots, I have not had a yoga or massage experience that even approaches that which Michael and Summer offer and Massage + Yoga. Ashley was my instructor during the first yoga class I took at M + P. She led the class casually, but with clear instruction and guidance. She allowed the students to suggest the direction it should take(a little extra help for the sore ankle, or pulled groin muscle). The MORE than affordable drop in rate made the deal all the sweeter! I knew I would be going back, so was happy to buy a 4-class pass. After feeling rejuvenated, I figured I would check out the massage side of the practice. With two parents and two sisters in the industry, I am hard pressed to find a real, good, deep-yet-effective-without-leaving-bruises massage that is within the budget of a part-time employed person. I am more than pleased to say I will no longer struggle with this while in Austin! I made a double appointment for my fella and I– Summer provided his massage and Michael mine… Ashiatsu is my new rescue. I feel sure that Ashiatsu is incredible all around, but whatever it is about the way it is practiced at Massage + Yoga makes it exponentially more effective. I have been avoiding some much needed therapy and recovery work after a short list of random injuries. Not only did the enormous lumps in my quads subside, my runs no longer end in pain, I sleep better and my shoulders have quit riding around my ears. The massage great, there was fantastic follow up and the standing offer to fix anything further that continued to bother or started to bother as a result of such a thorough, deep, magnesium-laiden massage! All around, this place is long over due. It is affordable, approachable and has incredibly realistic hours. There’s nothing trendy about it. The yoga is great, spiritual and well guided(no yoga booty-ballet here). The massages are out of this world. The staff is beyond personable AND knowledgeable. And this is one very happy, very relaxed, repeat client!
