This place is a great, locally-run establishment. All the workers are very friendly and it has that nice, neighborhood vibe. Coffee, beer, wine, and pastries/snacks are what you will find here. The outdoor area is definitely where it’s at. Hanging hammock chairs, tables, and an outdoor bar all make it a chill place to hang out. East Side King is right next door and will bring food over to you to eat here. Come and check out Open Mic on Thursday nights for a great rotation of local talent!

This was our first & last visit at this coffee shop a couple days ago. We walked in and placed an order, everything was ok. Later on I went to get refills and had a hard time getting barista’s attention, and when I finally did I had a hard time getting my questions answered because barista was too busy chatting with other customers who appeared to be her friends. I felt like I was interrupting their really«important» conversation by placing another order. Those customers weren’t buying anything, they were just hanging out. Later on, the two of us were sitting in outdoor area still working, around 830pm, we were the only people outside. One of the ladies that works either at the coffee shop or the food place next door(they both share the same outdoor area) came by and very loudly stated«I wish we could close now, since there are only two people out here» to her co-worker. The guy knew it was inappropriate to say so he tried to smooth it out yet saying«no, there are quite a few people inside too». It was rude and absolutely unacceptable, especially when hours of operation are till 10pm. I sure don’t ever plan on going back there. Either that lady needs to quit since she hates being there for two customers aka which is what she was hired to do, OR she needs to change her attitude towards customers. Needless to say all of their employees need to be trained on how to do a better customer service.

This place has one of the best environments ever for a coffee shop. Indoors, the counter area is a cool wrap around bar, while high tables flank the walls, and there are a few lower tables. So, you can chill at the bar and talk to the friendly barista, get stuff done on your computer at high tables, or meet with a friend at table in the middle. I’ve done all three. Outdoors, there are picnic and other tables, some with umbrellas AND. .. wait for it. .. an awesome area with several hanging cloth chairs! They’re in, like, a circle, so you can swing with one or several friends and while the day away, or have a casual meeting. Takes me back to my Caribbean days, but I digress. At night they have music, like Reggae Sundays, d.j.s and open mic nights, so night life is covered too. It’s a real community type of place. So Irie has every kind of awesome drink: organic teas, iced or hot, delicious coffee and beer and wine. The one thing it lacks is a variety of food options. It has several high-quality(and expensive) bars and bagels, but no real food. But, you know, nothing in life is perfect.

Would i return — yes, most definitely. I would get exactly what i got the first time — iced latte. The hammocks out back were fun. It was clearly a place where people liked to go and hang out. Why not 5 stars — although the coffee was low acidity it didn’t have the perfect balance of flavor; maybe too much milk? Also, for the hot latte my husband got, the drink could have been bit hotter, i’m not talking super hot but lets just say closer to 140 degrees.

I LOVED their iced latte, probably the best one. Their breakfast migas was also good. I love their backyard with hammocks, so COZY. I could stay there all day.

Favorite iced Americano in Austin. Smooth, crisp and low acidity. The owner is super cool and they have tasty breakfast tacos in the morning. Large, clean and nice outdoor patio for large groups or outdoor eating.

Super chill local coffee place. Quality wifi, very peaceful vibe, comfortable tall tables with readily available plugins for laptops, etc. It’s clear there is a community spirit in this place with a very pleasant, go your own way kind of mood. Whether you’re wanting, coffee, tea, beer or something more substantial, it’s a great choice. With parking able to overflow into the Chipotle lot next door, you can get a spot, unlike many South Lamar locations. So, all in all, a great place to slow down, work a little, think a little, whatever. Try it.(p.s. you can congratulate me for not using the word«mon» or any fake Jamaican-inflected prose in the entire review. It was not easy.)

I love it here. The owners go to my church so that’s how I discovered this gem of a coffee shop(full disclosure) and you can tell locals are running the show. I can also say I see them give everyone the same stellar service I receive. I highly recommend the surprisingly powerful iced coffee. Take a swing on the hammocks in the back. Free wifi.

I can’t not do a review for this one. I also can’t about the food here(but I’m sure it’s good) coz I didn’t try any. Patio + hammocks + stuff for kids to play with + bar + east side king as neighbors. What does that equate to? Do the math. Patio = totally cool. Hammock = totally hipster. (Patio + hammock) = amazing. Stuff for kids to play with = win. Bar = easy way for parents to relax while their kids play. (Stuff for kids to play with + bar) = win win. East side king = great food. Service = A+. Add it all up. What does it say? Amazingly win win situation. I docked off a star coz the margarita is kinda not very margarita like, and the restrooms remind me of public toilets in Miami beach.(No need to elaborate on that one.) The best drink here is obviously the watermelon yum yum. It’s freshly ground watermelon with moscato garnished with lemon. There’s a lot of beers to choose from, they also have rotating. And of course, mimosas for you lovely ladies out there. I like this place the way it is. Easy, friendly and not trying to be cool. That’s what makes it so cool.

The coolest part about this place was the backyard they have, with a bar. so this place is kind of like a mullet, business in front and party in the back. Came by here after picking up my husband from the airport. It was finals week and needed a place to study. Since we were eating at East Side Kings we decided to check this place out. Cute little independent spot. Saturday afternoon studying. Uncomfortable chairs — till we moved to the cool facing recliners. I’d come back if I knew I could sit there! lol. Coffee was great, place was quiet except for one weird guy in the back laughing hysterically and talking to himself quite randomly. At first I thought he was on the phone but then realized, nope, he wasn’t. no phone, just his laptop. oh dear… but it is Austin after all. sooooo he fits right in! It’s me that’s not weird enough!!!

Love the place– cool backyard. Sad the hammocks are gone when we went this past time. Like that it’s next to a tattoo shop. I only give 4 starts because the baristas are a bit awkward and the parking is sucky if there full up with limited room. But good coffee and tea selections. Super helpful to fine what you like!

What they’ve done to the backyard in the past week is really awesome! They’ve now got shade, hammocks, christmas lights, etc. It’s a great spot to go with your laptop, for coffee, or for a cocktail. They’ve got a beer and wine license which they use to their full advantage. They’ve got a long list of «wine cocktails» that are really good! The bartender back there is really friendly too. He started a conversation with me that was so out of the blue and deep that for a second I thought he mistook me for another person, but my friends all had the same experience, so I guess he’s just super friendly! They also back up to East Side King’s brick and mortar location so I’m sure everyone is super stoked about that! Great spot. Highly recommend.

Sweet and patient staff, always helpful and ready with ideas. Cinnamon horchata with espresso. Can I say MORE please? Also got the juiceland pre-bottled«recovery punch» which is good for post hangovers. Indoor seating is comfortable for a coffee shop, and the outdoor patio they share with East Side Kings is pretty cool with lots of trees and umbrellas for shade and plenty of tables. Not sure about the wall outlet situation outside though. My only complaint is that I’ve been in twice for the horchata espresso drink on the weekends and they’ve been out. Not. Cool. Homemade coffee horchata is not the same

This hip little gem is my favorite coffee stop in Austin. They have plenty of indoor seating, a bar area, friendly service and a super cool outdoor area to hang where I see a lot of people bringing their pups. Like other reviewers said, parking can get tricky. You have been warned.

I’ve been coming here since they first opened. This is by far my favorite coffee shop in Austin. Lots of positive vibes here, and plenty of fresh brewed deliciousness. Parking can be a bit of an issue during primetime hours, but when you need a caffeine fix, it’s not necessarily a hindrance. If you go, say you know Raf… everyone else does!

IT’S IRIEMAN! Located in swingin South Austin, the Bean has the most hip and laid back patio of any coffee bar in Austin. I’m not a big coffee drinker, but my husband enjoys the espresso while I sip on some delicious kombucha. We kick back and chill on the patio and take in some sun while enjoying some live music. The patrons of the Bean are also super chill. It is nice to go hang out and people watch, study, or catch up with friends. I LOVETHEBEAN!

Very friendly staff. The coffee bar really is a local bar. Four people were lined up with their laptops at the counter chatting with the barista bartender. My smoothie was just Naked juice with ice, but that’s what I get for ordering a smoothie at a coffee bar :/
